The foremost Holy Land in Central Province was rumored to have produced several great accomplishment Sacred Bodies.
At the end of the Primordial Era, the Fighting Saint Emperor passed away in meditation.
All the other races fell into slumber and withdrew from the world. The Desolate Ancient Era arrived, and the Human Race began to rise.
But along with it, the Life Forbidden Zones, long suppressed by successive ancient emperors, also began to unleash Dark Turmoil frequently.
The Human Race had no emperor, and disasters struck again and again.
It was during this age of Dark Turmoil that several great accomplishment Sacred Bodies emerged in succession, towering over the world and resisting the Dark Turmoil, earning undying merit for the Human Race.
They established the Nine Saints Gate, the foremost Holy Land in Central Province, as an everlasting legacy for the Sacred Body.
Many people of the Human Race even called that age the Middle Ancient Period, all because of the Human Sacred Body's unparalleled achievements.
It was precisely because several great accomplishment Sacred Bodies emerged one after another that the Human Race survived the Dark Turmoil and gained a chance to catch its breath.
One peerless Great Emperor after another arose, beginning with the Wa Empress and the Demon Emperor.
After them came Great Emperor Fuxi, the Gou Chen Great Emperor, the Tianxuan Great Emperor, the Ziwei Great Emperor, the Eternal Great Emperor... and many others.
They also included the Amitabha Great Emperor and the Feathered Great Emperor from tens of thousands of years ago.
Only because those Sacred Bodies had rendered such unparalleled service to the world did the Human Race enjoy so glorious an age.
The Nine Saints Gate held a transcendent status throughout the entire Big Dipper Star Domain.
Yang Wuzheng and Yan Wushuang, one a Dao Body and the other a Sacred Body, were Saints of the Nine Saints Gate. Naturally, no one dared underestimate them.
The Saints' gazes grew slightly solemn, yet none could voice the trace of jealousy in their hearts.
They could only turn their eyes once more toward the mortal girl beside the two men.
"What an appetite this little girl has!"
Every Saint was somewhat astonished at the sight of those spotless plates.
A plate of roast meat might not look like much, but it came from Fierce Beasts accomplished in cultivation. Even a palm-sized piece weighed at least ten jin.
With all the food the Saints had offered her, no fewer than forty or fifty empty plates had piled up before her.
"Hiss... has this little girl been starving for ages?"
Everyone looked back at Yang Wuzheng and Yan Wushuang, a trace of puzzlement in their eyes.
These two had actually let such a beautiful girl go this hungry?
How could they bear it?
Even the extraordinarily composed Yan Wushuang and Yang Wuzheng felt as though they were sitting on needles beneath the Saints' strange gazes.
Li Qingyue could eat far too much.
The way she refused to waste even a morsel tugged inexplicably at their hearts.
Traces of heartache appeared openly on Yang Wuzheng's and Yan Wushuang's faces.
None of those present were fools. Seeing all this, they could easily draw further conclusions.
Noticing that Li Qingyue still looked unsatisfied, the Tianquan Saint hurriedly said, "Someone, bring Fairy Qingyue some more food."
At his words, everyone's thoughts stirred.
The Tianquan Saint probably had feelings for that mortal girl. Otherwise, he would hardly have paid her so much attention.
Yan Wushuang, who had seemed a little foolish, suddenly became sharp.
He watched the Tianquan Saint warily.
He was not stupid. It was simply that, whenever he faced Li Qingyue, his heart held nothing else-only joy.
Even Yang Wuzheng clenched both fists now, faint ripples stirring in his eyes as he stared straight at the Tianquan Saint.
Seeing their reactions, the Tianquan Saint paused, then felt somewhat embarrassed.
He, the distinguished Saint of the Tianquan Holy Land, had actually fallen for someone else's beloved confidante.
Yet every movement Li Qingyue made seemed to possess a magic of its own in his mind, making it impossible for him to forget her.
Her greedy eating in particular should have been an unseemly sight, yet somehow held an unforgettable charm.
"Thank you, Tianquan Saint!"
Li Qingyue thanked him. After hesitating a moment, she suddenly sounded a little embarrassed as she said, "Um... could I have only meat?"
Those fruits were delicious and rich in vital essence, most likely grown somewhere abundant in such energy.
But compared with the roast meat, they fell far short.
All the roast meat came from Fierce Beasts, and every one of those beasts had attained success in cultivation, its flesh containing divine essence.
It made the true qi within her grow extremely quickly.
Hearing Li Qingyue's request and the uncertainty in her voice, they reacted.
Gentle laughter rose throughout the gathering once more, and warm gazes turned toward Li Qingyue in unison.
It was as though Li Qingyue possessed some kind of magic at that moment.
Especially with her head slightly lowered, her cheeks flushed, and her embarrassed expression.
She resembled pink peach blossoms in March, kissed by a fine drizzle and blooming in shy splendor-a sight that filled hearts with joy.
At Li Qingyue's request, Yan Wushuang and Yang Wuzheng, who had been on guard just moments before, immediately settled down.
They understood Li Qingyue and each had their own guesses about her past.
Whatever else happened, they had to let the girl eat her fill first.
"Of course!"
The Tianquan Saint, however, gave it little thought. After all, today was only his second meeting with Li Qingyue.
"Did you hear that? Roast meat only!"
The Tianquan Saint addressed the servant waiting nearby for instructions.
The servant hastily bowed, then strode out of the estate.
Before long, more than a dozen graceful figures approached, carrying plates of fragrant roast meat.
"Thank you, Tianquan Saint!"
Li Qingyue thanked him softly, then continued eating heartily without standing on ceremony.
In Ancient Source City, the only people she could rely on were Yang Wuzheng and Yan Wushuang, with whom she had spent just over a month.
She also knew perfectly well that she was receiving such courteous treatment only because she accompanied the two of them.
Otherwise, she did not dare imagine how this group of Saints would behave.
Besides, she had already embarrassed herself. A little more embarrassment hardly mattered.
Eating was what mattered.
"You're far too polite, Fairy Qingyue!"
The Tianquan Saint answered with a smile, his face brimming with delight.
Now that he knew what Li Qingyue liked, catering to her tastes would be easy.
He did not think himself inferior to Yan Wushuang or Yang Wuzheng. He had simply spent too little time with her.
"Little Sister Qingyue, you can have mine too."
At that moment, the Tianxuan Saintess, who had remained exceptionally quiet, suddenly spoke with a smile. "Brother Yang, Brother Yan, how have you two been looking after her to leave Little Sister Qingyue this hungry?"
"If you don't know how to take care of her, I'll take Little Sister Qingyue away."
At those words, Yan Wushuang's and Yang Wuzheng's expressions changed slightly in unison.
Neither of them was a fool.
The Tianxuan Saintess was merely teasing them.
But they still heard a trace of warning in her words.
If they failed to take good care of Li Qingyue, someone else might truly steal her away.
At that thought, both men instantly grew vigilant.
"Thank you, Sister Yuping!"
Li Qingyue thanked her, her tone exceptionally affectionate.
She could clearly feel the Tianxuan Saintess's goodwill.
And as a fellow woman, the Saintess easily inspired warm feelings in her.
"Since you've called me your sister, there's no need to be so polite. Go on, eat!"
The Tianxuan Saintess smiled, yet a trace of worry lingered in her eyes.
The struggle of a great age was approaching, and it was bound to bring immense chaos.
The various special physiques, in particular, would become sources of turmoil.
At that thought, the memory of that disaster inexplicably surfaced in her mind.
She, too, had come from a mountain village and had been very close to an older girl there. Yet an unforeseen man-made calamity had erupted, and the entire village had been slaughtered.
That older girl from her village had also been killed outright, while she herself had escaped with her life.
Only after many subsequent experiences did she learn that the older girl had possessed the Taiyin Physique, the same physique as the Human Race's Lunar Saint Emperor of old.
It was precisely that physique that had brought death upon her and led to the slaughter of the entire village.
Her investigations over the years had given her a dim understanding that an enormous force was targeting the various special physiques.
Among the cases she knew of alone, several Divine Bodies, Dao Bodies, Sacred Bodies, and Taiyin and Sun Physiques had been silently exterminated before they could mature.
Staying beside a Sacred Body and a Dao Body was not good fortune, but a calamity instead.
I hope you won't get dragged into it!
