Jiang You smiled at that.
"Excellent. Now we Winged People finally have somewhere to stay in the goblin capital."
He looked at the tall, highly symbolic building. Its shape, like a pair of outstretched wings, convinced him that the goblins had put some thought into it.
Wasn't this just an embassy?
In fact, along this street...
There was more than the wing-shaped building designed for the Winged People. There was a hammer-shaped building for the dwarves, a tusk-shaped building for the trolls, a forest-shaped building for the fairies, and others for the centaurs, merfolk, gnomes, and more.
Apparently, this street had been built specifically for the races that had helped the king rise to power.
Before opening the door to the Winged People's building, the goblin official asked,
"Your Highness, this building has yet to be named. You may name it yourself, and we'll have craftsmen put up the nameplate afterward!"
"In that case, call it the Winged People Embassy!"
Jiang You answered without hesitation.
The goblin official sounded surprised.
"The name you suggested is the same one those Human Race members from the Sanctuary mentioned. It seems the rumors are true: Your Highness really is close to the Human Race!"
"In certain respects, they and I do have a great deal in common!"
Jiang You laughed heartily.
He was not worried that his closeness to the Human Race would make the goblins wary of him.
In truth, almost all the truly powerful technology and equipment of the Human Race were in the hands of the Goblin King, Amigel.
And the Human Race did not live very long. Even if they practiced the Sequence Path, under the goblins' restrictions, their descendants would become just another ordinary race of Ferland in a few centuries.
They posed no threat at all!
For the sake of his future Goblin Empire's everlasting dynasty, Amigel had used every means available, even if he had stopped short of going to extremes!
Still, one thing had always puzzled Jiang You.
Had the once-glorious Human Race civilization of the Previous Era, with its highly developed transcendent sequence system, truly produced no supreme powerhouses at the very top of the sequences?
In the game's lore, those who reached Sequence 1 at the pinnacle of each pathway were also called gods!
In front of the Winged People Embassy, the goblin official's remark interrupted Jiang You's thoughts.
"The Human Race truly is an extraordinary race."
Then he continued solemnly.
"Your Highness, your nameplate will arrive tomorrow. We will also take full responsibility for your meals during your stay. In addition, our king's coronation will take place in one month. Please be sure to attend on time."
Jiang You replied earnestly.
"I'll certainly remember!"
The goblin official politely took his leave.
The goblins of this era wore clean, tidy clothes and carried themselves with dignity and composure, along with the pride of belonging to the continent's strongest race.
Such was the mightiest race in Ferland today!
Who knew how they would end up in such a sorry state in the future?
Once the goblin official had gone, Jiang You led his people into the tall, wing-shaped embassy.
The embassy was spacious enough to accommodate a thousand Winged People, with room to spare.
These buildings had been rebuilt from palaces once inhabited by Titans, after all. There was certainly plenty of space.
Several hours later.
The sun was about to set, and twilight bathed the world.
Jiang You took a few guards and Little Turtle for a stroll through the new goblin city.
The houses stood in orderly rows, and the streets were broad and open.
They seemed to form several rings around Mount Proadas at the center.
The entire city could accommodate a million people!
Amigel's ambition had been abundantly clear from the moment the city was built.
Finally, Jiang You climbed the towering city wall and gazed down over New Radiance City!
The newly completed goblin capital looked splendid.
A vibrant civilization was rising!
In the days that followed...
Apart from occasionally going out for a stroll, Jiang You spent all his time cultivating!
During that period, the Goblin King Amigel received him once in the newly built royal palace.
Amigel was genuinely astonished to discover that Jiang You had become a Legendary, and he seemed even warmer toward him.
In this era, however, strength decided everything.
In present-day Ferland, Jiang You's Winged People were the strongest aerial army. Amigel could hardly afford to overlook them.
But after Jiang You left the royal palace...
The goblin Great Sage approached Amigel's throne and said with a frown,
"Now that the Winged People's chief has become a Legendary, he will no longer be as easy to control."
A hundred thousand Winged People meant an aerial legion of a hundred thousand combatants.
Even Legendaries and Demigods would find them troublesome.
It was not that they feared them, but that dealing with them would be difficult.
Until one became a god, divine power and transcendent power were two different things!
Amigel had a strong desire for control. Although the trolls were powerful, Ferland had numerous troll clans of different kinds, so he never worried about them.
But the united Winged People, led by a Legendary, were a problem. Even if he provoked internal strife, their Legendary leader could immediately suppress it!
"Your Majesty, perhaps we could establish an aerial legion of our own!"
"Our own? Using those Eaglemen?"
Amigel asked in confusion.
"Not them. I've inspected those Eaglemen. They've lost all their fighting spirit. They're finished."
"What I mean is that we should rely on ourselves. We goblins have all sorts of knight professions. Why not choose a flying magical beast as the mount for an aerial legion?"
The Great Sage smiled.
"Oh, an excellent idea. Then, Great Sage, do you have any suggestions? What flying magical beast could serve as the mount for our flying knights?"
Amigel asked, his interest piqued.
"Griffins! Didn't we capture a great many griffins during our war against the Titans and keep them penned up?"
The Great Sage smiled, leaning on his wooden staff.
"Good! Good! Good! Brilliant!"
Amigel said "good" three times in a row, clearly delighted!
"Having you, Great Sage, is like a fish finding water, or a saber-toothed tiger growing wings! We'll do exactly as you suggest!"
He laughed heartily.
"Still, for now, we must continue to show the Winged People sufficient regard. Who knows where the Primordial Dragons are lurking? Aerial troops remain indispensable!"
"Then, since the Winged People King has become a Legendary, why not appoint him Guardian of the Empire's Eastern Territories?"
The Great Sage suggested.
"Agreed!"
Amigel nodded.
The goblins had not even set foot in that region yet. It was merely an empty title, so he might as well grant it. Once the goblins multiplied and expanded, he could find an excuse to take it back.
Having finished discussing the matter with the goblin Great Sage, he was ready to go to his harem and enjoy the company of his newly acquired goblin beauty.
Just as he thought the goblin Great Sage was about to leave, however, he saw him remain where he stood and offer another piece of advice.
"There is one more matter, Your Majesty!"
"What is it?"
Amigel showed no impatience.
"Those Human Race members from the Sanctuary have been making quite a few moves behind the scenes and maintaining contact with all the other races. I believe it's time we made our position clear!"
At that, Amigel frowned.
Their conquest of the Ferland Continent had been possible not only because of the strength the goblins had accumulated over countless years, but also, to a tremendous extent, because of the Human Race members who had emerged from the Sanctuary.
Without the Human Race, they would have struggled to defeat the Titan Giants!
"We must put the Human Race in its place and let all the races of the continent see our attitude toward them!"
The goblin Great Sage said.
"How?"
"Isn't there a woman among the Human Race named Fiona? Supposedly, in their era, that girl was specifically trained to administer the Sanctuary. She is their nominal leader."
"I believe you could take her as a consort, Your Majesty! Make your stance known to the world!"
"Take that Human Race woman as a consort?"
Amigel was somewhat reluctant.
In his eyes, only goblin beauties were beautiful. However attractive those Human Race women might appear, to him they were nothing more than oversized monkeys!
He liked the rich green skin of goblin beauties!
"Your Majesty, you will be the emperor of the Goblin Empire. You must make sacrifices! Besides, marrying her is merely a statement. Once you bring her back, you needn't touch her. Just leave her in the palace like an ornament!"
"This will both put those outwardly submissive but inwardly proud Human Race members in their place and leave them truly divided. At the same time, it will warn every race on the continent. With so much to gain, why wouldn't we do it?"
"Very well!"
Amigel said helplessly.
"Good. I'll see to it shortly!"
"Er, there is no need to be quite so hasty!"
"Your coronation is next month. The empress and all the consorts must appear then. It is urgent!"
"..."
And so...
Half a month later, Jiang You, who was staying at the Winged People Embassy, suddenly heard a shocking piece of news.
"What? That blonde Human Race girl named Fiona married the Goblin Emperor as his consort?"
The Winged People were all astonished.
"Is that really true?!"
"But... with such a huge difference between their races, could it really be love?"
Wang Xiaoba, the little turtle king, also cried out in surprise!
Before you continue
