Background / History
Guardian of the Imperial Family
Jia Xingtian protected the imperial family’s rule by monitoring rival powers. He watched the Misty Cloud Sect for signs that it might overthrow the dynasty, obstructed Queen Medusa’s efforts to lead her people out of the Tagor Desert, and intercepted Snake-People raids against humans 11 47.
After Chen Xuan’s battle with Snake Ji, Jia Xingtian investigated the desert battlefield alongside Yun Shan. He recognized Snake Ji’s residual Dou Qi but initially rejected Yun Shan’s identification of the other fighter as Medusa: the destructive black energy differed sharply from her familiar Dou Qi. Concerned that the tribe’s increased strength threatened the throne, he headed toward its territory 11.
Infiltration and Defeat
Jia Xingtian entered the Snake-People Holy City when its Eight Leaders left their defensive posts. Probing the Sacred Hall with soul power, he discovered four Dou Emperor elders—bringing the tribe’s total, including Medusa, to five. Imperial investigations had previously identified only Medusa and Snake Ji 19.
Chen Xuan, controlling Medusa’s body, detected his probe. Jia Xingtian fled and easily outpaced the elders and leaders, but Chen Xuan caught him in the desert. During their battle, he recognized that the Fang Tian Painted Halberd was feeding energy into its wielder and increasing “Medusa’s” strength 19 20.
His strongest technique, Phoenix dances through the nine heavens, was erased by the explosion of Chen Xuan’s uncontrolled Heaven-Rank Heavenly Dao Halberd Technique. Jia Xingtian survived with extensive wounds and an unstable aura 20 21.
Relocation Agreement
Rather than kill him, Chen Xuan proposed cooperation. Jia Xingtian welcomed the prospect of the Snake-People Tribe leaving the empire, since its departure would remove a major threat to imperial rule. He accepted the following terms 21:
| Term | Agreement |
|---|---|
| Migration route | Unrestricted passage through the Jia Ma Empire’s cities, from the Tagor Desert toward the Black-Corner Region 21. |
| Departure deadline | The Snake-People Tribe would leave within ten years 21. |
| Compensation | Eight Dou Ling Pills for trespassing and probing the tribe’s secrets; payment also secured Jia Xingtian’s release 21 26. |
After returning gravely injured, Jia Xingtian entered seclusion and ordered Jia Ye to gather eight sets of pill ingredients. Three years later, he explained the tribe’s strength and the terrifying technique behind his defeat. He presented the pills as part of the relocation bargain, withholding that they were also the price of his life 26.
Diplomatic Cooperation
Jia Xingtian personally escorted the eight completed Dou Ling Pills to the Holy City with Jia Ye and Guest Elder Gu He. During the visit, Jia Ye secured conditional agreement for future trade once the Snake-People Tribe established itself in the Black-Corner Region 28.
Learning that “Medusa” was a peak fourth-grade alchemist approaching the fifth grade further changed Jia Xingtian’s assessment of her influence. He instructed Jia Ye to befriend the tribe rather than antagonize it, and the two offered another two Dou Ling Pills as an investment in closer ties 29 30.
Black Rock City
Jia Xingtian rushed to Black Rock City after Medusa caused destruction there, fearing that she had abandoned their agreement. He relaxed only after she assured him that she had come for a medicinal ingredient and would not attack the city 43.
He remained present when Lu Man and Bai Ya of the Heavenly Snake Mansion arrived. During Medusa’s attack on them, he erected a protective barrier around the surrounding area. Although the shock wave shattered it, the onlookers remained unharmed 44 46.
Appearance
- Elderly man in luxurious robes — his appearance when investigating the Tagor Desert battlefield 11.
- Severely disheveled after his defeat — torn clothing, wounds across his body, and blood at the corner of his mouth replace his earlier composed bearing 21.
Personality
Jia Xingtian is fiercely protective of the imperial family’s position. Even after his defeat, he declares that he would die rather than surrender its throne. His suspicion of both the Misty Cloud Sect and the Snake-People Tribe stems from their ability to threaten dynastic rule 11 21.
He is also pragmatic and politically calculating. Once he understands that the tribe intends to leave, he accepts cooperation despite the costly pill demand. He conceals the humiliating circumstances of that payment from his son and later advocates friendship when Medusa’s apparent alchemical talent makes confrontation still less attractive 21 26 30.
Abilities & Skills
Dou Qi and Aerial Movement
Jia Xingtian uses yellow-brown, earthen-yellow Dou Qi and forms Dou Qi Wings for flight 20 46.
- His Peak Dou Emperor speed far exceeds that of Snake Ji and the tribe’s Dou Wang leaders, despite speed not being his specialty 19.
- Chen Xuan nevertheless catches him while controlling Medusa’s body 20.
Phoenix dances through the nine heavens
An Earth-tier Low-grade Dou Technique that gathers energy from heaven and earth into a massive phantom phoenix 20.
- Produces a phoenix nearly fifty meters long during his battle with Chen Xuan 20.
- Jia Xingtian identifies it as his strongest available technique 21.
- The uncontrolled Heaven-Rank explosion destroys the phoenix and gravely injures him 20 21.
Phoenix Escape
A defensive technique that draws earthen-yellow energy from the ground to enclose an area in a protective shield 46.
- Used to protect those nearby from Medusa’s attack on Bai Ya and Lu Man 46.
- The shield breaks under the shock wave, but those outside the attack’s center remain unharmed 46.
Soul Power and Energy Perception
Jia Xingtian uses soul power for reconnaissance and can identify familiar Dou Qi traces 11 19.
- Recognizes Snake Ji’s energy at the desert battlefield 11.
- Detects the four hidden Dou Emperor elders inside the Sacred Hall 19.
- His covert probe is detected by Chen Xuan 19.
- Notices the halberd’s energy feedback during combat, but remains puzzled by Medusa’s alternating black and red Dou Qi 20 45.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Storage Ring — carries the eight Dou Ling Pills delivered to the Snake-People Tribe 28.
- Imperial token — given to Chen Xuan for unrestricted travel through the empire. The golden token bears the character “Jia” and an image of the Nether Sea Flood Dragon Beast; its authority is equivalent to the emperor’s presence. Chen Xuan uses it to enter Mo City unhindered 48.
Relationships
- Jia Ye — son and reigning emperor. Jia Xingtian directs his response to the Snake-People Tribe and advises him to pursue friendship rather than hostility 26 30.
- Queen Medusa — longstanding adversary who becomes a cooperation partner. He initially obstructs her tribe’s departure, then relies on their agreement to preserve peace 11 43.
- Chen Xuan — defeats him while occupying Medusa’s body and negotiates his release. Jia Xingtian attributes these actions to Medusa; the passages do not show him learning about their shared body 20 21 26.
- Yun Shan — rival Peak Dou Emperor and leader of the Misty Cloud Sect. Their exchanges are openly barbed, and Jia Xingtian monitors the sect as a threat to imperial rule 11.
- Snake Ji — previous combat opponent. Their earlier encounter ended in a draw; she later pursues him after his infiltration of the Holy City 11 19.
- Gu He — imperial Guest Elder who accompanies him on the pill-delivery visit and attempts to purchase the tribe’s Heavenly Flame 28 29.
