"Oh? Tell me your thoughts."
Merlin did not furrow his brow at having his words interrupted. He chose to terminate his own lecturing and directly asked Sovell the reason for uttering such a remark.
When Sovell saw that Merlin did not directly reject his request, he continued:
"If my brain has to torture itself every time just to barely pull off a low-level Magecraft like Million Wind Blades...
My current strength is insufficient to deal with enemies of the intensity of my fath... the White Dragon."
Hearing what Sovell said, Merlin's mouth twitched a few times, and he desperately wanted to retort, but he held it back in the end.
Low-level Magecraft... Child, do you even hear what kind of outrageous nonsense you are saying...
As mentioned earlier, Merlin had always believed that Sovell's Origin was his greatest talent, though Sovell often thought of it and then promptly forgot it the very next second.
Take the wind blade Magecraft Sovell had just mentioned, for instance.
Wind blade Magecraft indeed could not be considered high-level Magecraft among Wind Attribute Magecraft, but if it were capable of threatening a Divine Beast-class Phantasmal Species, it was by no means a height that wind blade Magecraft could reach.
Yet Sovell could.
Sovell's own Origin of [Construction] allowed him to easily alter the structure of wind blades.
Coupled with a section of strengthened incantation, he could directly produce a million wind blades capable of threatening the Divine Beast (the White Dragon) at the very instant Merlin's seal wavered.
Consequently, it was forced to divert its energy to deal with these wind blades, rather than directly shrugging them off with brute force.
"So you want to open the seal and reclaim your Magecraft ability, is that it?"
"That's right."
Merlin chose to let Sovell consider it seriously once more:
"Are you sure?"
"Sure."
"Very well, I'll help you undo it."
Merlin did not refuse Sovell's proposal, even though Sovell's body and mind were still immature-after all, he had just turned fifteen.
Yet in Merlin's eyes, Sovell was already mature enough in his way of thinking. As for his decision, Merlin ought not to interfere further; at most, he could offer opinions, but the decision still had to be made by Sovell himself.
Seeing Merlin agree to his request, Sovell wore a smile and very consciously sat down.
Merlin also directly followed up by placing his right hand upon the crown of Sovell's head.
Countless pale golden spots of light dispersed from within Sovell's skull, and Merlin's left hand rose, gathering those points of light.
Before long, the spots of light ceased to scatter, instead gathering entirely in Merlin's left hand before disappearing.
At this moment, the White Dragon in Sovell's field of vision no longer wandered through the void, but instead looked down from the mountainside upon the sea of blood and pile of corpses at its feet, its gaze arrogant and cold.
Suddenly, the giant dragon raised its head and roared angrily toward the sky.
Sovell in the outside world successfully opened his Magic Circuits.
The boy looked at the vortex of wind on his hand; even though his face was distorted due to mental instability, the joy in his gaze was self-evident.
All his power was back-so much of it, and exceptionally useful!
Even as Merlin watched Sovell gradually begin to look somewhat deranged due to his distorted expression, he still refrained from making a move the entire time.
This was Sovell's own choice, and Merlin trusted that he could resolve it himself.
After all, this was his disciple.
Naturally, Sovell would not disappoint Merlin's expectations. After calming the magical energy that had been running wild inside his body due to the opening of the circuits, he turned his energy toward stabilizing his psychological state.
Roughly the time it took to burn an incense stick later, Sovell opened his eyes and stood up.
"All right, my mental state is basically just about there-
Say, Merlin, where are Lia and the others right now? How are they doing?"
"Hold on, let me take a look."
Inside Avalon, Merlin activated his Clairvoyance • Present Sight.
Clairvoyance, literally speaking, meant that one's eyesight was very good.
The lowest to the top-tier grades of Clairvoyance were merely enhancements to visual acuity, differing only in performance quality.
Yet only the EX-rank Clairvoyance could achieve arbitrary observation of the world, capable of doing so even without a line of sight.
To summarize roughly, there were three categories of EX-rank Clairvoyance: Past Sight, Present Sight, and Future Sight.
For instance, the ancient King of Israel, Solomon, the King of Magecraft, possessed Past and Future Sight.
Take another instance, the King of Sumer, Gilgamesh, who possessed two-thirds divinity, possessed Future Sight.
As for Merlin, what he possessed was Present Sight, which could observe any corner of the world at this very moment.
Although Merlin's effect looked the weakest among the three types of Clairvoyance, in a sense, Merlin's Clairvoyance was also the most powerful.
Not only did it hold a massive advantage in controllability and precision over the former two types of Clairvoyance.
It was all the more because Merlin could use Present Sight inside Avalon.
Avalon was situated within the Inner Sea of the Planet, and inside Avalon, time did not accumulate.
Therefore, the present that Merlin observed within Avalon was no longer the "present," but rather the "present" of any time.
To make an analogy, looking at the world from outside Avalon was akin to eating a cake on a conveyor belt; you could only eat each cake when it rotated in front of you, and every taste was different.
Yet inside Avalon, all the cakes on the entire conveyor belt were compressed into a single cake, and once you ate it, you tasted every flavor.
If needed, Merlin could simply stand on the conveyor belt and run backward to eat the cakes of the past without any problem at all.
This was why Merlin's Clairvoyance was said to be useless yet useful at the same time.
As for Sovell, who had lived in Avalon for eight years, why his body still grew during those eight years.
That was because the rule of the world that "time does not accumulate" only applied to spiritual bodies in the case of living beings.
Normal living beings possessing physical bodies would still grow and age.
This rule was also discovered by Merlin's teacher in the process of teaching Merlin and accompanying him through his growth.
After all, before Merlin entered Avalon, there were only Fairies in the form of spiritual bodies inside Avalon.
Whereas Merlin was a genuine semi-Fairy with a physical body.
Even though he could transform into a spiritual body, his physical flesh still existed, save that it only grew.
And once his physical body matured, the concept of aging did not exist for Merlin; this was precisely the characteristic of a Fairy.
"Lia and you headed north after leaving, walking in the direction of Saynor Manor.
Right now, they've reached... the estuary of the River Severn."
Describing the progress of Artoria and Kay to Sovell, Merlin closed his eyes.
After all, for Merlin, the pressure of sorting through timelines compressed down to a single point was not insignificant either.
This was why Merlin did not frequently activate Clairvoyance inside Avalon to observe the past and future, but instead synchronized his own Clairvoyance with the outside of Avalon before conducting his peering.
"The estuary of the River Severn... Indeed, with a day's time, hurrying along, it's just about right.
Well then, Merlin, I'll be off first-
Right, give me another petal."
Sovell bade farewell to Merlin and casually asked him for another petal.
The previous petal had already been used in the battle against the White Dragon to summon help from Merlin.
Namely, the half-petal that lay beside the White Dragon's feet after Sovell was sent flying with a single punch at the very start.
