Personality

Megumi is cautious and protective, particularly where Itadori’s survival is concerned. He accompanies Itadori around campus partly to prevent a confrontation between Sukuna and other sorcerers, and his anger over unauthorized body-switching comes from knowing how much effort he and Gojo are putting into keeping Itadori alive 3 8. His teaching serves the same purpose: he wants his teammate to become stronger and live longer 6.

His outward irritation often conceals patience and kindness. Despite his sour expression, he calmly answers Itadori’s questions about school. He also helps choose Sukuna’s clothes and joins Itadori in treating Nobara to a birthday dinner, eventually relaxing into their quiet celebration 3 16 37.

Megumi finds direct expressions of affection or gratitude embarrassing. After Sukuna saves the Divine Dogs, he offers a private petting session as thanks, then agonizes over whether the gesture was childish. Sukuna’s Revival and Itadori’s Enrollment

Megumi is present when Sukuna awakens inside Itadori and supplies information that helps the amnesiac Sukuna establish his identity. Sukuna’s initial intervention saves Megumi as well as Itadori’s upperclassmen 1.

After his injuries heal, Megumi helps Itadori navigate Jujutsu High. He is unsettled by Itadori openly feeding Sukuna through a mouth on his hand, but still explains the cafeteria and the school’s small student population 2 3. During Gojo’s business trips, he assumes responsibility for morning lessons and introduces the newcomers to the second-years 5 6.

Monitoring Sukuna

Megumi confronts Itadori after discovering that he let Sukuna take control in a restroom. When he learns that Sukuna can heal both Itadori and other people, he tells Itadori to keep that ability secret until Gojo returns 8 9.

He initially prohibits switching during their clothing-shopping trip unless Gojo is present. Once Gojo supervises the outing, however, Megumi helps Sukuna select outfits without treating him differently from Itadori 16.

Eishu Juvenile Detention Center

Megumi guides the first-years through the detention center’s incomplete innate domain. Sukuna’s warning saves his Divine Dogs from an ambush, after which Megumi leaves the Special Grade to Sukuna and searches for Nobara 21 22.

Finding Nobara out of nails, he shields her from a curse swarm and prepares to retreat. Sukuna arrives after defeating the Special Grade and destroys the remaining curses, including their hidden Grade 1 source 24.

The team recovers all five bodies. Megumi suspects the assignment may have been arranged to test Sukuna, since enemies of that strength should not normally have been assigned to first-years while Gojo was away. He resolves to strengthen himself so he can contribute more in future emergencies 25.

Gratitude and Growing Acceptance

Megumi acknowledges privately that Sukuna’s arrival made him feel saved. After Sukuna returns from his prolonged sleep, Megumi welcomes him back and asks whether anything happened to him 25 27.

He later visits Itadori’s room and lets Sukuna pet the white Divine Dog as thanks for saving it. His embarrassment over the visit leads to the cafeteria misunderstanding about what Sukuna had been allowed to “pet” 29 30.

Following Sukuna’s birthday party, Megumi begins tacitly accepting brief switches when outsiders will not notice. Sukuna subsequently heals his training injuries 38 40.

Goodwill Event Preparations and Junpei’s Arrival

Megumi joins Itadori and Nobara in pursuing victory at the Goodwill Event so Maki’s strength will become harder for the Zenin Clan to suppress. The shared goal drives the first-years to train harder 39 40.

When Junpei enrolls, Megumi welcomes him as a classmate. Junpei’s attentive listening and thoughtful questions make a particularly favorable impression on him as an instructor 49 50.
