Background / History

Royal origins and exile

Zi You’s father was the previous Demon Lord. While he was badly wounded defending against foreign enemies, Zi Ling stabbed him through the heart with the Demon’s Fang and seized his position. Zi Ling concealed the murder by claiming that the former ruler had died in battle. Zi You knew the truth because her father had transmitted images of the campaign to her through an Image Transmission Stone 490.

Recognizing Zi Ling’s concealed killing intent toward her, she fled to the Holy Light Continent after reaching God-tier. There, the hostility between humans and demons led two God-tier experts to hunt and grievously injure her. These attackers were later identified as the Thunder War God and Radiance War God 206 395 490.

With the passages to the Demon Realm sealed, Zi You could not return home. Leaving her protective barrier risked discovery, so she spent centuries in hiding, using health spring water to keep herself alive without curing her injuries 113 206.

Meeting Wu Shaozhen

Wu Shaozhen encountered Zi You after a Random Scroll transported him into her secluded valley. Initially threatening to kill him, she changed her approach upon learning that he was an adventurer who could respawn. She tasked him with obtaining the Netherworld Spirit Fruit from Old Sun in Jinling City, offering health spring water as payment and threatening daily deaths through a Demon Mark if he failed to deliver it within five days 72.

Zi You later killed four Immortal-tier powerhouses, removing the threat that Wu Shaozhen’s dealings with her would be exposed. The battle aggravated her existing injuries to a fatal degree, but she had sensed his Netherworld Pearl and recognized it as a means to survive and recover 113 353.

Unable to seize the owner-bound pearl, she proposed an Equality Contract that would allow her to stay in his Pet Space. She used the Heaven and Earth Ring as an inducement; their contracted partnership was established by the time she began overseeing his training 113 114 116.

Instructor and protector

Zi You objected to Wu Shaozhen relying on his durability instead of fighting like an assassin. She made him dodge three Iron-Armed Apes without retaliating, then demonstrated how superior movement could evade their attacks even at a slower speed. His close-range technique subsequently improved enough to avoid nearly all of the Ice-Fire Twin-Headed Flood Dragon’s attacks, though she still considered him below her standards 116 248.

Her protection extended into the real world. She placed a Traversal Inscription on Silver Big Bad Wolf and fortified Wu Shaozhen’s villa with a barrier that injured intruders attempting to enter. She also explained that the apparent game was a parallel world with modified rules and that increasing in-game rank allowed strength to feed back into a player’s physical body 131 205.

When Mo Lan arrived in reality, he recognized her as the missing princess and urged her to open a passage for the Demon Race. His accusation that she had betrayed her race exposed the conflict between her origins and her decision to remain with Wu Shaozhen. She warned against killing him because the Demon Lord could trace his death, then sealed the room where he was confined 318.

Netherworld conflict and recovery

Zi You intervened against Ye Xiao by closing a Netherworld gate and containing him within a black dome. Still too injured to win alone, she advised Wu Shaozhen to release Soaring Serpent from his contract so that the serpent could regain Saint-tier strength and assist her. She insisted that Ye Xiao had to die: his connections to the Demon Race could expose her whereabouts to Zi Ling 351 354.

Later, on the Netherworld Continent, she drew a pursuing Netherworld powerhouse away from Wu Shaozhen. The newly ascended God-tier Soaring Serpent rescued her when she was close to death and carried her away to recover 385 386.

Zi You returned at full strength when Wu Shaozhen and Old Teng were trapped by three Netherworld rulers. She shattered their isolated spaces, defeated all three opponents, and killed the Netherworld Lord and Netherworld King inside her Darkness Domain. The Dark King escaped, leaving her concerned that he would contact Zi Ling 395 396.

Zi Ling’s defeat and her father’s revenge

During the Blood Demon invasion, Zi You took on the five strongest of nine arriving God-tier Blood Ancestors. Even after being drawn into an enemy blood domain, she remained visibly uninjured while her opponents accumulated wounds 472 478.

Her intervention exposed her to Zi Ling, who arrived with the Demon Race and demanded her return. When he threatened humanity and Wu Shaozhen, she offered to return and help open the Demon Cave in exchange for their safety. Wu Shaozhen refused to let her sacrifice herself 480.

In the ensuing battle, Zi You diverted her Demon Spheres to protect Wu Shaozhen while fighting five Demon Gods herself. The strain left her badly wounded until Wu Ziyin’s amplified healing restored her condition 484 485.

After Bing Yu froze the exhausted Zi Ling, Zi You unleashed all thirty-two of her Demon Spheres to destroy him. Her revenge ended the hatred she had carried for centuries, but also left her uncertain about what came next 490.

Becoming Demon Lord

Zi You returned to the Demon Realm to stop the succession struggle following Zi Ling’s death. She subdued the powerhouses who refused to submit, stabilized the realm, and became the new Demon Lord through both her royal standing and overwhelming strength 497 500.

She then reopened the Demon Cave and entered with five selected demons. Motivated partly by Bing Yu’s greater strength, she gambled on absorbing enough demonic energy to reach Transcendent God-tier. Her successful tribulation secured her rule, although the rushed breakthrough left her energy unstable 501 508 509.

War against the Otherworldly Demons

As a Transcendent God-tier ally, Zi You repeatedly protected Wu Shaozhen and fought the Otherworldly Demons. She forced God-tier enemies out of the void at Taotie City, cooperated with Bing Yu against Hǔ Bēn, and later escaped two Transcendent God-tier pursuers through a mutually destructive attack 517 527 531.

Her role increasingly included coordinating with Wu Shaozhen rather than simply shielding him. Against Mo Yuan, she proposed bringing him into the Supreme-powerhouse battlefield because his poison and finishing skills could end the fight before the Black Tortoise Ancestor collapsed 575 576.

When humans agreed to provide the Demon Race with southern main cities, Wu Shaozhen asked Zi You to bring her people to settle on the Holy Light Continent 604.

During the confrontation with the Source Ancestor, Zi You and Bing Yu took command of their companions’ evacuation. Their domains helped prevent four poisoned Divine Venerables from escaping, and Zi You led the survivors to the Grand Hall passage and out of the Demon Source Continent 627.

Appearance

Zi You is consistently depicted as an exceptionally beautiful, black-clad woman with a flawless figure and an innately alluring presence 72 206 351.

Personality

Zi You is proud, aloof, and openly contemptuous of opponents she considers beneath her. Even when injuries leave her attributes far below an enemy’s, she fights with the confidence of a God-tier expert. Her competitiveness also drives her to pursue a risky breakthrough rather than accept being weaker than Bing Yu 268 353 501.

She is pragmatic and ruthless about survival. She coerces Wu Shaozhen during their first meeting, advocates controlling or destroying a potentially dangerous revived powerhouse, and uses extreme methods to make Wu Ziyin confront bloodshed. She explicitly rejects the idea that belonging to the Demon Race makes someone evil 72 206 278 490.

Her attachment to Wu Shaozhen reveals a more vulnerable side. She worries about him during her recovery, accepts his embrace with tearful relief, and repeatedly risks herself to protect him. Although initially embarrassed by their intimacy, she privately recognizes that her own feelings helped make Bing Yu’s deception effective 395 480 518.

Zi You created her own system of techniques and incorporated them into her Demon Spheres, also called Black Spheres. They serve as both her principal weapons and her strongest defense 484.
