Gern defeated Shanks and Dragon, then brought their unconscious bodies to Wano and forced the country to choose between further ruin and Marine rule. After Kozuki Sukiyaki accepted the Marines’ authority, the world learned of the upheavals and the Cross Guild rose as a new Emperor power.

• Gern defeated Shanks and Dragon after they joined forces against him, then carried them toward Wano as Luffy’s allies defeated Kaido and Big Mom.
• After Wano’s liberation, Hiyori became shogun and Yamato agreed to sail with Luffy, while Gern arrived with the wounded Shanks and Dragon.
• Gern confronted Zoro and Yamato, recounted how he had defeated Oden, and revealed that he had stopped Kaido from reaching Marineford during Ace’s war.
• Gern brought Shanks and Dragon before Luffy and demanded that Wano come under Marine control, while Luffy declared that Wano belonged to its people.
• Gern offered to leave Hiyori as shogun with little authority, but Luffy admitted he could not defeat him and Kozuki Sukiyaki accepted Marine rule to spare Wano further devastation.

Gern reshaped the Marines into an independent power, convened a Navy Reverie, and set forces moving as the World Government, Blackbeard, and the Revolutionary Army converged on their own plans. On Egghead, Luffy battled Lucci and Aramaki while York’s betrayal and the arrival of the Blackbeard Pirates turned the island into a growing conflict.

• The Revolutionary Army debated rescuing Dragon from G-4, while Blackbeard evaluated Kuzan’s loyalty and the growing threat from Cross Guild before Shamrock arrived and offered a deal involving Egghead.
• Gern reprimanded Koby for his actions at Hachinosu, then persuaded Sengoku and Tesoro to establish a Navy Reverie and build lasting alliances with nations beyond the World Government’s old order.
• At the Reverie, Gern abolished slavery wherever Marine authority reached and opened Marine recruitment to all races, while Blackbeard attended as Hachinosu’s king and learned the World Government wanted his forces sent to Egghead.
• Gern suppressed Blackbeard with Conqueror’s Haki and rejected his claim to the Emperor title, while Imu raged over Gern’s growing influence and Dragon heard Gern’s proposal to lead an attack on Mary Geoise.
• The Five Elders approved Saint Saturn’s covert Egghead operation, and Gern deployed Marine forces as Blackbeard’s crew, the Straw Hats, CP0, and Aramaki converged on the island while Sengoku set out to find Garp.
• Luffy defeated Lucci, agreed to let Vegapunk join the crew, and intercepted Aramaki, whose forest powers drained Luffy before Luffy rose in Gear Fifth and struck back.

Blackbeard’s crew attacked Egghead and clashed with the Straw Hats, while Luffy fought Blackbeard and later Gern. The arc left Blackbeard cooperating with Saint Saturn to search for Vegapunk’s real data core as the other Blackbeard officers were pinned down.

• Blackbeard arrived on Egghead, declared his desire to seize Vegapunk, the database, the Seraphim, and Luffy’s Nika fruit, and forced Aramaki to lead them toward the island’s center.
• Blackbeard’s crew overwhelmed Sanji, Jinbe, and Kaku, then attacked Zoro and the Thousand Sunny, but Luffy arrived and challenged Blackbeard after finding his friends injured.
• Luffy used Gear Fifth to batter Blackbeard across Egghead, but exhausted himself after Blackbeard fled and an invisible impact stopped Luffy from pursuing him.
• Mihawk confronted Burgess, Van Augur, and Shiryu, while Kizaru, Enel, Kuzan, and Samuel fought across the island.
• Gern gave the exhausted Luffy food, fought off Brook, Robin, and Franky, and learned that Saint Saturn had likely helped Blackbeard escape.
• Luffy told Gern that Blackbeard had fled rather than risk a costly battle, then defended Vegapunk from Gern before Gern disappeared from the battlefield.
• Saint Saturn confronted Blackbeard over his failure to find Vegapunk and revealed that Kizaru, Enel, and Mihawk had pinned down Blackbeard’s officers.

York’s betrayal brought Gern, Blackbeard, Luffy, and the Five Elders into a battle for Vegapunk and Egghead. Gern killed Saint Nusjuro and faced the remaining enemies as he asked who would fight him next.

• Dorry and Brogy rallied the Giant Warrior Pirates and sailed to Egghead after recognizing Luffy in the newspaper.
• York used Koby’s coded help to move Vegapunk toward the coast, but Van Augur alerted Blackbeard, and Luffy arrived to claim the scientist.
• Gern fought Blackbeard and Saint Saturn, using his Conqueror’s Haki to suppress Saturn’s regeneration and pin him down.
• Saint Saturn summoned the other four Elders to Egghead, while Imu revealed a plan to use Teach as a weapon against Gern.
• The Five Elders attacked Gern, but he cut all five in half with Quakeflame: Fire Dance of the Gods.
• Luffy awakened Gear Fifth and helped Gern fight the Elders, freeing him from Saint Ju Peter and battling Saint Warcury.
