Liu Erlong's Madness
The second game has begun.
This time, Liu Erlong volunteered to Seeker.
Yan handed her the Spray Soul Tool. Liu Erlong weighed it in her hand and held it up with one hand to test its weight. The gun was heavier than she had expected, but the curve of the grip fit her palm perfectly, and her index finger rested on the trigger; it felt good.
"It's quite handy."
Yan chuckled, "Sister, don't end up like me, stepping on people and not being able to find them."
Liu Erlong was teleported to the waiting area.
Everything was a blur of white; she couldn't see anything. All she could hear was her own heartbeat and the Clown Dwarf's countdown. Her palms were slightly sweaty, and her fingers tightened their grip on the gun.
Sixty seconds.
She took a deep breath in the waiting area, her mind racing as she recalled the map layout from the previous game.
The Main Residence includes the main hall, study, kitchen, bedroom, backyard vegetable garden, rockery, Spirit Grass wild herbs, and clothesline.
She had a pretty good idea of what was in each area and how many items there were.
"Seeker enter!"
As the white light dissipated, Liu Erlong's feet landed on the blue brick ground in front of the main gate of the Main Residence.
Holding her gun, she didn't rush to run. She first stood still and scanned the area, taking in the entire courtyard from left to right.
The layout is similar to the previous game, but the details have changed. The rockery in the backyard has been moved, and the types of vegetables in the garden are different. There are now two stone lions on either side of the Main Residence, which weren't there in the previous game.
Liu Erlong thought to himself: The map details will be slightly adjusted in each game, so I can't rely entirely on memory. I have to use my eyes to see.
She started walking, heading first towards the Main Residence.
Push open the door.
The furnishings in the main hall were largely the same as in the previous game: an eight-immortal table, Grand Master Chair, and a display shelf. The display shelf was filled with a pile of items: porcelain vases, wood carvings, stone ornaments, and a bronze incense burner.
Liu Erlong walked to the display shelf, squatted down, and looked closely at it.
She has no Soul Power perception, nor mental power detection. In the Game Domain, all Soul Skill are locked, so she's no different from an ordinary person. The only things she can use are her two eyes and her brain.
She looked at each item one by one.
The first porcelain vase is white with blue floral patterns, has a smooth glaze, and a small crack around the base. It's a normal old porcelain vase, nothing wrong with it.
The second wood carving is of a toad holding a copper coin in its mouth. The wood grain is clear and the color is even. There's nothing wrong with it.
The third stone ornament is gray and has natural patterns on its surface.
The fourth, the fifth, the sixth...
Liu Erlong looked it over but found nothing unusual.
She stood up and turned to look at the octagonal table. On the table was a tea set: Teapot, teacups, and a tea tray. The Teapot was made of purple clay, and the four teacups were neatly arranged on the tea tray.
Four teacups.
Liu Erlong stared at the four teacups for three seconds.
Was there a tea set on this table in the last game? She thought for a moment, unsure. The setup changes every game, so she couldn't rely on her memory of the previous game to make a judgment.
But of the four teacups, the rim of one seemed to be slightly thicker than the other three.
Liu Erlong leaned closer to take a look.
The first cup has a thin, even rim and a consistent reflective glaze. The second is the same. The third is the same. The fourth... has a slightly more rounded rim, and the angle of reflection of the glaze is subtly different from the other three.
She might have misread it, or there might really be a problem.
After thinking it over, Liu Erlong decided not to gamble anymore.
She raised her gun and sprayed bullets at the four teacups.
Da da da da!
The four teacups were sent flying by the shockwave. The first one rolled to the edge of the table and fell off, shattering—it was a real teacup. The second one flew out and hit the wall, shattering. The third one tumbled over and landed on the ground, shattering.
The fourth one, a flash of white light.
A random player transformed back into human form from a teacup, squatted on the octagonal table, and looked completely bewildered.
How did you figure that out?
Liu Erlong blew on the hot air from the gun barrel. "The rim of the cup is a little too thick."
The casual player looked down at his fingers and muttered, "Just a little thicker?"
Liu Erlong did not answer, turned around and left the main hall, carrying the gun towards the study.
She pushed open the study door and glanced around. Bookshelves, a desk, writing brushes, ink, paper, and a knife rack in the corner.
Four knives were stuck in the knife rack.
Liu Erlong recalled Yan's experience in the first round. Last time, Xie Yue transformed into a dagger and hid it on the knife rack, but Yan saw through it because the curve of the blade resembled the Moon Blade Martial Soul.
Will Xie Yue still be hiding on the knife rack in this round?
She went over to take a look. There were four knives: two kitchen knives, one wood-chopping knife, and one boning knife. They were different sizes and styles, but all were typical kitchen knives.
There was no dagger.
Xie Yue has learned her lesson and didn't hide here.
Liu Erlong turned to look at the bookshelves. There were three rows of bookshelves, each with dozens of books. They were thread-bound, leather-bound, and cloth-bound, in various shades of color.
She didn't have time to read them all.
Liu Erlong made a decision.
She raised her gun and swept it across the entire bookshelf from left to right.
Da da da!
The shockwave swept through, sending books crashing to the floor. Some flew out with pages still turned, while others were thrown upright before falling back down, filling the room with dust.
The first row is full of genuine books.
She then scanned the entire second row.
Da da da!
Books flew everywhere; one hit the ceiling, bounced down, and hit Liu Erlong on the head. She smacked it off and continued sweeping.
On the far right of the second row, a dark blue thread-bound book was struck by the shockwave, and a flash of white light appeared.
Xie Yue transformed back into human form from the book, standing beside the bookshelf, a few scraps of paper scattered on his short, silver-white hair. His expression was calm, but the corners of his mouth were slightly downturned.
"The Hider Xie Yue is out!" the Clown Dwarf announced.
Liu Erlong laughed heartily, "Xie Yue, you changed your position, but I still managed to sweep you out!"
Xie Yue glanced at her. "You didn't find this; you just swept it up randomly."
Liu Erlong declared confidently, "Random sweeping is also a strategy!"
She rushed out of the study, gun in hand.
Time is ticking away, and she can't afford to dawdle.
Next, she went to the kitchen. Pushing open the door, she saw a stove, pots and pans, a pile of firewood, and a water tank. There were so many things that she didn't have time to look at them one by one.
Liu Erlong made an even bolder decision.
She stood at the kitchen doorway, held the gun level, and swept the entire kitchen from left to right in one go.
Da da da!
After that burst of fire, chaos erupted in the kitchen.
The pot was overturned, crashing to the ground with a loud bang. Bowls and plates flew off the shelf, shattering everywhere. The water vat made a buzzing sound as it was thrown, cracking open and water gushing out. The woodpile was scattered, firewood rolling all over the floor. Shovels, spoons, and chopstick holders were all swept away, clanging and clattering against the wall.
The place was a complete mess.
There was no white light.
There was no one in the kitchen.
Liu Erlong looked at the broken bowls and flowing water on the ground, and the corner of his mouth twitched.
"That's a bit much," she muttered to herself.
But she has no regrets whatsoever.
The feeling of firing a gun indiscriminately is so exhilarating. No need to aim, no need to think, just shoot whatever you see, if you hit it, you hit it, if you miss, move on to the next target.
She ran out of the kitchen and rushed into the backyard.
As she walked down the corridor, she saw three paintings hanging on the wall.
Three paintings. There was only one on the wall in the previous game.
Liu Erlong stopped, raised his gun, and fired three shots at the three paintings.
Tap! Tap! Tap!
The first picture's paper bulged and then deflated from the impact, but it's fine. The second picture's frame was crooked, but it's fine. The third picture showed a flash of white light.
Hu Liena transformed back into human form from the painting, sticking herself to the wall, her short rose-gold hair cascading down, her peach-blossom eyes wide open.
"How could you even scan paintings!"
Liu Erlong laughed and said, "There was only one painting on the wall last round, but there are three this round. Who else should we sweep if not you?"
Hu Liena huffed, "I thought you wouldn't notice!"
"The Hider, Hu Liena, is out!"
