Title and Hierarchy
- Seventy-two ranked positions: The traditional Demon Gods are associated with seventy-two numbered pillars 180 374.
- Groups of twelve: The rankings are divided into tiers of twelve. The first tier runs from the Demon God Emperor to twelfth-ranked Love Demon God Xidi 374.
- Imperial leadership: The First Demon God is the Demon God Emperor, sovereign of the Demon Race 364.
- The Three Great Demon Gods: The first three positions are the Demon God Emperor, Moon Demon God, and Star Demon God 373.
- Rank is not simply a strength measurement: Repeated deaths at human hands can push a Demon God's position toward the bottom of the rankings 337.
- The title does not guarantee actual godhood: Some Demon Gods remain at the peak of the Eighth Order. Feng Xiu becomes a true god only after obtaining a suitable divine godhead 435 541.

Inheritance and Succession
Heirs and Names
- Most Demon Gods have several heirs. The Demon God Emperor is an exception because the Heaven-Defying Demon Dragon race has comparatively low reproductive ability 263.
- Names generally continue across successive holders of a Demon God position. Vasak explains that most Demon God names have remained unchanged 377.
- Succession need not follow the incumbent's death: Vasak voluntarily steps down and remains available to help the new Star Demon God govern 377 392.
Demon God's Crowns
- Crowns carry inheritable power. Wasu's assimilation of her predecessor's crown raises her internal spiritual power to nearly 400,000 392.
- A crown can emerge after a holder's death. The Mirror Image Demon God's silver crown leaves his head and is intercepted by an assassin 337.
- Crowns can condense again. After Yang Tian's extraction procedure, his creation and vitality power allows surviving Demon Gods to recover and regenerate their crowns 541.
Abilities and Skills
Spiritual Power
Demon Gods vary greatly in strength; their rank and access to a pillar substantially affect their combat threat.
- The top ten are described as possessing at least approximately 300,000 spiritual power, while Feng Xiu has already exceeded one million 183.
- Yang Haoyu considers Demon Gods below the thirty-sixth pillar manageable for Yang Tian with Adamantine No. 9, but warns that higher positions require a Divine Throne 290.
- The top three exceed what an ordinary Divine Throne can counter 290.
- By the later holy war, A Bao, Agares, and Wasu each possess spiritual power above roughly 700,000–800,000 532.
Demon God Pillar Amplification
Pillars can sharply increase their holders' power.
- Bu Song's spiritual power approaches 300,000 when his pillar activates, allowing his vines to kill powerful summoned beasts with single strikes 346.
- Beneath the First Demon God Pillar, Feng Xiu withstands Yang Tian's strongest star-powered slash and breaks his Star Confinement Formation 408.
- Ordinary divine artifacts can be difficult for Demon Gods to overcome without invoking their pillars 346.
Demon God Transformation
A transformation used to withstand otherwise lethal attacks.
- The forty-sixth-pillar Demon God activates it against Yang Tian's Instant Slash 252.
- An ordinary Ninth-Tier Demon God using the transformation is described as difficult for a human with 200,000 spiritual power to kill 252.
- It does not erase existing injuries: the already-wounded holder survives the strike but suffers further severe damage 252.
Individual Powers
Demon Gods possess distinct abilities rather than a uniform skill set.
- Star Demon God — Prophecy: Vasak foresees threats involving Austin Griffin and recognizes Yang Tian's importance to the Demon Race's future 302 362 377.
- Sea Poison Dragon Demon God — Sea Dragon Domain: Botis possesses a domain suited to his coastal position 418.
- Tree Demon God — Vines: Bu Song attacks, obstructs reinforcements, and kills summoned beasts with strengthened vines 346.
- Invisible Demon God — Assassin techniques: Bai En uses the Heavenly Demon Disintegration Art while trapped by Yang Tian 338.
- Demon God Emperor — One of Annihilation: Feng Xiu's signature attack kills the Deep Sea Demon Whale King; after attaining godhood, the technique contains divine power capable of threatening another god 431 454.
Associated Items
Demon God Pillars
- Individual quality: The pillars range from lesser to ordinary and great divine artifacts, though all carry the aura of great divine artifacts 180.
- Combined quality: Together, the seventy-two pillars constitute a Super Divine Artifact capable of trapping and killing an existence such as Austin Griffin 180.
- Origin: They were forged using another world's high-grade materials, fortune, manpower, and resources 317 324.
- Inherited memories: The pillars preserve knowledge of the Demon Gods' origins, including their connection to Austin Griffin 302 365.
- Imperial control: Controlling every pillar is described as an authority normally belonging only to the Demon God Emperor 541.
Magic Crystals
- A Demon God's Magic Crystal is compared in importance to a human heart or a Ninth-Tier powerhouse's golden core 541.
- Yang Tian develops a method of removing these crystals without killing their owners, although their strength temporarily declines 541.
- Feng Xiu leaves a God Rank Magic Crystal containing lingering consciousness that could potentially revive 540.
History
Origins and the Dark Age
The Demon Gods originated in another world in connection with resistance to Austin Griffin. Their pillars were that world's means of salvation rather than the cause of its devastation. Agares eventually explains that the Demon Gods came into being to fight Austin Griffin 302 324 534.
On the Holy Demon Continent, demonic energy transformed humans into demons. The resulting Demon Race's domination lasted more than six thousand years 317 324 534.
The Divine Throne of Eternity and Creation once killed numerous Demon Gods upon its arrival and severely wounded the emperor of that generation, who died afterward 324.
War and Succession
The destruction of a Demon God Pillar triggers a holy war. Long Haochen seeks to destroy further pillars, while Yang Tian instead intends to collect and reforge them into a powerful divine artifact 317 324 371.
Vasak's abdication brings Wasu to the third-ranked position. Feng Xiu subsequently attains godhood, and A Bao inherits the imperial throne while his father remains an active power behind the Demon Race 392 435 452 513.
During the renewed war, A Bao, Agares, and Wasu confront Long Haochen together because of the threat posed by his companion, Austin Griffin 531 532.
End of the Pillar Order
By the end of the conflict, Yang Tian possesses all seventy-two pillars. Feng Xiu relinquishes his body, but his soul survives and begins searching for Bai Lingxuan. The Demon Race's Dark Age is declared over 540.
Yang Tian spares the surviving Demon Gods, collecting their Magic Crystals while granting restorative creation and vitality power. He then begins refining the seventy-two pillars, which form an array to resist his efforts 541 542.
The Divine Office
Yang Tian later appoints Feng Xiu as Demon God, charged with governing the Demon Race of the Holy Demon Continent. Bai Lingxuan becomes his divine envoy 543.
In the finale, Feng Xiu identifies himself as a demon god rather than the Demon God Emperor. His palace is among the largest divine palaces, comparable in scale to those of the Gods of Kindness and Destruction. The Demon Race survives, with Yang Tian's daughter managing its people 544.
