- Expanded into “Swallow Heaven Demoness”: This form is used during the worldwide campaign against her and recalled when she attacks the Primordial Ten Fiends Races 284 290.
- Contrasted with “Swallow Heaven Fairy”: More favorable passages use Fairy for the same woman, while acknowledging that her demonic reputation terrifies the Divine Dynasties 333.
- Acknowledged by Li Qingyue herself: When confronted with talk of subduing demons, she declares that she is the greatest demon in the world’s eyes 342.
History and Reputation
Emergence in the Eastern Wasteland
The title is already circulating when the Demonic Man observes Li Qingyue cultivating within the Fire Domain. Having himself been hunted by both humans and demons because of his mixed blood, he recognizes a parallel between their reputations and calls a demoness and a fiend “quite a fitting pair” 169.
Her reputation grows through confrontations with the Eastern Wasteland’s Holy Lands, the forging of her black cauldron, and the battle in Flower God Valley. Demon Flower Bloom’s intervention saves her outside the Fire Domain; she later receives his inheritance and uses heavenly tribulation against surrounding experts. Her name becomes frightening enough to stop children crying at night 267.
Retaliation for Yan Wushuang
Enemies exploit her attachment to Yan Wushuang, expecting her to return for the Human Sacred Body. She does return, then promises that none of those who hurt him will survive 272 273.
Using the Desolate Pagoda, she destroys hostile Holy Lands, families, and Feathered Divine Dynasty lineage mountains. The devastation leaves more than a million dead, while even the Life Forbidden Zones fall silent before the weapon in her hands 275 276.
Worldwide Demon-Slaying Campaign
The great powers issue proclamations condemning her destruction of human ancestral lands and cultivation legacies. Buddhist forces from the Western Desert and the Central Province’s Hundred Schools join the mobilization toward the Southern Ridge 278.
The campaign is not presented as morally uncomplicated. Some acquaintances remember that she was first hunted and driven into a corner. The Holy Lord of the Nine Saints Gate recognizes her as a young woman pushed to desperation, but also acknowledges that those she killed had families of their own. He concludes that the resulting hatred permits no reconciliation 278.
After her Flying Immortal Divine Fetus kills tens of thousands in the sealed battlefield, outside cultivators beg the Saints to execute the Swallow Heaven Demoness. Her subsequent use of the Immortal Bell devastates the remaining regions, and many factions become afraid even to mention her 283 285.
Fear Beyond the Human Powers
The Primordial Ten Fiends Races offer her alliances, a Saintess position, and a proposed union with a Saint Son. She instead attacks their ancient lands with the Immortal Bell; Forbidden Zone imperial laws intervene to prevent their annihilation 291.
Her reputation later spreads along the ancient roads. During her slaughter campaign, fifty-four Human Race cities are reported destroyed and tens of billions of humans killed. Human Heavenly Prodigies consequently regard her with conflicting hopes: they want her defeated for those deaths, yet also hope she can break the Ten Thousand Races’ domination 421.
She ultimately kills all fourteen Quasi-Emperors and three thousand Great Sages who participated in the siege against her, leaving the Ten Thousand Races Ancient Road submerged in blood 425.
Dao Attainment and Reckoning
The title remains in use during her Emperor-Ascension Tribulation and the Supremes’ attempts to obstruct her Dao. Their fear is that her attainment will turn their previous attacks into grounds for a devastating reckoning 450 460.
After attaining the Dao and rejecting immortality, she advances toward Big Dipper to punish the Forbidden Zones for her old friends’ deaths. Their lords organize a trap involving twenty Supremes, immortal blood, and the Fire Domain’s immortal fire 460 465.
Character Behind the Title
Li Qingyue’s ruthlessness is inseparable from her attachments. Demon Flower Bloom recognizes the same stubborn obsession in her that drove him to oppose the world for Qingwu. She seeks strength, revenge, and the ability to prevent those who treat her kindly from sharing her brother’s fate 210 226.
Yan Wushuang and Yang Wuzheng are both teachers and friends who protected and guided her early cultivation. Later Saints likewise recognize that her few loved ones form enduring obsessions, and that their deaths could drive her into catastrophic retaliation 307 338.
The story also distinguishes between different phases of her violence:
- An earlier assessment argues that, despite her massacres, she had not harmed ordinary people and compares her favorably with the Forbidden Zone Supremes 407.
- Later, escalating killing thoughts threaten to overwhelm her governing obsession and drive her into demonic madness 419.
- During that later campaign, witnesses report enormous human civilian losses; her tears nevertheless reveal that the feared Demoness remains capable of grief and affection 421 422.
