"The Primordial Ancient Mine?"
Li Qingyue's heart sank slightly.
The Primordial Ancient Mine was the most powerful Life Forbidden Zone in this world.
It was also the greatest source of Dark Turmoil beneath heaven.
Countless Supremes lay buried within it.
From the Mythical Era to the present, over millions of years, generation after generation of Great Emperors had almost all ended up buried in the Life Forbidden Zones.
It was the source of danger and terror.
"That is the Primordial Ancient Mine!"
Yang Wuzheng raised his hand and pointed northeast of Ancient Source City.
Li Qingyue looked in that direction and saw a mountain range stretching across the boundless Gobi Desert.
The mountains were not large. They looked like an ordinary range, not even as vast or imposing as the others.
Yet they were pitch-black throughout, like a monstrous beast waiting to pick its prey and devour it, watching Ancient Source City with a tiger's hungry gaze.
Less than a thousand li separated them.
Li Qingyue knew full well that although the Primordial Ancient Mine looked small, approaching it was like entering an ancient world.
It was vast beyond all bounds.
It was nothing like what could be seen from outside.
This ancient city doesn't seem to exist in later ages!
Li Qingyue's heart jolted. She suddenly remembered that in later ages, nothing but the ruins of ancient cities surrounded the Primordial Ancient Mine.
According to the legends of later ages, something ominous was unearthed in the Primordial Ancient Mine.
Could this enormous ancient city have been buried too?
At that thought, a chill crept through Li Qingyue's body.
Looking at the ancient city before her, she felt as though she were seeing a monstrous beast with its jaws wide open, waiting for people to walk inside of their own accord.
"Let's go. We're heading into the city!"
Yan Wushuang came closer and said, "After a month on the road, we've finally reached our destination."
"There are plenty of wonderful things in this city. Oh, right, I've even prepared a gift for you!"
"Think of it as an apology. I shouldn't have laughed at you."
Yan Wushuang spoke earnestly. He could not figure out what he had done wrong, but he did know why she was upset.
He reached out, took Li Qingyue by the arm, and started toward the city.
Yang Wuzheng frowned slightly at the sight, then said nothing more.
His junior brother was rather careless and never hid his fondness for anyone.
In fact, once he liked someone, nothing else even crossed his mind. He seldom paid any attention to the distinctions between men and women.
It was not something he did deliberately.
Why does this bastard keep bringing that up?!
Can't he just forget it?
Stupid bastard!
Li Qingyue's expression darkened at his words.
She tried several times to pull free, but she simply lacked the strength to contend with a Sacred Body.
The Sacred Body's strength was the greatest under heaven.
It was several times, even dozens of times, greater than that of an ordinary cultivator.
Only the Tyrant Body could rival it.
"I can walk on my own. Stop pulling me!"
Li Qingyue spoke up. Being held by the Sacred Body's burning-hot palm made her uncomfortable all over.
"All right, you can walk on your own!"
Yan Wushuang hastily gave in, terrified of making Li Qingyue angry again.
Especially since she had clearly stopped being angry yet still refused to speak to him. He had puzzled over that for a long time without understanding why.
The three of them stepped into the ancient city.
An ancient road more than ten zhang wide greeted them.
Paved with blood-red stones, it led straight to the other side of the city.
Halls lined both sides of the road, with every manner of palace and pavilion among them.
The occasional branching roads were just as broad, leading in all directions.
There were many people on the road. Every one of them had a powerful physique, with fluctuations of divine power surrounding them.
Quite a few figures even shimmered with flowing light as they strode through the air, ethereal as immortals.
Clearly, there was not a single mortal in this ancient city.
They were all cultivators.
Their strength was far from low, too. At least to Li Qingyue's senses, they all seemed like fierce beasts.
Their auras were intimidating.
But gradually, she noticed something amiss. As she followed Yang Wuzheng and Yan Wushuang, every passerby around them turned to look at her.
Quite a few even stopped to watch, appraising her and making comments.
Even the figures traveling through the air stopped one after another to look at her.
This left Li Qingyue feeling uneasy.
Instinctively, she edged closer to Yan Wushuang and Yang Wuzheng.
In this ancient city, they were the only ones she could rely on.
"Why are they looking at me?"
Li Qingyue spoke softly. Although she knew her appearance was probably very beautiful,
surely it was not enough to make everyone turn toward her wherever she went.
Especially when some of them were women.
"Probably because you're the only mortal in this city!"
Yan Wushuang considered the question very seriously for a moment before saying, "Hmm, it could also be because you're wearing men's clothes."
Li Qingyue nodded thoughtfully.
Beside them, however, Yang Wuzheng said calmly, "The greater reason is probably that you're too beautiful."
Although Li Qingyue wore moon-white men's clothes, her figure, features, and bearing all surpassed those of the immortal maidens of the Holy Lands.
Her tranquil bearing in particular made her seem like a green lotus, standing alone and apart from the world.
That was what drew people to her most.
Even he was drawn to that bearing.
Anyone would surely look at a girl so tranquil and lovely, with such cool, aloof grace.
"Too beautiful?"
Li Qingyue glanced at Yang Wuzheng, unsure whether to feel pleased or troubled.
She rather missed having her face smeared with mud. No one paid her any attention then, and no one even came near her.
"We're here!"
Just as the three of them passed through the crowd and reached a cluster of halls, Yan Wushuang suddenly stopped.
Before them stood an enormous palatial compound.
Its gates rose like grand halls, resplendent in gold and jade, shimmering with brilliant light. Beyond them, countless landscaped gardens glowed green and crimson, their fragrance filling the air, magnificent beyond compare.
Amid that riot of color stood pavilions as imposing as mountains. Countless ancient trees rose like pillars holding up the heavens, casting dappled shadows.
Above the compound, more pavilions drifted amid swirling clouds and mist, like the dwellings of immortals.
Occasionally, slender, graceful figures passed through them, looking like immortals themselves.
"The Exquisite Pavilion?"
Astonished, Li Qingyue looked at the dark-gold plaque above the hall, where three elegant characters gleamed.
Clearly, the plaque was also engraved with dao patterns, and its material was anything but ordinary.
"The Exquisite Pavilion is the largest shop for treasured garments in the Eastern Wasteland. Apart from the Western Desert, it has shops throughout the other Four Continents. It carries every kind of clothing you could want, a dazzling array."
"Every piece is exceptionally beautiful and highly sought after."
Yang Wuzheng explained in an even tone, suddenly realizing what Yan Wushuang intended to do.
He was presumably going to give Li Qingyue a set of Treasured Garments.
He briefly studied Li Qingyue. Although men's clothes still could not conceal her splendor, as a woman, she would be better suited to the treasured garments of the Exquisite Pavilion.
Merely imagining Li Qingyue dressed in the Treasured Garments sent ripples through Yang Wuzheng's usually tranquil heart.
His eyes filled with anticipation as well.
He, too, very much wanted to see how breathtaking Li Qingyue would look in women's Treasured Garments.
"A shop for treasured garments?"
Li Qingyue murmured softly, still gazing in astonishment at the pavilions amid the floating clouds.
Without thinking, she followed the two men into the compound and entered the first pavilion.
"This garment was woven from the finest silk blended with white-jade essence gold."
"It is inscribed with dust-repelling, cold-repelling, heat-repelling, and divine radiance dao patterns, interwoven with void, five elements, and yin-yang dao patterns to form formation patterns. It absorbs the essence of heaven and earth on its own and can withstand a blow from a Four Extremes Realm cultivator without suffering the slightest damage."
"This is the Exquisite Pavilion's newest set of Treasured Garments, priced at thirty thousand jin of source stone. Would you care to purchase it, fairy?"
Just as they entered the pavilion, a woman's gentle voice reached them.
There was only one crystal-clear display case in the center of the pavilion, with a long dress inside.
The dress was pure, holy white, its ribbons light and airy. A soft white glow shimmered around it, as though a bright moon were hidden within.
The speaker was a middle-aged woman standing before the display case, introducing the garment to the person in front of her.
Before the display case stood a woman in a long white dress. Her expression was cool, and radiance wreathed her body, making her look like an immortal maiden.
She was carefully examining the dress inside the case.
A man stood beside her, composed and elegant, with radiance likewise shining around him.
Onlookers crowded around them, standing on either side of the display case. At those words, they all stared dumbfounded at the white dress.
"Heavens, thirty thousand jin of source stone for one garment? An ordinary small family couldn't afford that, could they?"
"Obviously. Even an ordinary grotto-heaven blessed land couldn't afford it."
"Hiss! Thirty thousand jin of source stone-that could probably nurture a Dao Palace Realm expert!"
"The dress is beautiful, sure, but who would be willing to spend thirty thousand jin of source stone on one garment?"
"Shh! Stop talking. Just because you can't afford it doesn't mean no one can."
"That fairy is the Saintess of the Tianxuan Holy Land, and the man beside her is the Saint of the Tianquan Holy Land!"
"A mere thirty thousand jin of source stone-does that amount to anything for the Tianxuan and Tianquan Holy Lands, two of the Seven Great Holy Land of the Eastern Wasteland?"
Those waves of startled exclamations made Yan Wushuang, Yang Wuzheng, and Li Qingyue stop just after entering.
They stood watching.
Seemingly sensing Yan Wushuang's blood and qi, as mighty as a dragon-elephant's,
the Tianquan Saint and Tianxuan Saintess both turned to look at Yan Wushuang and Yang Wuzheng.
"Oh? So it's the Sacred Body of the Nine Saints Gate!"
The Tianquan Saint spoke in surprise, smiling and nodding slightly. Then he looked at Yang Wuzheng and said,
"You must be Yang Wuzheng, the Innate Dao Body of the Nine Saints Gate?"
