Background / History

Tobirama Senju developed the Shadow Clone Technique for espionage. Unlike the ordinary Clone Technique’s illusory doubles, it produces physical bodies capable of attacking and using ninjutsu. The technique is not exclusive to exceptional specialists: the narration states that most jonin know it 10 11.

Ruri learns from a palm-sized scroll that he believes may be the only thing his parents left him. It explains the technique’s principles and practical steps, with illustrated hand seals clear enough for children to follow. After mastering water walking and tree climbing, he initially expects Shadow Clone to be similarly easy, but repeated malformed clones force him to persist before succeeding 10 11.
