Thud...
The ground seemed to tremble.
"Hahaha!!"
Bor's crazed laughter rang out through a hall.
Yang Bo and Blade exchanged a look, both looking helpless.
"Yang, I think this guy's gone crazy!"
"Yeah, I think so too!"
Yang Bo nodded in agreement with Blade. Ever since killing a vampire, Bor had been caught up in a deeply abnormal frenzy.
A blood-red glow rose from Bor's hands, and before long, the vampire beneath him stopped moving.
"Ha! That's what you get for mocking me!"
With that, he transformed into a bat again and flapped his wings, taking flight. A group of armed vampires rushed out of the elevator. Yang Bo pulled out his shield and crossbow, while Blade drew the long sword from his back.
Seeing them, Bor flew straight over the vampires' heads and canceled his transformation.
Hundreds of pounds of fat fell from the sky, giving the vampires no time to react. He crushed three of them beneath him, and the impact left the others reeling.
"Bor??!"
"Damn it, Bor, what the hell do you think you're doing, you fat pig?"
Apparently, the vampire community wasn't all that large. Many vampires knew Bor, mainly because his physique was so unforgettable.
At the words "fat pig," Bor's face immediately darkened. Hatred shone in his tiny eyes as he fixed his gaze on the vampire who had insulted him.
"Bick, what do I think I'm doing? I'm going to slaughter you!"
He activated his blood-draining ability. Streams of blood flew out of the vampire named Bick and flowed into Bor's body. Under attack, Bick immediately cried out in panic.
"Damn it, kill him!"
Bick was the first to raise his gun and pull the trigger at Bor. There was no need to aim-with a target that huge, even missing on purpose would have been difficult. Bang, bang, bang.
A string of bullets tore into Bor's body, but he remained completely unfazed. That was how fearless a tank-build fighter could be, especially one equipped with lifesteal.
The instant the gunfire rang out, a crossbow bolt flew over and struck a vampire. Yang Bo's icy voice followed.
"He wants to slaughter you. Can't you just behave yourselves and let him?"
The other vampires: "..."
Easy for you to say. You're not the one getting slaughtered!
Another crossbow bolt shot out, knocking a vampire back again, while all their attacks were blocked by a wooden shield.
A dark figure darted in from the side, wielding a silvery-white sword as he leaped into the group of vampires. A few flourishes of his blade killed four or five of them. When the remaining vampires saw Blade, they looked as though they'd seen a ghost.
"It's Blade!"
"Run!!"
Ever since Blade had killed Frost, his reputation among New York's vampires had become practically universal. You could sell his photograph to ordinary households to hang up and ward off evil.
"Blade, you're stealing kills again! If I'd known, I wouldn't have come with you!"
Yang Bo helplessly put away his weapons and picked up some of the [Vampire Fangs] dropped on the ground.
Glancing at the fleeing vampires, Yang Bo caught up to the one named Bick and raised his hand, delivering a resounding slap. Relying on Minecraft's knockback effect, he slapped him all the way back to Bor, utterly unconcerned about how much psychological trauma those slaps might cause.
A silvery-white streak flew toward the other fleeing vampires. It was a silver-laced throwing blade, another of Blade's signature weapons and an outright affront to science. After killing every vampire it targeted, it flew back into Blade's hand, without the slightest regard for reason.
Of the dozen or so vampires, only four remained. Yang Bo felt helpless. Blade was the vampires' natural nemesis, killing almost all of them in one hit and leaving Yang Bo no chance to land the finishing blow unless they arranged it beforehand.
"Bor, how are you doing?"
Seeing Bick returned to him, Bor's face filled with excitement. "I'm great. I've never felt better!"
"All right, then. I'll leave these to you!"
He kicked Bick, sending him sprawling in front of Bor. Without hesitation, Bor aimed the blood-red glow in his hands at him again.
As his blood-draining ability took effect, the bullets lodged in his body were squeezed out one by one, rolling off him and landing on the floor with clear clinks.
Leaving Bor to it, Yang Bo walked over to Blade and said with a hint of resentment, "Blade, didn't we work pretty well together last time?"
Blade stylishly sheathed his sword behind his back, then glanced at Bor. "I was worried the guy I went to all that trouble to bring you would die here!"
After a pause, he continued, "Looks like I was worried for nothing!"
"I didn't expect you to care about him so much!"
Yang Bo smiled and headed toward the elevator, intending to clear out the vampires upstairs as well.
Blade's voice came from behind him. "I just didn't want to waste half a day of my time..."
Now inside the elevator, Yang Bo used his ability to see the vampires still alive in the building and silently pressed the button for the third floor. He called to Bor, who stood by the doors, "Bor, wait downstairs. Be careful not to die!"
The elevator doors slowly closed, and the hum of the motor filled his ears as it began to rise. Yang Bo took out his shield and readied himself, because he could see several vampires lined up at the elevator entrance to welcome him.
The S.H.I.E.L.D. Special Recovery Center.
Although it was already late at night, a number of people were still busy inside a special room.
Coulson stood before an enormous glass wall, gazing with excitement at the handsome man lying inside a special chamber.
"Phil! How's he doing?"
Hearing the voice, Coulson turned to look. The newcomer was S.H.I.E.L.D.'s current director, Nick Fury. His head resembled a peeled egg, and a black, pirate-like eyepatch covered one eye. He walked up to the glass wall and looked at Captain America lying in the hospital room.
"Director!"
"Steve Rogers is recovering well. At his current rate of recovery, he should wake up in another two days!"
Fury nodded, then turned toward Coulson, his gaze sharpening as he asked, "You went to contact that man with special abilities again tonight, didn't you?"
"What do you think of him?"
Coulson nodded slightly and answered with great seriousness, "He's very mysterious!"
"He has some incredible abilities, and I get the feeling he knows a lot of things we don't."
"There's no way to accurately gauge his strength!"
Nick Fury lowered his head in thought at that, then said, "Put together a report and submit it to me!"
With that, he turned his gaze back to Captain America, the idea of forming a special team growing ever stronger in his mind.
