Yamabuki Chidori helped Yamamoto establish and staff the Gotei 13, negotiate its independence, and train its recruits while confronting new fighters across Soul Society. The arc left Unohana Yachiru identified and Chidori waiting to receive his first salary.

• Yamabuki Chidori joined Yamamoto, recruited Shunshun Shidō and Saitō Fubōfu, and defeated a Menos Grande with the help of his Blade Spirit.
• Yamabuki Chidori helped Yamamoto build support for the Gotei 13, and the group forced Central 46 to approve its independence, recruitment, and resources.
• Yamabuki Chidori helped establish Genji Academy, recruited and tested members, and began training them in combat and Hollow hunting.
• Yamabuki Chidori rescued Delia and recruited Gen'en Kinra, while Unohana Yachiru killed the force sent to recruit her.

Yamabuki Chidori uncovered Quincy and Hollow powers, survived a battle with Baraggan, and brought Unohana Yachiru into the Gotei 13 after defeating her. As Unohana took command of the 11th Division, Chidori trained Chōjirō Sasakibe and became entangled in a murder involving Shijima Chiru.

• Yamabuki Chidori investigated missing souls in the Human World, fought Zendouji Yuuhin, and killed the Quincy Martin Davis after learning to form a Spirit Bow.
• Yamamoto sent Yamabuki Chidori, Chōjirō Sasakibe, and Hachisato to Hueco Mundo, where Chidori awakened Perfect Sanctification and Silver Radiant Angel during his battle with Baraggan Louisenbarn.
• After recovering from Perfect Sanctification’s damage, Yamabuki Chidori refused command of the First Squad and launched a clothing business with Shūtara Senjumaru and Katoru Hatsunoya.
• Unohana Yachiru attacked Seireitei, fought its defenders, and battled Yamabuki Chidori until he defeated her and took her into his custody.
• Yamamoto reprimanded Yamabuki Chidori but supported Unohana Yachiru joining the Gotei 13, then tested Chidori’s powers in a fight that ended when Chidori surrendered to Zanka no Tachi.

Yamabuki Chidori exposed Hane Hane Chiyo as her brother’s killer, prepared Soul Society for Yhwach’s coming invasion, and gained the power of the Soul King. After mastering Bankai and recruiting allies in Hueco Mundo, he returned to Soul Society with Shikkōgai Musashi and Baraggan.

• Yamabuki Chidori captured Shijima Chiru, learned that Hane Hane Chiyo had hired him to kill her brother, and brought Chiyo into the Gotei 13.
• Yamamoto approved Chidori’s Kidō Corps proposal, then sent him to meet the Soul King, who warned that Yhwach would attack in six months and gave Chidori a piece of his power.
• Chidori warned the Captains about the coming Quincy invasion, trained with Unohana and Shunshun Shidō, and fought Old Man while searching for Chiyo.
• Chidori infiltrated a Quincy gathering and killed its members, then fought Sakurane Saizo, recruited him into the Gotei 13, and learned Yhwach had delayed the war to regain his power.
• Chidori faced his Blade Spirit’s Bankai trial, survived the Red Blade Spirit’s time-based attacks, and awakened Scarlet Angel, though Crimson World could stop time for less than 0.01 seconds.
• Chidori traveled to Hueco Mundo with Chōjirō Sasakibe and Zendouji Yuuhin, defeated Baraggan, and fought Shikkōgai Musashi in the Forest of Great Hollows.
• Chidori defeated Musashi and persuaded him and Baraggan to help the Soul Reapers before returning to Soul Society, where Musashi challenged Yamamoto and Tsunayashiro Fūka intervened.

Yamabuki Chidori investigated the Quincy, then Hollowfied after the Sternritter attacked him in Hueco Mundo and lost control while trying to master his powers. He regained his sense of self, escaped Alice Hainley’s rule-based ability, reunited with the Gotei 13, and warned them that the Quincy invasion would come in five months.

• Yamabuki Chidori and Saitō Fubōfu infiltrated the Quincy palace to kill the sleeping Yhwach, but Shijima Chiru rescued them when Isaac Mardon overwhelmed them.
• Yamabuki Chidori led a mission to Hueco Mundo, declared himself King of Hueco Mundo, and recruited Coyote Starrk before Sternritter agents attacked him.
• Justin transferred his poisoned wound to Yamabuki Chidori, who died and transformed into a Hollow, and he killed several Sternritter before Unohana and the others subdued him.
• Yamabuki Chidori returned to Soul Society and tried to control his Hollow Power, but he transformed during training, accidentally cut Unohana’s throat, and fled after absorbing thousands of Hollows.
• Yamabuki Chidori devoured Hollows and Quincies in Hueco Mundo and entered the Quincy Palace, where Alice Hainley trapped his consciousness with the Book of Creation.
• Yamabuki Chidori met the Soul King in his mind, merged with his Hollow self, and awakened his Fullbring before challenging Alice in her rule-based Small World.
• Yamabuki Chidori escaped Alice’s power and was transported to the desert, where the Gotei 13 found him and learned he had regained his senses.
