Background / History
Founding
The pavilion’s founder had once been the Heaven Mending Sect’s most outstanding successor in the Upper Realm. According to Shi Zhao, the Heavenly Kingdom plotted against him, while Goddess Tianyi deceived him. After leaving the sect in sorrow, he was banished to the Lower Realm and expelled. He founded the Heaven Mending Pavilion there, only to be assassinated by Tianyi and her accomplices 94.
The founder planted the Gourd Vine and gave it life. The vine protected the pavilion from ancient times onward, but injuries sustained in an ancient war damaged its foundations and shortened its lifespan 86 94 96.
Recruitment of the Two Stones
Shi Zhao directed Shi Yi toward the pavilion and its Ancient Sacred Academy, telling him that a suitable teacher awaited him there. Xia Youyu subsequently recognized Shi Hao’s potential and gave him a Rune Token, while also attempting to recruit Shi Zhao 59 61 62.
When Shi Hao reached the pavilion, people were waiting to catch him. Rather than use his token, he changed his appearance and entered the recruitment assessment in disguise. His exploits included damaging the trial grounds, digging out a precious bone, stealing rare Treasure Medicine, and beating other candidates; after entering, he also clashed with the Genius Camp 71.
The opening of the Ancient Sacred Academy attracted heirs of great clans and the youngest daughter of an ancient kingdom’s Human Emperor. Shi Yi sought entry and eventually entered the academy successfully 71 86.
The Sacrificial Spirit’s Final Flare
After the Hundred Broken Mountains expedition, Shi Hao used divine soil supplied by Shi Zhao to temporarily save the old vine. He then cultivated in the pavilion’s Scripture Pavilion, studied bone scriptures, and received guidance from its elders and Sacrificial Spirit 85 86.
The vine’s apparent revival was only a final flare, with an estimated six months to a year remaining. Enemies gathered outside to await its decline and seize its Divine Seed. The pavilion secretly evacuated important disciples, continuing preparations that had begun centuries earlier when the vine first started to weaken 86 96.
Refusal to Join the Heaven Mending Sect
Yue Chan offered the pavilion protection, stationed experts, and increased support if it joined the Heaven Mending Sect. Its name, disciples, and elders would all be retained. The old vine refused, judging that the Sect wanted to use the pavilion’s influence to enter the Desolate Region and investigate its secrets 94.
Shi Zhao instead supplied the pavilion master with the Stone Emperor’s sealed offer to shelter disciples. Another evacuated group was subsequently sent to the Stone Kingdom’s Imperial Capital 94 96.
Siege and Survival
Before the main assault, enemies destroyed three of the pavilion’s seven secret strongholds. Almost all the disciples and experts stationed there were killed, leaving the remaining four refuges unsafe 96.
The siege targeted both the old vine’s Divine Seed—which might help a Venerable attain godhood—and the divine essence it would release upon death. Attackers surrounded the grounds and repeatedly destroyed the vine’s escape passages while the pavilion master and elders led bloody breakouts 97.
Shi Zhao killed the Heaven-Swallowing Sparrow, then confronted six besieging Venerables and slew five. The old vine blocked the fleeing Crocodile Flood Dragon and fought its final battle before dissolving into divine light. Shi Hao also fought on the ground with a Broken Sword and Purple-Gold Hammer 92 98 99.
The vine’s final divine rain prompted further fighting among opportunists inside the pavilion. Shi Zhao cleared its dwelling and planted the Divine Seed, which took root as a new Gourd Vine with signs that the old vine’s life imprint was reforming. She also rescued a pavilion elder whom the Rain Clan had trapped to steal a Precious Technique scripture 100.
Reconstruction and Later Events
The pavilion was rebuilt but kept its gates closed to outsiders. Shi Zhao remained for more than half a month to protect it, and the captive Crocodile Flood Dragon Venerable was bound by contracts and assigned to guard the grounds 102.
Shi Zhao reached the Venerable Realm at the pavilion and discussed her cultivation experiences with its senior members before returning to Stone Village. The pavilion master and other Kings and Marquises sought her guidance because they had not crossed the threshold into the Venerable Realm 103.
Later, pavilion disciples informed Shi Zhao that Shi Yi was about to emerge from the Ancient Sacred Academy. During her visit, she left spiritual treasures and checked the Gourd Vine: it had recovered its memories, was approaching Venerable-level strength, and could live for several more decades, although it had not achieved a full rebirth 134 135.

Cultivation & Defenses
Teaching and Inheritances
- Scriptural study: Bone scriptures, peng-bird Precious Techniques, and elder instruction helped Shi Hao strengthen his foundations and develop a rudimentary Kunpeng Method 86.
- Sacrificial Spirit’s guidance: The Divine Vine guided Shi Hao and provided a Kun Peng descendant’s talisman bone 86.
- Specialist instruction: Mu Yan taught lightning cultivation and supplied Tribulation Lightning Liquid 86.
- Ancient Sacred Academy: Preserves the Heaven-Mending Art and ancient cultivation imprints for the most exceptional entrants 71.
Protective Forces
- Gourd Vine: Once ignited divine fire and was hailed as a god. It could wield Order Divine Chains, construct void passages, and repel attacks using its green-skinned gourd 96 97.
- Senior cultivators: The pavilion master and senior Kings and Marquises fought to protect disciples, but the lack of another Venerable left the organization vulnerable as the vine weakened 97 103.
- Crocodile Flood Dragon Venerable: Became a contracted captive and gate guardian after the siege 102 103 135.
- Disciples and former members: Hundreds of senior disciples defended Shi Hao against hostile clans; former pavilion experts later crossed the Great Wilderness to aid their old sect 86 100.
External Relationships
- Heaven Mending Sect — Shares the founder’s historical lineage, but is a separate organization. The pavilion rejected Yue Chan’s proposed incorporation, and the Sect had never formally acknowledged it 93 94.
- Stone Kingdom / Stone Emperor — Offered sanctuary for pavilion disciples through a letter bearing the Human Emperor Seal; an evacuated group went to the Imperial Capital 94 96.
- Deer-Chasing Academy — Nearby recruitment competitor. Xia Youyu was particularly eager to prevent the Shi siblings from choosing it instead 62 71.
- Rain Clan — Attacked the pavilion and attempted to steal an elder’s water-related Precious Technique scripture during the chaos 100 102.
- Tuoba Family — Participated in the siege and attempted to prevent disciples from escaping; its ancestor was killed by the Purple-Gold Hammer 97.
- Kun, Li, Yuan, and Meng clans — Pursued Shi Hao and attacked the pavilion. Shi Hao later targeted their holdings in the Void God Realm 86 102.
