After helping Shisui log out of the metaverse, Naruto glanced at Kurama and Wolffy, who were still having a blast inside, then logged out himself.
When he took off his Virtual Headset, Shisui was already gone. Only a Virtual Headset lay abandoned on the dead log.
Like Shisui, Naruto had been trying out the Virtual Headset for the first time.
His first experience with it had been pretty good. It really felt like stepping into a second world.
Especially the feeling of being a GM in there. That was downright amazing.
Just then, Zeff walked over from where he had been training Rock Lee nearby.
"Naruto, how did things go with Shisui?"
Naruto shrugged at the question. "Shisui wasn't as easy to fool as I'd imagined. And I suspect he'll tell the Third Hokage about what happened today!"
Zeff frowned at Naruto's words.
Zeff didn't want to comment too much on the Third. All he could say was that the man wasn't a good person, but he was a very capable politician.
Konoha's arrangements and actions in recent years made it clear that the Third had been maintaining what he considered peace.
Especially after the Fourth Hokage's death, Konoha's situation had become precarious, with the other four ninja villages poised to strike back at any moment.
From that point onward, the Third had ceased to be a Hokage and become a politician, because only a politician's methods could keep that peace intact.
For instance... handing some of Konoha's commissions over to the Land of Wind. Or surrendering Hizashi Hyuga, the younger brother of the Hyuga Clan's head, to preserve the peace treaty with Kumogakure.
Those weren't the actions of a Shinobi Hero at all. They were entirely the actions of a politician who sacrificed some interests for his village.
