Background / History
Su Ye summoned the Withered Guard and named him A Da. Their connection allowed Su Ye to issue mental commands, communicate directly with him, and control whether he lived or died. Despite this control, A Da possessed reason and combat intelligence rather than functioning as a mindless puppet 86.
Su Ye taught him to drive shortly afterward. A Da understood the accelerator, brakes, and steering after only a few demonstrations and mastered ordinary driving within minutes. Su Ye then handed him the driver's seat, freeing himself to train while A Da drove and dealt with roadside monsters 90.
Appearance
- Heavy black armor: Covers him from head to toe, leaving only his eyes exposed. Changlu Gungun could not identify his nature beneath it 96.
- Towering build: Described as standing beside the Gale Ranger “like an iron tower” 101.
- Long saber: His characteristic weapon, carried while fighting and standing guard 90 128.
Personality
A Da is unfailingly obedient to Su Ye, whom he addresses as “Master.” He follows instructions even when he does not understand their purpose, but retains independent thoughts and logical judgment 86 110 131. His obedience extends to self-sacrifice: when told to die so Su Ye could summon him inside a secret realm, he immediately prepared to slit his own throat before Su Ye stopped him from acting prematurely 360.
He eagerly seeks opportunities to fight. Extended periods of driving leave his fighting instincts frustrated, and he specifically requests a duel after reaching Tier Three 206 261. In battle, he can be ruthless and reckless, trading wounds rather than defending himself. Outside combat, he also laughs, jokes, and responds sheepishly to Su Ye's criticism of his villain-like laughter 242 261 262.
His loyalty is particularly visible against the Neckgold Dragon. He volunteers to hold it off, intercepts an attack aimed at Su Ye, and commits to a final strike with no expectation of surviving 364.
Abilities & Skills
Attribute Inheritance
A Da's strength scales with Su Ye's attributes rather than through a separately documented training process 117 259 273.
- Receives 70% of Su Ye's attributes 86.
- Benefits immediately when Su Ye's attributes increase 117 259.
- Can reach a higher tier while Su Ye is still preparing his own breakthrough quest; A Da reaches Tier Four when Su Ye is at peak Tier Three 273.
Contract and Resurrection
The Withered Guard Contract allows Su Ye to restore A Da after death 86 147.
- Enables direct mental communication and remote commands 86 90.
- Restores A Da unharmed or at full health when resummoning is available 148 262.
- Enters a twenty-four-hour cooldown after activation, as shown during the Windhowl City defense 147.
- Cannot immediately restore him if that cooldown is still active; Su Ye must continue without him after the lava-abyss death 365.
- Resummoning is described as dependent on Su Ye remaining alive 261.
Saber Combat
A Da favors powerful, direct slashes and close-range pressure 96 128 261.
- Cleaves Changlu Gungun's incoming flames through raw strength, without using a flashy skill 96.
- Produces blade-light capable of splitting a boulder over ten meters tall 261.
- Detects attacks from behind through his high Mental Attribute and reacts quickly 261.
- Continues fighting despite wounds deep enough to expose bone, apparently disregarding pain 261.
- Possesses an offensive and a defensive skill at summoning, but their names and effects are not provided 86.
- Is not invulnerable: the Shadowscale warrior's boosted Fatal Strike kills him, and his saber barely marks the Neckgold Dragon's scales 261 364.
Unarmed Combat and Capture
A Da can subdue weaker opponents without relying on his saber 206.
- Cripples eight Red-Scale Clan monsters with physical blows in less than half a minute 206.
- Follows orders to leave targets alive and binds them with rope for others to finish 206.
Driving and Piloting
A Da becomes the Gale Ranger's regular driver and performs complex combat maneuvers 90 127 229.
- Uses air-cushion hovering to evade a Minotaur Chieftain's Charge Slash and cross magma fissures 127 197.
- Executes an arcing drift through narrow village alleys to avoid the Silence Lord 229.
- Uses ramming attacks against players and monsters 242 260 276 279.
- Tests true flight after the Wind God's Wings are installed, performing sharp turns, abrupt stops, and evasive maneuvers against Wind Blades 344.
Flight
A Da gains personal flight at Tier Three, allowing him to fight the Shadowscale warrior in midair 261.
- Remains subject to environmental restrictions: he cannot fly in the Dragon Neck Abyss 364.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Long saber — Used for executions, monster clearing, and duels; capable of releasing blade-light 97 128 261.
- Heavy black armor — Conceals his identity and withstands Changlu Gungun's attacks, although the flaming blade cuts into its breastplate 96 97.
- Gale Ranger — Su Ye's vehicle, which A Da regularly drives and pilots in combat 90 229 344.
- Motorcycle — Ridden alongside Su Ye and Xing Meng while exploring a fortress secret realm 224.
Relationships
- Su Ye — Summoner and master. Names A Da, teaches him to drive, commands him through their mental link, and resurrects him through the contract 86 90 147.
- Fifteen — Vehicle-support partner. A Da handles driving while Fifteen detects enemies and controls mounted weapons 166 276 344.
- Xing Meng — Fellow member of Su Ye's traveling group; fights alongside A Da and supports him with combat drones 197 224 318.
- Mo Yu — Benefits from A Da's capture of weakened tier-two monsters to complete his breakthrough quest 206.
- Whirlwind — Completes his tier-two breakthrough quest using the same captured monsters 206.

- Vehicle security: Guards the Gale Ranger during upgrades while Su Ye enters instances or trains 101 122.
- Golden Wheel scheme: Follows Su Ye's staged departure from Jin Pangpang's game and is praised for playing along 110 114.

Windhowl City Defense

- Returns through resurrection and reports the spawn location, ranged attackers, and the horde's five directions of advance 148.
- Kills two Troll Chiefs while Su Ye kills the other three, helping trigger the monster armies' morale collapse 153.

Azure Dragon Secret Realm
- Dies deliberately before entry so Su Ye can summon him inside the realm 362.
- Clears obstructing Wood Spirits and cuts through vines during the Hornwood Flood Dragon encounter 363.
- Protects Su Ye while crossing the disappearing bridges of the Dragon Neck Abyss, intercepting the Neckgold Dragon's beam 364.
- Falls into lava after the dragon dodges his all-out strike. His death is confirmed afterward, and the active summoning cooldown prevents his immediate return 364 365.
