History

Discovery

Wu Shaozhen discovered the Boar King behind bushes while returning through the Boar Forest. After inspecting it with Insight, he recognized that his poison’s healing suppression could counter its Recovery skill. He postponed the fight until he could outrun the boss and survive at least one attack 6.

The planned challenge influenced his equipment choices while grinding ordinary wild boars. He equipped a Boarhide Helmet rather than selling it, prioritizing his own strength so he could defeat the boss sooner. At that point, his movement speed was 28, still below the Boar King’s 30 8.

Other players subsequently discovered the boss and posted its statistics on the forums. This prompted Wu Shaozhen to accelerate his preparations, although he still needed better equipment and more health 12.

Battle with Dustseal

Wu Shaozhen challenged the Boar King at level 6, with 400 HP, 35 movement speed, and poison dealing 23 true damage per second. He dodged its charges, struck during the pause afterward, and retreated before it could retaliate 13.

The Boar King activated Frenzy six times. On one occasion, Wu Shaozhen accepted a hit to refresh his nearly expired poison, losing 355 HP but escaping before a second attack. When the boss reached its final recovery threshold, the poison prevented it from healing, leaving it stationary for ten seconds without restoring any HP 13.

The battle ended after 36 minutes. Dustseal’s victory became the Huaxia Server’s first Black Iron boss kill and triggered a server-wide announcement 14.

The victory also attracted extensive forum speculation. A pinned post analyzed the boss’s statistics and concluded that defeating it should have been impossible at that stage, while players sought Dustseal’s strategy. Wu Shaozhen did not provide an explanation 16 18.

Raids in Other Novice Villages

The published statistics of the Tusk Greatblade encouraged factions in other Novice Villages to challenge their own Boar Kings. Many teams reduced the boss to its recovery threshold but could not overcome its repeated healing. Jun Lin correctly inferred that Dustseal’s talent must counter the healing rather than simply provide overwhelming direct damage 18.

The boss’s 120 defense prevented most early players from dealing substantial damage. Teams repeatedly sacrificed members to reduce its HP to 10%, only for Recovery to restore it to 30%; by the time they wore it down again, the skill’s five-minute cooldown had elapsed 18.

World-Proud Under Heaven eventually led more than a hundred coordinated, fully equipped World-Proud Heroes players to victory in Novice Village 97. Their celebration was interrupted by the announcement of Dustseal’s first Bronze boss kill. By the time Wu Shaozhen advanced his class, videos showed several guilds successfully defeating the Boar King 20 23.

  • Size: At least twice as large as an ordinary wild boar 6.
  • Boss aura: A glowing golden ring beneath its feet identifies it as a boss 6.
  • Frenzy posture: Rears upright to a height exceeding three meters and pounds its chest twice with its front legs 13.

Abilities & Skills

Base Statistics

Statistic Value
HP 50,000 6
Physical attack 250 6
Physical defense 120 6
Movement speed 30 6

Savage Charge / Brutal Charge

A high-speed, straight-line charge, listed as Savage Charge during the initial inspection and called Brutal Charge during the battle 6 13.

  • Deals 150% physical damage to targets in its path and stuns them for 1 second 6.
  • Has a 10-second cooldown 6.
  • Signals the attack with a roar, unlike ordinary wild boars, which scrape their front hooves twice 13.
  • Pauses for approximately 1 second afterward, giving Wu Shaozhen an opening to strike and reapply poison 13.

Berserk / Frenzy

Listed as Berserk in its inspected skill set and called Frenzy during combat, this ability temporarily strengthens its attacks 6 13.

  • Increases attack and attack speed by 50% for 30 seconds 6.
  • Has a 2-minute cooldown 6.
  • Does not increase movement speed, allowing a faster opponent to keep retreating throughout its duration 13.

Recovery

A low-health defensive skill that repeatedly thwarted early player raids 18.

  • Its inspected description gives a trigger of below 10% HP 6.
  • Doubles defense and restores HP to 30% over 10 seconds 6.
  • Prevents the Boar King from moving or attacking during recovery 6.
  • Has a 5-minute cooldown 6.
  • Wu Shaozhen’s poison completely suppresses the healing but does not remove the immobilized recovery period 13.

Natural Regeneration

  • Can recover 500 HP per second, equivalent to 1% of its maximum HP, once out of combat 13.
  • During Wu Shaozhen’s fight, regeneration would begin ten seconds after his poison expired; maintaining poison prevented this additional source of healing 13.

Loot & Rewards

Documented Drops

Wu Shaozhen’s kill produced 1 gold coin and 34 silver coins, three Black Iron equipment pieces, four plain equipment pieces, a skill book, and a summoning scroll 14.

  • Tusk Greatblade — Black Iron: Physical attack +30; Strength +10; required level 6. Wu Shaozhen saved it for sale rather than using it and later auctioned it 14 16.
  • Boar King Armor — Black Iron: HP +100; Defense +10; Constitution +8; required level 6 14.
  • Boar King Legguards — Black Iron: HP +100; Defense +10; Bone Root +6; required level 6 14.
  • Plain equipment: Boarhide Helmet, Wild Boar Leather Armor, Boar Leather Pants, and Boarhide Belt—the same equipment types dropped by ordinary wild boars 14.
  • Skill book: Included in the haul; its name and effect are not given in the supplied passage 14.
  • Boar King Summoning Scroll: Summons the Boar King to fight for the user for 30 minutes and disappears after use 14.

The Boar King equipment worn by Wu Shaozhen looked much like ordinary wild boar equipment, allowing him to leave it equipped without making its quality immediately obvious 16.

Kill Rewards

Reward source Rewards received by Dustseal
Boss defeat 5,000 EXP and 100 reputation 14
Huaxia Server’s first Black Iron boss kill 200 reputation, 10 gold coins, and 10 free attribute points 14
Poison talent trigger Maximum poison stacks increased by 1, reaching 2 14

Subsequent Use and Sales

  • Boar King Legguards: Replaced after the Silver Wolf King battle and sold to Su Muxue, who offered 100,000 yuan for them as part of a larger equipment trade 21.
  • Summoning scroll: Remained unused by Wu Shaozhen until he sold it to Su Muxue for 50,000 yuan. She intended to use the summoned boss as a frontline tank during her realm-advancement challenge. After completing the trade, she returned to the city and headed toward the War God Hall; the passage does not show the summon being used 32.
  • Boar King Armor: Remained equipped through Wu Shaozhen’s Bronze advancement. He later replaced it with Black Wind Leather Armor and sold it for 20,000 yuan 31 40.
  • Declining equipment value: By the time he sold the armor, Wu Shaozhen considered its low-level stats barely better than common equipment and expected Black Iron equipment prices to fall as more players acquired gear. The armor and his replaced Wolf King Helmet both sold within two minutes of being listed 40.
