Su Yu was a little baffled when Kaido suddenly turned gray, the light draining from his eyes.
Did Kaido really want to die that badly? Was he this disappointed just because I said I wouldn't kill him?!
But Su Yu didn't care whether Kaido wanted to die. Kaido had already lost his freedom!
"Kaido, your life is no longer in your own hands, so stop clinging to unrealistic fantasies!"
After explaining Kaido's current situation, Su Yu continued, "I'm not going to kill you. All you have to do is sign this contract, and you can leave."
Su Yu pressed his palm down against the empty air, and an ancient parchment scroll appeared out of nowhere. It was covered in mysterious symbols that served as both decoration and manifestations of the oath's power.
With a gentle push from Su Yu, the parchment floated over to Kaido.
Kaido examined the few lines written on the parchment. He had never seen this script before, yet he could understand what it meant.
In essence, from this day forward, Kaido would nominally belong to the Wish-Granting Bar. He could do nothing that harmed its interests, and if the bar ever found itself in trouble, he had to provide support wherever needed!
Kaido was puzzled. With Su Yu at the Wish-Granting Bar, who would dare cause trouble? If someone came along whom even Su Yu considered a formidable opponent, what difference would Kaido's presence make? He simply couldn't understand the point of this contract.
As for whether the contract actually had the power to bind him, Kaido had no doubts whatsoever. He could sense the tremendous energy concealed within the parchment, strange and mysterious. This was definitely no ordinary piece of parchment. He also had an instinctive feeling that he could never stand against that power.
Of course, Kaido could never have guessed, no matter how hard he racked his brain, that Su Yu wasn't a native of the One Piece World. One day, Su Yu would leave this world, and when that happened, Miland would be the only one left at the Wish-Granting Bar.
"What happens if I sign this contract but don't fulfill its terms?"
"In that case, you'll die..."
Kaido's eyes lit up at the word "die." Death-what a beautiful word! At that moment, he even considered deliberately violating the contract to escape Su Yu's clutches!
But just as Kaido was secretly rejoicing, Su Yu's devilish whisper suddenly reached his ears.
"You'll die... of course not. How could I do something so cruel? Don't worry, you definitely won't die. You'll just suffer unbearable pain throughout your entire body until you naturally die of old age. This contract also treats hidden ailments and improves your physical condition, so you can live even longer. Well? Happy?"
Happy? Do you think I'd be happy?! What kind of devil are you?! Please, just be a little crueler and put me out of my misery!
Kaido was about to refuse when he realized that things might be even worse if he didn't sign. But he couldn't bear to simply accept the contract either. He sank even deeper into despair.
Seeing that Kaido was so "pleasantly surprised" he couldn't even speak, Su Yu nodded and snapped his fingers. Kaido's hand began moving on its own, beyond his control.
Kaido grabbed his right hand with his left and pulled back with all his might, his face turning red from the strain. Unfortunately, it didn't do a damn thing. Under his despairing gaze, a cut opened on his right index finger. Blood stained the entire finger red before it pressed down onto the contract.
The parchment instantly dissolved into a string of mysterious, intricate runes that drifted toward Kaido's body, leaving a small tattoo on him.
By then, Kaido had sat up. He stared at the newly formed tattoo on his chest with a complicated expression. Not only had he lost the fight, but he'd lost himself too. What a crushing loss!
He instinctively touched the tattoo, and his heart lurched with an inexplicable sense of dread.
"All right, stop looking so miserable, as if I've been bullying you. That contract doesn't confine you to the Wish-Granting Bar. You can do whatever you want afterward. You're still free. You just can't hurt Miland or damage the bar's property. And if some idiot comes to make trouble and Miland can't handle them, you'll have to help him!"
Kaido badly wanted to say that Su Yu really was bullying him! But he felt that would clash with his tough-guy image, so he kept his mouth shut.
Still, hearing Su Yu say that made him feel a little better. That was right-this wasn't really any different from before. He was still the governor of the Beasts Pirates!
Then Kaido seemed to realize something. "Just him? What about you?"
"Me? When the time is right, I'll leave this place."
Kaido wanted to ask where Su Yu would go after leaving, but although he opened his mouth, he ultimately didn't ask.
Since there was nothing else to do, Kaido prepared to leave. He had thoroughly humiliated himself today. He stood up and was just about to transform into his Azure Dragon Form when Su Yu called him back. He instinctively stopped, which made him curse inwardly.
"Oh, right, Kaido. Doflamingo was the one who sent you here, wasn't he? If you want to take your anger out on him, remember to go easy. Don't beat him to death."
I specifically left that prey for Miland. I can't let you beat him to death just to vent your anger.
Kaido was a little confused. Hadn't Su Yu and Doflamingo had a conflict before? Why would Su Yu specifically ask him to spare Doflamingo's life? He couldn't figure it out, so he simply stopped thinking about it. He hadn't planned to kill Doflamingo anyway. After all, he still needed his Artificial Devil Fruit technology.
He gave a sullen acknowledgment, then transformed into his Azure Dragon Form and shot into the sky, flying off into the distance.
The pirates watching stared blankly after Kaido as he flew away. They felt as though they had been dreaming. Everything that had just happened was so surreal that even though they had witnessed it themselves, they couldn't believe it was real.
"The world is about to change..."
As for Kizaru and Rayleigh, they quickly regained their composure after their initial surprise. After all, they had already experienced a glimpse of Su Yu's strength, and Rayleigh even knew his true identity.
Su Yu looked around and saw that their battle had left the surrounding area riddled with craters, like the surface of the moon. Although he was the "victim" of Kaido's attack, he still bore some responsibility for all this, so he felt he ought to restore the surroundings.
Su Yu brought his hands together, and a soft glow spread over his entire body. The light gradually separated from him and flew toward the damaged buildings and badly ravaged ground, as well as the utterly innocent mangrove tree struck at the very beginning.
Wherever the light touched, it was as though time were flowing backward. Under the stunned gazes of the watching pirates, Kizaru, and Rayleigh, everything returned to its original state...
