Background / History

Yan Wushuang belongs to the Nine Saints Gate alongside his senior brother, Yang Wuzheng, who possesses an Innate Dao Body. Proud of his Human Sacred Body, Yan takes the Great Accomplishment Sacred Body of thirty thousand years earlier as his ideal: a defender of humanity who resisted the Dark Turmoil and guided the Feathered Great Emperor before his attainment of the Dao 10 12.

He meets Li Qingyue while reuniting with Yang Wuzheng on the journey toward the Primordial Ancient Mine. After learning of an ancient tomb attracting Holy Lands, clans, and the Feathered Divine Dynasty, he encourages the three of them to travel together and confidently promises that he and Yang can protect her 10 12.

Appearance

• Height and build: Li Qingyue only reaches his chin when looking up at him. He has broad palms, although his arm is described as “not particularly large” when carrying a heavy Fierce Beast 11 15 18.
• Golden battle aura: His divine power and blood energy blaze gold, sometimes forming dragon-like manifestations above him 32 37.
• Contrasting expressions: In battle he resembles a golden god of war; beside Li Qingyue, he frequently wears a sheepish or foolish grin 32 35 36.

Personality

Yan Wushuang is blunt, outspoken, and fiercely confident in his constitution. Yang Wuzheng considers him straightforward and somewhat savage in combat. His pride does not prevent close companionship: the two exchange insults, settle disagreements through sparring, and remain close even after fighting each other to exhaustion 11 15 16.

His fondness for Li Qingyue makes him unusually attentive and often oblivious to social boundaries. He hunts and prepares food for her, tends her injuries, and argues that she needs care rather than further emotional blows. He is deeply affected when he understands that her fixation on food comes from the struggle to gain enough strength to survive 11 13 15.

His apparently simple manner also conceals a mischievous streak. He deliberately feigns chest pain to obtain Li Qingyue’s attention and later pressures Tuoba Xiong into compensation. Around potential romantic rivals, he becomes watchful and possessive, though Li Qingyue’s anger can reduce his battlefield confidence to nervous stammering 30 35 36 37 44.
