Cybrex Newform Zero was the Interstellar Human Military Junta's first robot.
As such, it had been given special significance. It was seen as a symbol of friendship between humans and robots, and Xi Yan wanted to publicize it to gradually eliminate humanity's aversion to robots and the divide between them.
As its name suggested, its design incorporated technology from the precursor civilization, the Cybrex, because Beta's help had been indispensable to its development.
Using the limited information available on the Cybrex Civilization, Beta had spent the past five years helping research robotic technology. As a result, the Empire's robotics bore considerable traces of the Cybrex Civilization.
Following Stellaris's distinctive species-naming conventions, the robotic species was therefore not called "robots." Since it possessed traits of the Cybrex precursors, it was called "Cybrex Newforms."
Without Xi Yan even realizing it, the Cybrex precursor civilization had already helped him many times, whether through this Ring World, the arms factory, or Beta.
It would even help him once more when he fought the Contingency crisis in the future.
Out of gratitude, Xi Yan had agreed to let Beta slip a little personal addition into the robots' underlying code.
There was no need to worry about it being anything harmful.
Beta had added only a short line of code: upon detecting any object named "Contingency," immediately transmit its location, then shut down.
Supposedly, the Contingency would not change its own name. This was a thoroughly crude method, intended to prevent the Empire's robots from rebelling because of the Contingency.
If the Contingency was willing to change its name to evade detection, there was nothing anyone could do.
This was merely a little precaution of Beta's. If it did not work, no harm done; if it did, that was a bonus.
