Hermione Granger, a transmigrator trapped in New York in the Marvel world, used a magical spellbook to earn money and improve her spells. With Hogwarts term approaching, she selected the castle symbol and returned to her familiar room in the Harry Potter world.
Hermione used the magic book to travel between the Marvel and HP worlds, then rode the Hogwarts Express and arrived at the castle for the Sorting. After secretly hexing Malfoy and repairing Harry’s glasses, she caught the attention of McGonagall and Dumbledore as the first-years entered the Great Hall.
Hermione was sorted into Gryffindor after overruling the Sorting Hat’s inclination to place her in Slytherin, then began her first day at Hogwarts by reading about the school’s history. The chapter leaves her in Professor McGonagall’s classroom as a gray-and-white cat approaches her.
Hermione watched Professor McGonagall demonstrate Transfiguration and instantly learned her Animagus form through the magic book. When Ron doubted Hermione had learned magic already, she transformed Harry’s quill into a rat and told Ron to eat it.
Hermione established her authority over Harry and Ron with her Transfiguration, then drew Snape’s attention in Potions class after Harry claimed she knew the answers. She calmly answered Snape’s questions despite reading A History of Hogwarts, leaving him to respond to her challenge.
Hermione mastered Hogwarts magic, secretly copied spells from the Half-Blood Prince’s Advanced Potion-Making, and returned to Marvel with Sectumsempra available to defend herself. She went back to the grilled-meat shop where she had worked and entered invisibly after hearing shouting inside.
Hermione tested Dark Harvest in Hell’s Kitchen by killing criminals and discovered that nearby deaths also gave her soul energy. After three hours of harvesting, she was two points from reaching magic level 2 and realized that Tony Stark might have just been kidnapped.
Hermione struggled to make money and evade notice in Hell’s Kitchen before returning to Hogwarts for her first flying lesson. She could summon her broom only after several tries, then sat sideways on it rather than straddling it, leaving Ron silenced.
Hermione saved Neville from a dangerous broom accident during Flying Class, then watched Malfoy provoke Harry by stealing Neville’s Remembrall. The chapter ended with Hermione urging Harry to chase Malfoy into the air.
Harry chased Malfoy’s thrown Remembrall on his broom, impressing Professor McGonagall, who recruited him as Gryffindor’s Seeker and Hermione as a Beater. The chapter ended with Oliver Wood looking dismayed at McGonagall’s announcement.
Wood explained Quidditch to Hermione and Harry and watched Hermione hit a Bludger with alarming force. Hermione proposed increasingly ruthless ways to win, leaving Wood sweating as she lined up her bat with his head.
Hermione advanced her magic to level two after practicing broom control, then returned to the Marvel Universe and learned that FBI agents had been asking about her. She deliberately waited in a café under a surveillance camera, hoping to draw S.H.I.E.L.D. into helping her obtain an identity and a legal pretext for hunting criminals.
Hermione confronted Natasha Romanoff and Agent Jason, mistaking them for possible Ministry of Magic agents while revealing that she believed herself to be a witch. Natasha tried to dismiss Hermione’s claims, but when Hermione threatened to erase their memories, she stopped her and prepared to explain S.H.I.E.L.D.’s interest.
Natasha questioned Hermione about a series of unnatural deaths, but Hermione revealed her magic and admitted she had killed the men. As Natasha realized Hermione belonged to a hidden wizarding society, Hermione asked how S.H.I.E.L.D. had identified her, and Natasha said surveillance cameras had captured her.
Hermione explained how S.H.I.E.L.D. had identified her and nearly erased Natasha’s memories, but Natasha persuaded her to preserve their partnership. Natasha left the café to report to her director, while Hermione hinted that she had secretly prepared a spell.
Natasha and S.H.I.E.L.D. realized Hermione could erase memories and secretly investigated the wizarding world, while Hermione prepared to use their interest to her advantage. Back at Hogwarts, she continued practicing magic and asked Neville to swap seats with her.
Hermione avoided Seamus’s explosive spell, then received a Nimbus 2000 alongside Harry. A newspaper report about a break-in at Gringotts led Harry to accidentally reveal that Hagrid had retrieved something from Vault 713, and Hermione realized the Philosopher’s Stone was now at Hogwarts.
Hermione returned to the Marvel Universe, discovered that the Spellbook could analyze and store her Nimbus 2000, and met Phil Coulson after Natasha was injured. Coulson brought her to S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters, where he led her to Natasha’s hospital room.
Hermione used magic to heal Natasha's injuries and remove her scar, astonishing Natasha and Coulson. They then met S.H.I.E.L.D. director Nick Fury, whom Hermione trusted simply because Natasha did.
Nick Fury questioned Hermione about wizarding society and learned that she was a Hogwarts student whose movements were restricted, though she refused to explain why. He then asked her to help locate the missing Tony Stark, leaving Hermione to suspect he was testing her abilities.
Hermione agreed to use her Prophecy Spell to check on Tony Stark by foreseeing the future of someone close to him. When Pepper Potts doubted that Hermione could help, Hermione magically immobilized her, leaving the prophecy attempt unresolved.
Hermione showed Pepper, Nick Fury, Natasha, and Coulson images from her memories of Tony Stark’s future, passing them off as a prophecy and reassuring Pepper that Tony would be rescued. She warned them not to let their knowledge of the future dictate their choices, because the future was not fixed.
Hermione persuaded Fury and the others to let events surrounding Tony Stark unfold normally, then pretended to suffer from prophecy to secure favors and resources from S.H.I.E.L.D. After she flew away, Sitwell reported her powers to an elderly man in Washington, who decided to take control of her.
Hermione led Harry and Ron to find the troll in the girls' bathroom and killed it with a shield and its own club. She collected its blood and gained soul energy before McGonagall and the other teachers arrived.
Hermione, Harry, and Ron were punished after Hermione killed a troll, and Hagrid took them and Malfoy into the Forbidden Forest to investigate an injured unicorn. Hermione collected some unicorn blood while the others searched nearby.
