Chrollo and Cordis crossed the scorching desert, with Chrollo using [Skill Hunter] to shield them from the sun and supply water. As they discussed Chust and the Tower of Love, Cordis asked whether Chrollo wanted to know about his past, and Chrollo agreed.
Cordis told Chrollo how his mother killed Si Dun, the person he had loved most before turning ten. They reached a tropical jungle inexplicably appearing in the desert, where Cordis discovered Chrollo felt cool despite the heat.
Cordis and Chrollo were captured by the Tass, who covered their faces with mud and locked them in a hut before offering them to their god. Chrollo concealed them inside a coffin with copied substitutes, planning to escape and find a way into the Tower of Love to reach Chust.
Cordis and Chrollo hid inside a coffin while the Tass tribespeople performed a sacrificial ritual, using substitute dolls in their place. After the coffin was carried toward the underground Tower of Love, they remained trapped inside as it was taken down the tribe’s deadly slide.
Cordis and Chrollo reached the Tower of Love, where Cordis collapsed after entering a jeweled palace. In a Christmas-town vision, Cordis discovered a scene of a woman and child violently abusing a dog.
Cordis confronted a woman who called him Pai Pai, then reunited with Si Dun in a collapsing dream and woke in the palace. Chrollo took all the gemstones Cordis had collected, leaving him empty-handed.
Cordis left the desert with Chrollo, then stopped to collect his custom Febola Stone jewelry on the way to Yorknew City. After being charged two million for earrings and running for a day and night, he was woken by Hisoka, whose teasing greeting prompted Cordis to punch him.
Cordis tried to escape Hisoka, but Hisoka caught up with him at a country inn and attacked him. Cordis wounded Hisoka with a blood blade and bit his hand, which only excited Hisoka further, leaving Cordis still trapped beneath him.
Cordis escaped Hisoka’s advances at an inn, but Hisoka later sneaked into his bed and held him until noon. After remembering Kurapika and their September 1 deadline, the pair set off for Yorknew City, though Hisoka proposed taking an airship when they fell behind schedule.
Cordis and Hisoka traveled by airship to meet the Phantom Troupe before September 1. Chrollo announced that the Spider would seize every treasure at the underground auction and kill anyone who stood in their way.
Cordis worried about Gon and Killua amid the coming violence in Yorknew City, so he asked to leave the Spider’s group and find them. He reunited with Gon and Killua at the trading market, and the chapter ended with an author’s note hinting that Yorknew’s events would change Cordis’s life.
Cordis reunited with Leorio, Gon, and Killua, then warned the boys to stay away from the Phantom Troupe. After spending the day shopping with them, he returned to the Spider and was invited to play a new card game.
After the underground auction’s merchandise disappeared, Cordis accepted Chrollo’s offer to kill the Ten Dons for two million JN and went to their manor. He entered the dark, unguarded building and saw a long-haired figure appear at the end of a corridor.
Cordis encountered Illumi, who attacked him and demanded to know where Killua was before strangely teasing him about Hisoka and reaching for his eyes. After Cordis wounded and healed him, Illumi patted Cordis on the head, stirring Cordis’s familiar heart-racing reaction.
Cordis flirted with Illumi before discovering that Illumi had already killed the Ten Dons, the targets of Chrollo’s commission. Chrollo asked Cordis to make the dead men speak over video, and Cordis began developing a way to control his aura.
Cordis finished threading aura through the Ten Dons, then arrived at Uvogin’s fight with Kurapika and discovered his former companion was confronting the Spider. Cordis claimed he had been forced to come along and watched from a nearby mountaintop as Kurapika bound Uvogin with his chain.
Kurapika interrogated Uvogin about the other members of the Spider, but Uvogin refused to betray them and died when Kurapika’s Judgment Chain pierced his heart. Kurapika won, but felt no happiness in his victory.
After Uvogin died, Cordis carried his body back to the Spider, while Kurapika left after sharing an ambiguous farewell with Cordis. The Spider mourned Uvogin and resolved to avenge him, and Cordis concealed Kurapika’s identity from Chrollo.
After Uvogin’s death, Nobunaga attacked Cordis for failing to save him, while the other Spiders mourned their fallen companion. As Cordis helped clean Uvogin’s body, he questioned the meaning of his own life and found himself without a goal.
After Uvogin's death, Cordis struggled with guilt over choosing not to save him and withdrew from the Spiders. Meanwhile, Gon and Killua followed a lead on the Spiders, who were waiting in public for the chain user.
Gon and Killua followed Nobunaga and Machi, hoping to claim a bounty, but the Phantom Troupe caught them. Pakunoda called Cordis, who promised to come get the boys and was furious with them.
Cordis confronted Gon and Killua after they secretly followed the Spider, but Nobunaga threatened to keep the boys from leaving unless they joined. Gon stood up to Nobunaga and called him an old man, leaving the confrontation unresolved.
Cordis rescued Gon and Killua from the Spider’s meeting place after a smoke bomb filled it with paralytic poison, then urged the boys to stay away from the Spider. He accepted that he might have severed ties with the group and suggested that they rest.
Cordis took Gon and Killua shopping in a Yorknew City mall, where he spent his entire two million on a discounted platinum-colored handkerchief. When he realized the boys had disappeared, he searched for them until someone pulled him into an alley.
Cordis ran into Hisoka, learned that Chrollo was in town, and waited with him for the auction while Gon and Killua checked in safely. When Cordis spotted Neon heading into the mall, he realized they might still get drawn into looking for Chrollo.
