Cowherd searched the chaotic battlefield for Weaver Girl while the Immortals fought among themselves. A Can told him Weaver Girl had fallen, and Cowherd asked who had killed her, unaware that the killer was standing there.
Cowherd sought to kill Xie Yujiao for Weaver Girl’s death, even after learning she was Du Yu’s woman, and advanced to True Immortal before confronting her. Shuten Doji arrived with his allies but refused to help Xie Yujiao, leaving her facing Cowherd alone.
Cowherd confronted Xie Yujiao over Weaver Girl’s death, and the others learned that You Si had killed her. Xiao Qi relayed Sage’s order to let Xie Yujiao die, warning that she had become You Si and was aligned with Time.
Shiranui Asuka chose to leave Xie Yujiao behind rather than let the conflict between Shuten Doji and Cowherd escalate into a battle. She went with Shuten to join Brother Fire God in attacking the Great Buddha, while Cowherd stayed with Xie Yujiao and sent the Inner Yellow Springs forces to help the monsters.
Cowherd attacked Xie Yujiao, believing she had killed Weaver Girl, until Meng Po intervened and saved her. Cowherd spared Xie Yujiao at Meng Po’s request, but severed his ties with Meng Po and gave up his position as West Street’s boss.
Xie Yujiao met Meng Po, who offered her a choice between tea that would preserve her current life and tea that would restore her memories as You Si. As Sage watched, uncertain how her decision would affect the battle and Du Yu’s fate, Xie Yujiao held both bottles without choosing.
Xie Yujiao agreed to drink the red tea and seek her memories as You Si, while Sage gambled that her return could turn the battle against Great Dark Heaven. Xiao Qi mourned that she might not live to see the companions reunite, then accompanied Dong Qianqiu onto the battlefield to search for Du Yu.
Du Yu reunited with Medusa before the Great Buddha and refused to take responsibility for the other Immortals fighting the River-Crossing Arhat. He and Medusa set out to find allies for a plan against the Great Buddha, while the Northern Emperor challenged Du Yu about his intention to confront it.
Du Yu joined the Heavenly Venerables and warned them that the Great Buddha’s chanting had already turned many Chinese immortals against them. As they struggled to damage the Buddha, a host of unexpected allies arrived, leaving the battle poised for a larger assault.
Amid the battle against the enormous black Buddha, Shiranui Tsukimi Sake and Shiranui Fire God tried to arrange a match between Du Yu and Shiranui Asuka. Asuka confessed her feelings by giving Du Yu a letter, but Du Yu insisted that defeating the Great Buddha had to come first.
Du Yu rallied the gathered forces to attack the motionless Great Buddha after the Inner Yellow Springs, Shuten Doji’s monsters, Medusa’s cultivators, and the Time Masters arrived. The mass assault left the Great Buddha apparently unharmed as Du Yu watched for an opening.
Du Yu and the others concentrated their attacks on a cross he marked on Great Dark Heaven, but the black Buddha remained unharmed. Suspecting it was focusing on defense, Du Yu flew toward its face to provoke it into attacking.
Du Yu tried to provoke Great Dark Heaven into exposing an opening, but Great Dark Heaven saw through his plan and used Dong Qianqiu and Xiao Qi to break his resolve. After Xiao Qi was killed, Du Yu’s connection to the Sage was severed.
Du Yu confronted “Great Dark Heaven” and deduced that the Buddha feared his abilities, then unleashed all seven powers against him. Meanwhile, “Sage” awoke to find everyone gone and realized they had vanished in the past as the calamity approached.
Sage entered the Descent Device to reach Du Yu, while Du Yu entered a Portal into Great Dark Heaven’s body to find his true form. As Great Dark Heaven killed Du Yu’s companions to force him to stop, Du Yu reached the figure inside the Buddha, and both he and Great Dark Heaven froze when Xie Yujiao was dragged over.
Xie Yujiao completed a transformation into You Si while Great Dark Heaven revealed that Subhuti had encouraged his invasion of the Immortal Realm. As You Si urged Great Dark Heaven to withdraw his troops, Du Yu struck the young monk and sent the giant Buddha crashing into the Underworld, where You Si recognized him inside.
Du Yu prepared to kill Great Dark Heaven, but You Si and Sage warned that killing him would trigger explosions powerful enough to destroy the world. Du Yu remained determined to finish Great Dark Heaven, while Sage used his power to stop him.
Du Yu defeated Great Dark Heaven by trapping Sage in the Eight Directions Ghost Record and striking the Buddha, but the resulting explosion devastated the Underworld. He Suoyi took Great Dark Heaven’s Extreme Darkness Bodhi Heart and summoned a larger red Buddha bearing the words “Cause and Effect,” leaving Du Yu facing a worse threat.
He Suoyi began a world-ending self-destruction, and Du Yu and Sage devised a plan to send him into the lifeless future using Xingtian's portals. The plan faltered when He Suoyi grabbed Du Yu and halted the portals, threatening to take Du Yu and the other Supreme Pivots away with him.
Du Yu released the souls in the Eight Directions Ghost Record and entered He Suoyi as their Portals merged, but He Suoyi’s explosion shattered spacetime and mixed past, present, and future. Du Yu pursued the mortally wounded He Suoyi through scenes from different eras, determined to kill him.
Du Yu pursued the wounded He Suoyi through spatial rifts and fell with him into a dark sea, then emerged in a flooded courtyard where eight immortals crossed the waters. Du Yu followed He Suoyi into a mud-brick house and urged three terrified men to catch him as He Suoyi ran toward a bedroom.
Du Yu pursued He Suoyi through a spacetime rift into a peaceful, isolated valley, where he realized the place matched the legendary Peach Blossom Spring. He and the farmer who followed him remained trapped there, with He Suoyi still missing.
Du Yu realized that the old farmer could be the fisherman from the Peach Blossom Spring legend and tried to guide events toward the legend’s ending. After learning the farmer’s surname was Du, he vowed to protect him as villagers returned with others.
Du Yu and Old Man Du were welcomed by the villagers, then learned they were trapped in the village and could leave only by following a Rabbit Path. The villager led them toward it as Du Yu remained uncertain whether the wounded Water Monkey was alive or whether either man could return home.
Du Yu and the old man used fire and cold water to crack open the mountain and escape through the Rabbit Path. They found another peach blossom grove beyond the opening, then sealed it and marked their route because Du Yu planned to return and make sure Water Monkey died.
