Everything-the buildings, the ground, even the enormous mangroves-returned to its original state. If they had not still remembered the shock of what had just happened, they might have thought Kaido had never come at all!
Once Su Yu finished restoring the surroundings, he nodded in satisfaction and turned back toward his bar, leaving a crowd of stunned onlookers behind.
The onlookers were truly shocked. Incredible strength was something they could explain, but this miracle-like sight could hardly be described as strength. Could a Devil Fruit really possess such wondrous powers? A Divine Fruit?
Rayleigh, the only one who knew the truth, could not help thinking, As expected of a god!
A god's mighty power truly was beyond the understanding of mortals like them.
Inside the bar, several pirates lay sprawled across the floor. They had been too weak to withstand Kaido's Conqueror's Haki and had fainted on the spot. Those still conscious stared at Su Yu as though they were looking at a deity.
They felt terribly guilty. After all, they had been secretly wishing Kaido would burn Su Yu to ashes. Now that they had seen Su Yu deal with Kaido so effortlessly, they were scared out of their minds. Not daring to linger in the bar, they shoved past one another and fled.
Miland was also awake. Although he had originally been very weak, the Cloth had granted him tremendous mental fortitude as well, rendering Conqueror's Haki completely ineffective against him.
He gazed at Su Yu with reverence. He had known Su Yu was strong, but he had never imagined he was this powerful. He had a rough idea of what the Four Emperors were: figures who stood at the pinnacle of these seas. Yet his boss had defeated one so easily, leaving his opponent utterly unable to fight back from beginning to end. A powerful sense of pride welled up inside him.
"Miland, throw all these unconscious people out."
"Yes, boss!"
The Marines were not the only ones keeping constant watch on dangerous figures. The news agency was watching them too!
Actually, it was less surveillance and more keeping an eye on them. These dangerous figures were the most likely sources of news, and the news agency did not even need people to watch them. It used specially trained News Coos, which made the task much easier.
Kaido, one of the Four Emperors, had made a special trip to the Sabaody Archipelago for some unknown purpose. But even a story titled "Kaido appears at the Sabaody Archipelago" would have found paying readers!
Yet none of the news agency's staff could possibly have expected such explosive news to emerge from this trip! It was even more explosive than the Bomb-Bomb Fruit!
Kaido was no nobody. He was universally recognized as one of the Four Emperors! That title was no empty honor-it had been built on fists and blood!
And now Kaido, one of the Four Emperors, had been defeated by someone who had previously been unknown, and with such ease! How could they not be shocked?
Although some of the Four Emperors were stronger than others, they were generally on the same level. Even Whitebeard, known as the World's Strongest Man, could never have defeated Kaido so easily, not even if he returned to the peak of his strength!
Did that not mean the title of World's Strongest Man was about to change hands?!
When Morgans, president of the World Economy News Paper, received the report from his people in the field, he was nearly stunned senseless too. Still, he was a professional journalist. He immediately ordered them to scrap the draft of the current issue, which had already been laid out and was ready for printing, and put the report about Kaido on the front page instead. They printed it as quickly as possible.
Then hundreds upon hundreds of News Coos carried the newspaper, bearing news that could shake the entire world, to every corner of the globe.
At Marine Headquarters in Marineford, inside the Fleet Admiral's Office, Kizaru was reporting the situation to Sengoku. He had left the Sabaody Archipelago shortly after Kaido's departure and had now returned to Marine Headquarters.
"I see. Kaido was defeated that easily..."
Fleet Admiral Sengoku sighed with mixed feelings. That brute Kaido had left quite an impression on him. After all, he was the first pirate who had dared to storm Marine Headquarters alone, and probably the last.
Sengoku had also participated in the Marines' team-building activity of ganging up on Kaido. How should he put it? Hitting him felt great, but the damage he inflicted barely bothered Kaido. It was not quite just scratching an itch, but the harm he did was extremely limited. By the end, Sengoku, Garp, and the others had exhausted themselves, only to find that every damn injury on Kaido's body had already healed!
That sight had left everyone attacking him gritting their teeth in frustration.
In the end, the five of them had no choice but to give up. Kaido, apparently satisfied with the fight, sat straight down on the ground and began snoring.
Yes, that was right. Surrounded by Marines on every side, the bastard had dared to fall asleep right there-and had slept soundly!
And now Kaido had lost. One person had defeated him, and it had been a crushing defeat. Unable to fight back at any point, he had simply taken a beating and spilled tons of blood across the ground of the Sabaody Archipelago.
According to Kizaru, Kaido probably would have died if Su Yu had not shown mercy at the end. In other words, if Su Yu wished, he could have ended the legend of Kaido's immortality right there.
For a while, Sengoku could not help feeling wistful. He had expected this outcome. After all, the incident with Kizaru had given him some idea of Su Yu's strength, and the Cloth offered another glimpse of it. Kaido's defeat did not surprise him at all. Alongside those mixed feelings, though, Sengoku also felt a little relieved.
He was relieved that Su Yu had been the one to defeat Kaido. Su Yu had always presented himself as a bar owner. He was not a pirate, not a member of the Revolutionary Army, and certainly not a Marine. He seemed like an ordinary commoner, yet also like a god high above them, looking down on the struggles between their different factions. Having someone like him defeat Kaido, one of the Four Emperors, was probably the best outcome possible short of the Marines doing it themselves.
After all, although Kaido was called one of the Four Emperors, he was still a pirate at heart! If another pirate had defeated him, these seas might well have descended into chaos...
Now, perhaps those pirates would behave themselves a little more.
Five old men sat in a room in the Holy Land Mary Geoise.
One wore a black suit, with white curls like individual rods, a bushy white beard, a flat cap, and a scar on his left cheek; another wore a dark blue suit and had long, straight white hair and a very long beard; another wore a dark red suit without a bow tie, had blond hair and a golden beard, and bore a scar on his chest; another wore a dark green suit, was bald on top, and had a mustache that slanted down on either side and a birthmark on his forehead; the last wore a white robe, was bald, wore glasses, and held a very long katana in his arms.
These five were the Five Elders, the highest publicly known rulers of the World Government!
At that moment, the five men sat on sofas while a masked man in a white suit stood before them, delivering a report...
