Personality

Evil Lord is proud, intimidating, and willing to use coercion. He forces the Silver Moon Wolf King and Starlit Night Raven to accompany him, exploiting their fear of his strength. His preparations also protect his own clan: taking the two powerful Soul Beasts away removes potential threats to Evil Demon Forest during his absence 14 15.

He distinguishes defeat from injustice. He accepts that Huo Yuhao killed him after he exhausted his means of resistance, and says he could also accept death in battle or a failed Heavenly Tribulation. What he cannot accept is discovering that the Divine Realm forbids Soul Beasts from becoming gods regardless of their effort 22.

His concern for Huo Yuhao often appears as blunt advice or teasing. He notices the emotional distress Huo Yuhao hides from the other Soul Spirits, keeps his confidence, and later uses humor deliberately to keep him from withdrawing into sadness 4 11 30.

His attitude toward humans has softened enough to surprise Snow Empress and Ice Empress. In Heaven Dou City, he helps a frightened servant child pick up dropped belongings rather than punishing him. He then describes his own life—not merely his defeat by Huo Yuhao—as a failure 39.

Background / History

Previous Timeline and the Divine Realm

Before becoming Huo Yuhao’s companion, Evil Lord fought Di Tian over the Sky Dream Ice Silkworm to obtain resources for surviving Heavenly Tribulation. He also allowed the Holy Spirit Cult to remain in Evil Demon Forest in exchange for cultivation resources. Huo Yuhao eventually killed him and absorbed his Soul Ring and Soul Bone 22.

As a Soul Spirit, he accompanied Huo Yuhao into the Divine Realm and was introduced to Huo Yun’er alongside the other companions. Although he valued freedom from Heavenly Tribulations, he and the other Soul Beasts faced discrimination and spent much of their time at Huo Yuhao’s home or in the Undead Demiplane 3 4.

He became one of the few companions to recognize Huo Yuhao’s concealed unhappiness. Huo Yuhao admitted that cultivating the power of emotion was making his own feelings increasingly indifferent and had left him unable to use Hao Dong’s Three Ultimate Techniques. Evil Lord agreed not to tell the others 4.

Return to the Past

Evil Lord awakened in his original cave ten thousand years before the future he remembered. Initially uncertain whether his experiences were real, he sensed the External Soul Bone associated with Huo Yuhao and established a spiritual connection. Through it, he killed Pete before the Evil Soul Master could finish off the injured Huo Yuhao 10.

Their reunion confirmed that both retained memories of the future. Evil Lord considered other routes to godhood but concluded that Huo Yuhao remained his safest choice because of the Soul Spirit Contract, his previous ascension, his experience with three Soul Cores, and the support of the other companions 10.

While Huo Yuhao recovered and traveled, Evil Lord monitored his condition and provided the Evil Eye Clan’s cultivation method. This allowed Huo Yuhao to rebuild his spiritual power despite being unable to practice his former techniques 11 12.

Gathering Companions

Once Huo Yuhao awakened his Martial Soul, Evil Lord instructed him not to add Soul Rings yet and agreed to meet him in the Far North. Before departing, he ordered the senior Evil Eyes to guard their forest and cultivate diligently 14.

He then compelled the Silver Moon Wolf King and Starlit Night Raven to accompany him. Both were powerful Soul Beasts who had failed their next Heavenly Tribulations in the future he remembered; recruiting them also prevented them from threatening his clan while he was away 14 15.

After crossing the ocean, he reunited with Huo Yuhao in the Far North and reassured the wary local Soul Beasts that his party meant no harm. He later pressed the Wolf King and Raven to decide who would first contract with Huo Yuhao 19 21.

Rescue of Sky Dream

Evil Lord agreed to help rescue the imprisoned Sky Dream Ice Silkworm from Star Dou Forest. Before the operation, he openly explained the Divine Realm’s prohibition against Soul Beast godhood, prompting Snow Empress and Ice Empress to question Huo Yuhao about their future 21 22.

At the Lake of Life, he used his spiritual power to draw out Di Tian and the other Ferocious Beasts. He joined Snow Empress against Di Tian, then struck while Di Tian was exhausted, forcing him to accept their demands without pursuing a fight to the death 24 25 26.

When Zi Ji injured Huo Yuhao and triggered a Chaos Energy eruption, Evil Lord went to fetch Bi Ji to examine him. After the rescue, he negotiated the group’s temporary stay and later their departure when Di Tian accused them of trying to lure away the Auspicious Beast 26 27 28 31.

Sunset Forest and Heaven Dou City

Evil Lord concealed the companions during their flight to Sunset Forest and promised to intervene if Huo Yuhao encountered danger at the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well. He subsequently helped restrain Dugu Bo so Huo Yuhao could speak with him 33 34.

After the group settled at the well, he continued following Huo Yuhao’s unstable condition and accompanied him, Snow Empress, and Ice Empress into Heaven Dou City. Snow Empress introduced him to Dugu Yan as A-Xie, a less conspicuous name for human society 38 39 40.
