Du Yu discovered that Liu Ling's Wife and the servant had left town after their affair became public, putting his attempt to advance the legend in jeopardy. Meanwhile, Shiranui Jinkuro arrived at the Legend Management Bureau, revealed that A-Xiang was only an Apprentice Onmyoji, and urgently warned that Du Yu's changes to the legend would make the situation harder to resolve.
Shiranui Jinkuro rushed to find Liu Ling because mysterious threads were pursuing them. Jin Jianglang severed or drove away the threads, then learned Liu Ling was only a lonely ghost.
Shiranui Jinkuro severed Liu Ling’s influences, letting time erase the altered history, and Shiranui Asuka pressured him into agreeing to work with Du Yu’s Legend Management Bureau. Cowherd then urged Liu Ling to follow Du Yu, who offered him fine liquor from every dynasty.
Du Yu gathered the new Operators and asked Shiranui Jinkuro whether his thread-cutting ability could help Lady Houtu, but Jinkuro said severing powerful historical influences was beyond his strength. Jinkuro explained the seven kinds of threads and their talismans, leaving the group without a clear way to solve Houtu’s situation.
Du Yu tried to secure Jin Jianglang’s help in changing the past of the founder of the Chinese Underworld, but Jin Jianglang warned that Thread-Cutting could bring Heaven’s punishment and his scissors might not be strong enough. Shen Shi examined the scissors and explained that their rare Eight-Branched Serpent bone material could not be replicated, leaving the group searching for a way to obtain a stronger tool.
The Queen Mother of the West arranged to obtain the Three Firmament Immortals' Golden Flood Dragon Scissors so the Legend Management Bureau could use flood dragon bones against change. Afterward, Du Yu visited Xie Yujiao to ask about her role as a Reincarnator and her formation work.
Xie Yujiao revealed that she was a Forgotten One who had reincarnated repeatedly without entering the Underworld or losing her memories. After hearing her story, Du Yu joined Weaver Girl and Jin Jianglang to inspect the Golden Flood Dragon Scissors, which were given to Jin Jianglang.
Weaver Girl taught Jin Jianglang the Object-Controlling Art so he could wield the Golden Flood Dragon Scissors, while Dong Qianqiu briefed the Legend Management Bureau on the War God Xingtian legend. Yingning proposed that resentment had transformed Xingtian into a ghost, allowing him to fight after losing his head.
Du Yu and his companions planned a Descent into the Legend of War God Xingtian to sever Houtu’s romantic bond with Xingtian while minimizing changes to the story. As the mission began, Du Yu discovered Shiranui Asuka had joined the group, adding one more inexperienced companion for him to look after.
Du Yu and his companions arrived in the Elder Era near the Flame Emperor’s tribe, where they encountered the young Houtu. After Du Yu persuaded Houtu to accept them into her tribe, he hugged her as their welcoming ceremony.
Du Yu and the Seven Outstanding Disciples of the Sage joined the Jiang Tribe, where they met the Flame Emperor, Houtu, and Xingtian. Du Yu learned that Houtu did not know Xingtian by name, and the chapter ended with Xingtian revealing he already knew Houtu was a girl.
Du Yu learned more about Xingtian’s feelings for Houtu, but Xingtian mistook Xie Yujiao for his enemy You Si and threatened her before realizing his error. As Du Yu’s group split up to investigate Xingtian and Houtu, Du Yu found Houtu arm-wrestling Ju Wu and watched her win.
After Ju Wu taunted Houtu over being a woman and losing their arm-wrestling match, Du Yu challenged his assumptions about women’s roles and encouraged Houtu to choose her own life. He left her trying, with great difficulty, to speak and behave more femininely as part of his plan to disrupt her future bond with Xingtian.
Du Yu investigated a mysterious attack on the Jiang Tribe and discovered that Zhurong was staging harmless fireball strikes with the Flame Emperor and Xingtian’s approval. The three were creating a reason for Xingtian to leave the tribe and seek revenge for his brother Chiyou, but the Flame Emperor said no one would help him.
Du Yu learned that the Flame Emperor and Zhurong had staged attacks to give Xingtian a reason to leave the Jiang Tribe and challenge the Yellow Emperor. After discovering Houtu’s distress over Xingtian’s departure, Du Yu returned to the village with a possible plan, where Houtu confronted him for leaving without a word.
Du Yu devised a plan to ease Houtu’s obsession by having Xingtian give her a proper farewell, while he and Xie Yujiao wondered whether she had a past life in the Elder Era. The chapter ended with Liu Ling in a drinking contest with Yi Di, one of the legendary inventors of alcohol.
Liu Ling and Yi Di argued over which of them knew Du Kang better, then each recounted a different legend about how Du Kang invented wine. Du Yu praised Liu Ling’s tale more highly, leaving the dispute unresolved.
Du Yu used Xie Yujiao to uncover Yi Di’s connection to You Si, but the real You Si appeared in the woods and killed Yi Di. The chapter ended with You Si confronting Xie Yujiao, who looked exactly like her.
Du Yu and Xie Yujiao encountered You Si and another version of Xie Yujiao, leading Du Yu to realize that Xie Yujiao was one of many reincarnations who had forgotten a task passed down across generations. After returning to the village and falling asleep, Du Yu dreamed of an ancient passageway ending at a vine-covered door.
After waking from an unnaturally long dream, Du Yu assigned the others their duties ahead of an expected attack on the Jiang Tribe. When Ju Wu tried to abduct Shiranui Asuka and provoke him, Du Yu crushed Ju Wu’s wrist and decided he had no reason to hold back.
Du Yu killed Ju Wu and his lackeys during a fireball attack on the Jiang Tribe, then helped turn the attack into a rallying point for the tribespeople. As Xingtian prepared to leave for the Yellow Emperor’s camp, Du Yu arranged for him to say goodbye to Houtu in person.
Du Yu persuaded Xingtian to bid Houtu farewell without promising to marry her, then followed him to the Yellow Emperor Tribe. Xingtian challenged the Yellow Emperor and defeated the tribe’s first defenders before confronting Cangjie.
Cangjie named the nameless giant Xingtian as he advanced into the Yellow Emperor's camp, where Li Mu challenged him. Xingtian defeated Li Mu's crossbow and flame attacks, then fought him bare-handed and sent him flying with a powerful punch.
Xingtian fought the Yellow Emperor’s Four Generals while the Yellow Emperor learned that Nameless One had come to challenge his tribe and sent Du Kang to question him. As the generals unleashed their strongest spells, Xingtian began casting an earth spell of his own.
Xingtian fought past the Four Generals and met Du Kang, who let him continue after hearing his reasons for seeking revenge. Xingtian entered the Yellow Emperor’s hall to face him in a duel, leaving Du Yu wondering how the Yellow Emperor would later be said to have used a stratagem to decapitate Xingtian.
