"With that, things should finally be on track!"
Xi Yan stretched in his office and thought leisurely.
"Lord Marshal-"
Ailiveer came up in the elevator behind him, carrying a complete set of neatly folded clothes, and placed them on Xi Yan's desk.
The Little Secretary of State puffed out her chest and said in a tone that brooked no argument, "Lord Marshal! The M'tok Union's delegation has requested a meeting with the Empire's leadership."
"No. I'm in a bad mood. Leave them hanging for a day," Xi Yan grumbled.
"All right, I'll tell him to head over shortly," Beta answered for Xi Yan.
"Beta, the lemons are ripe."
"Sorry, nonexistent targets cannot be designated."
"You bastard."
Ailiveer scratched her head. "But we agreed on this time ages ago-oh well, we can postpone it. As long as you're happy."
"Forget it. I'll meet them after all." Xi Yan sat up and picked up the clothes prepared for him.
"All right! I'll arrange the virtual meeting right away!"
A radiant smile immediately blossomed on Ailiveer's little face, and she scampered away, her little leather shoes tapping against the floor.
Xi Yan sighed and headed into his Private Room to change, clothes in hand.

Xi Yan's projection appeared in the Amaterro System, dozens of light-years away. His vision blurred, and an all-metal room appeared before him: the administrative district of the Amaterro System's Starport.
He walked over to the window and gazed out into space through the vast floor-to-ceiling pane. The emerald-green Gaia Planet hung nearby, rotating at an extremely slow pace.
Wispy clouds hazily veiled the emerald planet, while the dim orange dwarf star cast a gentle light. Xi Yan could not help losing himself in the sight.
