Psychic ability users often had sharper instincts than other people.
Powerful psychic ability users could even sense danger a little ahead of time.
It was like how animals could sense rain or earthquakes coming and react in advance.
This cat said it could sense Little Fish Dried Fish on Chen Luo.
Yes, he certainly had some-and a hell of a lot of it.
He had not only raw fish, but plenty of prepared fish dishes too.
As for snacks, he had roasted fish slices and dried fish by the ton.
Chen Luo chuckled and was about to take out some dried fish. Once you eat my food, you're my cat.
I'll take you home and pet you to my heart's content.
Petting cats helped people relieve stress, relax, and feel happy.
Just then, the curtains in a second-floor room were pulled aside and the window opened. An anxious voice called out.
"Let go of my Rice!"
Chen Luo looked up and discovered, to his surprise, that it was Mi Li.
This cat's called Rice?
It's her cat?
Seeing two "fierce-looking" men holding sticks, with one of them clutching her cat, Mi Li became terribly anxious.
Mi Li disappeared from the window. Just over ten seconds later, she opened the door, having run down from the second floor.
Looking uneasy, Mi Li watched Chen Luo and Su Dazhu warily, but still mustered the courage to pull Rice out of Chen Luo's hands.
Chen Luo let go without resisting. Forcibly keeping Rice would only make Mi Li hostile toward him.
With Rice back in her arms, Mi Li breathed a sigh of relief. Not daring to linger outside, she softly apologized and turned to leave.
Meeting Mi Li ahead of time had not been part of Chen Luo's original plan. He had only come to see whether Mi Li and Mi Ling were home.
Rice suddenly began struggling fiercely in Mi Li's arms and spoke to her through its telepathic ability.
"Let go of me! He has Little Fish Dried Fish. I want Little Fish Dried Fish!"
"He has Little Fish Dried Fish, so he isn't a bad person."
Mi Li's cheek twitched slightly. What kind of logic is that?
But Rice broke free, leaped from her arms to the ground, and looked pitifully up at Chen Luo.
"Rice hasn't had Little Fish Dried Fish for over a week. Please give me one."
Chen Luo's thoughts raced.
Clearly, Mi Li was the only one home. If Mi Ling had been there, she would never have let Mi Li come downstairs alone and risk danger.
The sisters were not together.
Then isn't this an opportunity to start by winning over the younger sister?
Of course, he could not simply offer her supplies right away. Even Su Dazhu knew that anyone showering you with unsolicited favors was up to no good.
Chen Luo had intended to approach them through cooperation from the start. Mi Ling and Mi Li were not just pretty faces.
With his formidable strength, thorough understanding of the dangers, and trump card of enormous stockpiles, Chen Luo was fully confident he could keep them firmly by his side-and willingly, at that.
In his previous life, he had never seen this cat, Rice, or even heard that Mi Li and Mi Ling had a cat. Clearly, Rice had died along the way.
This cat's instincts were incredibly accurate. It could actually sense that he had Little Fish Dried Fish.
At that thought, Chen Luo smiled at Rice. "That big supermarket outside must have Little Fish Dried Fish. Come on, I'll take you there."
Then Chen Luo said to Mi Li, "How about we work together and look for supplies?"
Mi Li instinctively wanted to refuse. There was no way she could go out with two strangers she did not know.
But Rice did not care about any of that and immediately nodded in agreement. Seeing Mi Li hesitate, it tried to persuade her.
"I can sense that this person means no harm. We can trust him."
Mi Li was still hesitating, and Rice grew impatient. "Then don't go. I'll go with him. You can stay home and wait for me to bring you food, like always."
That one cut deep.
Rice's words made Mi Li's cheeks burn. For over a week, she had relied on Rice, whose small, agile body allowed it to go out and gather supplies.
If not for Dharma King, no one could have easily caught such an agile, intelligent cat.
Now the supermarkets outside were empty. Rice would have to travel farther away to have any chance of finding supplies, but that would be too dangerous.
Thinking of Rice's assurance that these two meant no harm, Mi Li chose to trust it. Rice's instincts were extremely accurate, especially since it had awakened its mind ability.
They really did have hardly any food left at home.
Mi Li steeled herself. "All right. I'll go with you."
Rice, I'm betting everything on you.
Chen Luo smiled. This was a good start.
Mi Li said, "Wait here for a moment. I'll go upstairs and get a few things."
Soon, Mi Li came back down wearing a red helmet, probably meant for an electric scooter, and a thick leather jacket that concealed her youthful, attractive figure.
She held a rolling pin.
Mi Li timidly said to Chen Luo, "You probably already know Rice can communicate with people. I suddenly gained a special ability too. It's like being a priest in a game."
Chen Luo chuckled and introduced himself without hiding anything. "My name is Chen Luo. My ability makes me something like a spatial mage."
"He's Su Dazhu. He's like a warrior."
"This dog is my companion. His name is Dharma King, and he's a lightning mage. You can call him Thunder Dharma King."
Hearing Chen Luo call him that, Dharma King immediately straightened up proudly. I'm no combat weakling like Rice.
Mi Li stared at Dharma King, dumbfounded. So Rice was not the only one who had gained a special ability. A dog could actually unleash lightning?
Without coming outside, she would never have known how much the world had changed.
Rice urged them on. "Hurry up and find Little Fish Dried Fish."
They had barely taken two steps when they ran into several zombies.
Chen Luo and Su Dazhu were completely unruffled, but Mi Li's body went rigid with tension.
Her voice trembled slightly. "I'll boost Su-Dazhu's strength."
Mi Li knew perfectly well that a warrior needed to hold the front line, so she boosted Su Dazhu first.
It was completely unnecessary, but Chen Luo wanted to see it.
A pale golden glow appeared in Mi Li's hands and quickly entered Su Dazhu's body.
Judging by her practiced movements, she must have been training.
Mi Li then gave Chen Luo a boost as well.
Chen Luo closed his eyes to assess it. His strength had increased by about a third. If his original strength had been thirty points, then she had added ten.
Of course, it could not be a percentage-based boost.
Ten points of strength was equivalent to the strength of an adult man.
Besides, Mi Li was certainly only level one right now. As her level rose, the boost she provided would grow too.
And she could boost more than just one target.
With Mi Li's boost, Su Dazhu killed the zombies as easily as chopping vegetables.
Mi Li did not look delighted. Instead, her face turned pale. The zombies' heads burst open, spilling red and white matter. The sight was far too bloody for her.
A lone zombie ran toward them.
To their surprise, Mi Li said shakily, "I've never fought a zombie before. This one will be good practice. I'll have to take this step sooner or later."
