The Holy Spear Longinus was a second holy spear, distinct from the Holy Spear Rhongomyniad.
According to legend, Jesus Christ suffered and was crucified on a Friday. The Jews requested that his body be taken down from the cross, as "criminals" could not be executed on the Saturday before the Sabbath (Sunday).
To confirm that Jesus Christ was indeed dead, a blind centurion thrust his spear into the side of his body.
The spear pierced it without resistance. Blood and water flowing from the body of the Son of God stained the entire spear red, and two drops fell into the centurion's eyes. His blind eyes instantly regained their sight.
The blood represented the atoning blood Jesus Christ shed for humanity's sins, symbolizing salvation and forgiveness.
The water represented baptism and rebirth. It signified that through Jesus Christ's sacrifice and resurrection, people could receive spiritual cleansing and new life.
From that moment on, the centurion believed that Jesus was the Savior. He retired from military service and became a monk, and the spear granted him the power to perform miracles.
He was later recognized as a saint, called "Saint Longinus." Longinus was the centurion's name.
The spear in his hand, stained with holy blood, also came to be known as the Spear of Longinus, the Holy Spear, and the Spear of Destiny.
If Rhongomyniad was a supreme and exalted "holy spear," representing the two great wills that protected humanity's physical laws;
then Longinus was a sacred and sanctified "holy spear," left in this world by Jesus Christ for humanity's salvation.
Who would have thought that after passing through so many hands, this spear would end up in Britain?
Sovell marveled inwardly, yet unconsciously took half a step back, putting a little more distance between himself and the spear.
