Background / History
Spirit Hall and Flight with Lin Yan
Luo Tian was Jin Zhuan’s personal disciple and a Soul Emperor nurtured by Spirit Hall. His level-nine innate soul power and Death Spider Emperor martial soul led Jin Zhuan to regard his eventual advancement to Titled Douluo as inevitable with proper training. Instead, Luo Tian fell in love with Lin Yan, an Evil Soul Master, and injured his colleagues for her sake 45.
The couple spent more than a year on the run. Luo Tian had little opportunity to rest or recover from his injuries, leaving him severely weakened. He defended Lin Yan as different from other Evil Soul Masters, later explaining that he had never seen her consume flesh and blood during their relationship and that she loathed her own martial soul 45 47.
Rainy-Night Confrontation
Jin Zhuan intercepted the couple during a torrential downpour, joined by Zhao Changge, Qian Buduo, Sun Yan, and Li Xuemei. With two Soul Saints and an advanced Soul Douluo among their pursuers, Luo Tian and Lin Yan had no chance of overcoming them 45.
Lin Yan offered her life in exchange for Luo Tian’s freedom. Sun Yan, who secretly loved him, instead struck at Lin Yan in anger. Luo Tian pushed his wife aside and took the palm strike himself, suffering a shattered collarbone and coughing up blood. The couple’s declarations of love moved even Zhao Changge and Qian Buduo 45.
Sacrifice and Burial
Lin Yan went into labor, and the group sought shelter in a cave. Li Xuemei discovered that the baby was emerging feet-first and that both mother and child were losing vitality. Initially overwhelmed by panic, Luo Tian regained his composure after Li Xuemei slapped him and demanded that he focus on saving them 46.
Realizing that Lin Yan’s Soul-Eating Demon Spider could replenish her vitality, Luo Tian urged her to drain him. When she refused, he gathered soul power and threatened to slit his own throat. Lin Yan finally complied, drawing his blood and soul into herself. Luo Tian died within a few breaths, before their daughter was born 46.
Lin Yan subsequently transferred her remaining life force to the newborn and died as well. Jin Zhuan and the others buried the couple together. Jin Zhuan and Li Xuemei entrusted their daughter to an elderly couple in Phoenixsong Village, who named her Bibi Dong 47 48.
After Lin Yan revealed that she had been forcibly transformed into an Evil Soul Master, Jin Zhuan explicitly cited his trust in Luo Tian as a reason to believe her. The group’s report prompted Pope Qian Xunji to order a broad investigation into artificially created Evil Soul Masters 47.

Luo Tian was steadfast in his commitments. Jin Zhuan understood that once he made a decision, no one could change it, whether concerning his love for Lin Yan or his willingness to die for his family 46.
He acknowledged that he had wronged his teacher and colleagues but refused to equate Lin Yan with other Evil Soul Masters. During her difficult labor, fear briefly overwhelmed him; after being confronted by Li Xuemei, he apologized and turned his attention to finding a solution 45 46.
