Background / History
Uchiha Identity and Disappearance
Before adopting his bandaged identity, Uchiha Satoru was known to Konoha figures including Hiruzen Sarutobi and Orochimaru. Orochimaru remembered his unusually independent outlook: he neither treated ninja as mere weapons of the daimyo nor allowed village identity to define his thinking. Their conversations helped inspire Orochimaru’s eventual decision to leave Konoha and establish Otogakure 108.
Satoru was believed dead following the Uchiha clan’s apparent destruction. Sasuke therefore struggled to understand his return with a different face, while Itachi was visibly shaken when they eventually reunited. In reality, members of the Uchiha clan were living in hiding, with Shisui handling concealed identities and loose ends 77 157 160.
Early Mischief and the Root Raid
Wu Chiwu’s relationship with Sasuke combined affection with elaborate pranks. During a ramen outing with Sasuke and Naruto, he won an eating contest using Itachi’s card to cover the meal. When the card was declined, he arranged for the boys to work off the bill in women’s clothes as “Little Blue” and “Little Yellow.” He later bought Sasuke candied hawthorn while asking the vendor to put the removed seeds back in 63.
Disguised with black hair and altered eyes, he entered Root headquarters intending to borrow the masked Obito’s identity. He overwhelmed Root operatives, confronted Danzo, and used Limitless and Red against him. A subsequent encounter with Obito tested his timing: Wu Chiwu baited an attack, teleported during Kamui’s brief tangible interval, and struck Obito’s arm. The fight remained unresolved 68 69 70 71 73.
Return for the Chūnin Exams
After a three-year interval, Wu Chiwu prepared to enter the Chūnin Exams with Haku and Hozuki Kagetsu as representatives of Sweet Ninja Village. His conspicuous bandages concealed his appearance, while the team’s background identities helped protect the hidden Uchiha community 75 77.
He privately acknowledged being Sasuke’s second brother but refused to explain everything immediately. Instead, he promised answers once Sasuke became strong enough to protect both the truth and the people important to him 77.
During the exams, he fought Gaara while simultaneously advising Haku and Hozuki Kagetsu against Kankuro and Temari. He also protected Team 7 from Orochimaru through an Orange Clone, a Lightning Release trap, fire, and coordinated explosive tags. The plan was intended to delay Orochimaru and attract witnesses—not kill him 89 96.
Kankuro forfeited their preliminary match, publicly acknowledging the difference in strength while privately considering Sunagakure’s operation. Wu Chiwu later faced Neji, penetrated Rotation, and reproduced the Gentle Fist method of cutting off chakra flow 107 118 119.
Konoha Invasion and Orochimaru’s Laboratory
Wu Chiwu knocked out a Konoha ninja, assumed his appearance, and took a position behind Hiruzen to watch the matches. When the invasion began, he smeared himself with ketchup and played dead, only to become trapped inside the Four Violet Flames Formation. His borrowed face was subsequently identified as Kiba’s, and he abandoned the disguise after being discovered 122 124.
He had come to question Hiruzen and obtain documents. During the battle, he used Flying Thunder God, clones, and Fire Release to maneuver around Orochimaru and the reincarnated Hokage, then broke through Hashirama’s wooden cage to reach Hiruzen. He later caught the Kusanagi Sword’s hilt to prevent it from stabbing Hiruzen during the Reaper Death Seal 126 130 131.
Despite helping Hiruzen, Wu Chiwu left with Orochimaru, deepening Konoha’s suspicions. A month later, he emerged from Orochimaru’s laboratory satisfied that he had obtained what he wanted while its owner was away seeking treatment 134.
Akatsuki Infiltration and Black Zetsu
Kisame invited Wu Chiwu to join the Akatsuki. Wu Chiwu initially used the invitation as an excuse to fight him, creating enough commotion to draw attention. He later pursued the offer because he suspected Black Zetsu was behind his recruitment and wanted to seize the initiative against him 136 138 139.
Partnered with Deidara, he cultivated an idle routine that frustrated Black Zetsu’s surveillance. He also interrupted Sasuke’s departure for Orochimaru: after Sasuke refused to accompany him, Wu Chiwu stuffed him into a burlap sack and fled from both the Konoha retrieval party and the Sound ninja 141.
His infiltration ended when he openly attacked Black Zetsu. The black energy shattered much of Zetsu’s body despite his resistance to ordinary attacks. Wu Chiwu then compressed the distance to his target, seized him, and escaped from the assembled Akatsuki. Pain subsequently designated him a threat to the organization’s plans 148 149 150.
Itachi’s Capture and Public Return
After leaving the Akatsuki, Wu Chiwu intervened in Team Kakashi’s battle against Hidan and Kakuzu. Hidan’s curse mistakenly struck a rabbit whose blood had rubbed onto Wu Chiwu’s hand, while Kakuzu was unable to leave a mark on him. Later intelligence credited him with helping Team Kakashi defeat the pair 152 153 155 163.
A chance encounter at a dessert shop exposed his identity to Itachi. Wu Chiwu attacked his older brother, condemned his habit of deciding other people’s futures, and transported him into the woods. There, he challenged Itachi’s plan to engineer Sasuke’s Mangekyō awakening and revealed knowledge of his work for Konoha 157 158.
He brought the unconscious Itachi home in a coffin, calling him the Uchiha clan’s “Snow White.” His capture of both Itachi and Black Zetsu prompted Obito and Orochimaru to seek information through Kakashi 160 163 165.
Wu Chiwu later openly confronted Danzo, who recognized him as the supposedly dead Uchiha Satoru. After demonstrating that Danzo could not track his movements, he invited Sasuke to use the older ninja as combat practice. The supplied account does not establish the confrontation’s outcome 169 170.
Appearance
- Hair and eyes: Short white hair and azure or cyan-blue eyes 77 80 129.
- Exam disguise: Pitch-black robes, bandaged arms, and white bandages concealing an eye beneath stray hair 75 87.
- Later eye covering: Wears a blindfold after preparing to leave the Land of Fire 156.
- Altered appearance: Changes both hair and eye color for the Root infiltration; uses Transformation Technique for more complete impersonations 69 122.
- Expressions: Frequently presents an innocent face or dazzling smile even while provoking opponents or preparing to attack 157 169 170.
Personality
Wu Chiwu is habitually lazy, irreverent, and fond of making serious situations ridiculous. He complains about unnecessary fighting, lets Haku and Hozuki Kagetsu drag him through the forest, and spends much of his Akatsuki infiltration eating, drinking, and sleeping. His fondness for dango and pastries is strong enough that Sasuke successfully distracts him with a skewer during pursuit training 88 112 141.
His apparent carelessness conceals deliberate observation. Against Orochimaru, he plans around the enemy’s larger objective rather than attempting an unnecessary victory. Against Danzo, he consciously exploits fear and uncertainty to create openings. Haku and Hozuki Kagetsu trust that his actions have a purpose even when he appears to be fooling around 70 89 96.
He is protective of Sasuke but often expresses that concern through teasing, secrecy, and coercion. He withholds painful information until Sasuke becomes stronger, interferes with Itachi’s intended treatment of him, and physically removes him from Orochimaru’s followers 77 137 141.
Personal choice is central to his dispute with Itachi. Wu Chiwu rejects the idea that suffering imposed “for someone’s sake” becomes acceptable without their consent. He particularly resents Itachi treating Sasuke’s future as a script whose outcome he alone can determine 157 158.
Abilities & Skills
Six Eyes
His Six Eyes appear to have displaced his original Sharingan; Wu Chiwu jokingly regards them as a deluxe upgraded version rather than a loss 68.
- Perception: Pinpoints Danzo, locates concealed ninja through mist, and tracks Kisame and Itachi 69 139 151.
- Genjutsu counter: The text states that genjutsu does not work against these eyes because they see through appearances 73.
- Technique analysis: Identifies weaknesses and mechanisms in Gaara’s sand, Temari’s wind attacks, Kankuro’s puppet weaponry, and Dosu’s sound techniques 88 89 98.
- Limitless compatibility: Supplies the extraordinary precision in cursed-energy control required to handle Limitless 68.
Limitless and Associated Techniques
A system-granted ability that brings infinitely diminishing distance into reality, allowing interference at the atomic level and control over space 68.
- Defensive use: Survives Danzo’s chakra-cutting air blades within pale-blue energy 70.
- Early limitation: At that stage, the defense lasts only briefly; Wu Chiwu privately acknowledges that a sustained assault could have made the outcome uncertain 70.
- Red: Condenses black energy into a sphere that launches Danzo into a wall; also uses it in his timed strike against Obito 70 73.
- Blue and Hollow Purple: Listed among his activated skills at 70% unlock, though the supplied passages do not document separate demonstrations of their effects 156.
Spatial Movement
Wu Chiwu combines conventional named ninjutsu with system-based spatial abilities.
- Distance-compressing movement: Selects a destination and compresses the space between it and his starting point 149.
- Early charging requirement: His incomplete teleportation is not limited by a fixed number of uses, but cannot initially be activated freely 73.
- Unmarked disappearance: Vanishes without nearby technique markings or detectable chakra ripples, leading Asuma to reject Flying Thunder God as the explanation for one escape 146.
- Flying Thunder God Technique: Explicitly uses the technique to appear behind Orochimaru during the barrier battle 130.
- Transporting others: Carries Black Zetsu away and relocates Itachi from the dessert shop to the woods 150 157.
- Later speed: His repeated appearances and disappearances strain even Itachi’s Mangekyō Sharingan 158.
Taijutsu and Gentle Fist Reproduction
His basic taijutsu emphasizes exact timing, minimal expenditure, and slipping through the smallest available opening 118.
- Evades Jiraiya using basic movements without revealing a distinctive fighting style 114.
- Avoids Neji’s attacks while maintaining unusually calm chakra flow 118.
- Reproduces Gentle Fist’s chakra-sealing method, cutting off the flow through Neji’s right arm; Hiashi recognizes the method 118 119.
- Strikes Itachi hard enough to send him through a tree 158.
- Acknowledges that the reincarnated Tobirama remains beyond his current ability to defeat during their exchange 127.
Ninjutsu, Clones, and Deception
- Fire Release: Blast Wave Wild Dance: Learns the move previously used against him by Obito, aided by his affinity for Space-Time Ninjutsu 69.
- Fire Release: Phoenix Flower Jutsu: Combines flames with concealed shuriken and uses it during the Hokage barrier battle 127 130.
- Fire Release: Burn Casually: Heats Gaara’s sand shield enough for the heat to reach its protected side 89.
- Lightning Release trap: Restrains Orochimaru long enough to stage an escape and attract attention 96.
- Orange Clone: Collapses into foul-tasting orange juice when Orochimaru bites it 96.
- Shadow Clone: Draws Hashirama’s attack while the real Wu Chiwu reaches Hiruzen 130.
- Transformation Technique: Impersonates others, including the Konoha ninja whose face is identified as Kiba’s 122 124.
Attacks Against Spiritual Bodies
His black energy can injure Black Zetsu despite Zetsu being a spiritual life-form normally untouched by ordinary attacks.
- Shatters more than half of Zetsu’s body and pins him against stone 148.
- Prevents repeated escape attempts after capturing him 150.
- The supplied passages do not identify this attack as a specific named Limitless technique.
Domain: Unlimited Void
Unlocked at 75% template progress and explicitly marked incomplete. It is described as a powerful domain-type move, but its operation is not demonstrated in the supplied account 167.
