Yamabuki Chidori built up the Gotei 13, recruited new captains, and prepared the Soul Society for Yhwach’s invasion. The war began with battles across Seireitei, leaving several captains injured or fighting overwhelming Sternritter forces.

• Yamabuki Chidori recruited Kumen'i Entetsu and Ōtōgawa Utsugi, helped establish the first thirteen Captains, and appointed Tsunayashiro Fūka as Fifth Division Lieutenant.
• Shūtara Senjumaru developed a self-repairing Shinigami uniform, and Yamabuki Chidori founded the Kidō Corps to help produce it before the war.
• Yhwach awakened, ordered the Wandenreich to invade the Soul Society, and Yamabuki Chidori prepared the Gotei 13 for the attack.
• Yamabuki Chidori proposed to Unohana, assigned defenses across Seireitei, and chose Hane Hane Chiyo to delay Yhwach while the Captains fought the Sternritter.
• Shunshun Shidō defeated Apollo with her Bankai, while Hane Hane Chiyo killed Apollo after he escaped their battle.
• Mardon’s forces attacked the East District, where Eski froze Shinigami and Mardon nullified Saitō Fubōfu’s Bankai as Shikkōgai Musashi fought back.
• Karachi nearly killed Katoru Hatsunoya in a dice game, but Ōtōgawa Utsugi carried him away for treatment, and Yamabuki Chidori saved him with Advanced Kido.
• Ōtōgawa Utsugi killed a little boy Sternritter with his Bankai, while Shijima Chiru concealed her squad and Bojia entered the East District in a towering form.

Yamabuki Chidori defeated Yhwach with Yamamoto, reshaped Central 46, and married Unohana. During their honeymoon, he investigated Hell and learned how Silver Thrombosis could be formed, then began empowering Ishida Oboro’s unborn child and descendants to secure a future source of it.

• Yamabuki Chidori killed Gabriel and several invading Sternritter, then fought Yhwach through successive transformations until Yamamoto joined him and they destroyed Yhwach.
• Yamabuki Chidori and Yamamoto forced the nobles to accept a reformed Central 46 with veto power, then selected its members and appointed Hane Hane Chiyo Commander of the Kidō Corps.
• Yamabuki Chidori married Unohana, and the couple used Yamamoto’s leave forms to begin their honeymoon in the Human World.
• Yamabuki Chidori and Unohana encountered Quincy survivors and a murderous boatman, whom Yamabuki killed before following his soul through a Hell Gate.
• In Hell, Yamabuki Chidori found Alice and Gabriel, learned that Yhwach’s power could be reclaimed to form Silver Thrombosis, and escaped by absorbing Hell Power.
• After returning to Seireitei, Yamabuki Chidori became headmaster of Shino Academy and secretly infused Ishida Oboro’s unborn child and future descendants with his power so he could extract Silver Thrombosis from Quincy hearts.

Yamabuki Chidori guided the next generation of Soul Reapers, from helping Ukitake recover to taking up the 11th Division and developing Spirit Particle Muskets. He tested Kuchiki Ginrei through a dangerous captaincy trial and a grueling training period, leaving Ginrei ready to return to Seireitei and claim the promised gift.

• Ishida Aoi inherited Yamabuki Chidori’s power, built a family with two wives, and later died after Chidori discovered Silver Thrombosis in his heart.
• Yamabuki Chidori placed the Soul King’s Right Arm in young Jūshirō Ukitake, improving his health, then helped Unohana confront the young Kenpachi Zaraki.
• Chidori became the 11th Division Captain, while Unohana took command of the newly medical-focused Fourth Division, and Chidori developed Spirit Particle Muskets to fight Hollows.
• Chidori supported Saitō Fubōfu’s resignation and set Kuchiki Ginrei the task of hunting an Adjuchas without help from his clan.
• Ginrei rescued Natsuki from Hollows, defeated the threat with his Zanpakuto, and passed the captaincy test after Chidori and Saitō intervened to save them from further attackers.
• Ginrei declared that he intended to marry Natsuki, and Chidori persuaded the Kuchiki elders to accept her as Ginrei’s principal wife.
• Chidori trained Ginrei in practical judgment, vigilance, and survival, including forcing him to witness executions and hunt through the mountains.
• Ginrei endured Chidori’s mountain training and tried unsuccessfully to touch her on the final day, then descended with her to receive the promised gift.

Yamabuki Chidori dismantled the Tsunayashiro Clan’s experiments, shaped the rise of new captains, and trained Shiba Isshin for the future. The arc ended with Isshin fleeing a Vasto Lorde while Kamishirokawa Kenpachi fought through a cloud of poison.

• Yamabuki Chidori exposed the Tsunayashiro Clan’s crimes, raided its estate, found a Soul King Fragment, and ordered the clan executed.
• Yamabuki Chidori recruited Maru, who became 11th Division Captain after defeating three Adjuchas, but Kamishirokawa challenged and killed him before taking the captaincy.
• Ōtōgawa Utsugi arranged for Shiba Isshin to join the Gotei 13 as his successor, and Yamabuki Chidori put Isshin, Shunsui Kyōraku, and Jūshirō Ukitake through special training.
• Shiba Isshin joined the Fourth Division, then transferred to the Tenth Division and joined a Hueco Mundo rescue mission after the expedition squad was surrounded.
• Shiba Isshin found his wounded father, Shiba Lieutenant, and challenged a six-armed Adjuchas, striking it with Moon Fang Sky Roar.
• Salkapolo revealed himself as a Vasto Lorde and attacked the rescue team, while Kamishirokawa Kenpachi held him off as Isshin fled and poison filled the air.
