Ch. 227The Monster That Cried Love at the Heart of the World

Roland halted time’s acceleration to sever the world’s causality, leaving Aoko Aozaki stranded in the void and vulnerable to death. Aoko fought him with her final Magic Bullet before losing consciousness, as Roland prepared for the newborn universe and its singularity.

  • Aoko Aozaki suffered as her magical energy ran low, while Roland teased her and explained that he had stopped time to sever the world’s causality.
  • Aoko realized that dying in the void would prevent her from carrying over into the new cycle, then chose to attack Roland anyway.
  • Roland allowed the void to rush toward Made in Heaven, and Aoko fired her final Magic Bullet against the light consuming her.
  • Roland praised Aoko, tossed her unconscious body into the light, and watched the new singularity take shape.
  • Light and black mud engulfed Roland, and the Ten Crowns of Domination spread across the newborn universe as his power called to the future.

Ch. 228Brave new world

After losing to Roland in the accelerated end of the universe, Aoko woke in the New World and reunited with Alice, only to find the Kuonji Residence gone. When Roland appeared, Aoko discovered through True Magic that attacking him would leave the planet and its species without a future.

  • Aoko woke after the time cycle closed, regretted her defeat by Roland, and worried about Alice facing him alone.
  • Aoko dressed, hurried toward the Kuonji Residence, and met Alice on the road; she admitted Roland had not used his full strength.
  • Alice explained that Roland had sent the Old World's living beings into the New World under a fixed fate, while Aoko questioned why he had spared them.
  • At Shiroinu Mound, Aoko and Alice found the Western-style Mansion missing, and Alice grieved over its loss.
  • Roland appeared and welcomed Aoko to his brave new world; Aoko used the Fifth Magic and discovered that attacking him would erase the future of the planet and its species.

Ch. 229The omnipresent Roland

Roland restored Alice Kuonji’s Western-style Mansion and explained to Aoko Aozaki how he had completed the cycle while remaining able to alter fate. He then took Aoko out of the timeline, leaving Alice’s Familiar to report their disappearance in alarm.

  • Roland returned the Western-style Mansion and repaired the surrounding road with a flash of light.
  • Alice Kuonji stayed with Aoko while Aoko told her to inspect the restored house, then asked Roland where Touko had gone.
  • Aoko questioned how Roland had completed the cycle without fixing the universe’s future, and Roland confirmed that he had used a paradox involving his arrival from the future.
  • Roland told Aoko that the universe he existed in and the universe belonging to him were different, then pressed her shoulder and took her out of the timeline.
  • Alice’s Robin reported that Roland had made Aoko disappear, then excitedly speculated about what he was forcing her to do.

Ch. 230An offering of Aoko for this wonderful world

Roland explained how he had used Made in Heaven and the Womb of All Beasts to create countless universes and inscribe his fate into the Root, making himself and the worlds share a destiny. He revealed that Aoko Aozaki’s role in bringing forth the Sixth Magic required one final convergence, and she eventually gave up resisting him.

  • Roland showed Aoko Aozaki the Tree of Life and explained how he had created new universes by sharing his possibilities with them.
  • Aoko warned that the infinite universes would eventually consume Roland, but he said his Beast’s Authority and growing potential would let him endure.
  • Roland explained that he had inscribed his records into the Root and made himself the administrator of half the universe, binding his fate to its future.
  • Aoko realized that the ritual still required her as the Fifth True Magic User to fix the possibility of the Sixth Magic in place.
  • Roland approached Aoko, and after he threatened to let the world remain unsaved, she abandoned her resistance.

Ch. 231Aoko Aozaki's troubles

Aoko Aozaki confided in Kumari Kanaruko about her relationship with Roland and her worries about having little time alone with him while living with Alice Kuonji. The chapter ended with Roland cuddling Alice at the Western-style Mansion and asking whether she wanted to continue.

  • Aoko Aozaki told Kumari Kanaruko that she planned to study at the Clock Tower and had borrowed tuition money from Roland through Touko Aozaki's name.
  • Aoko revealed that she had a boyfriend who was staying with her and Alice Kuonji, and she asked how to handle the relationship between them.
  • Kumari suggested that Aoko build a welcoming atmosphere for Alice, but Aoko worried that being open about her relationship would make Alice feel isolated.
  • Roland held Alice at the Western-style Mansion and asked if she wanted to go again.

Ch. 232The Witch Wavered

Roland teased Alice Kuonji about their relationship while she remained in his arms, then pointed out that she had been spending less time with Aoko Aozaki. He proposed a plan to bring the three of them together, and Alice quietly accepted that she would help him.

  • Alice stayed silent after Roland asked whether she wanted to continue their secret meetings, and he took her response as agreement.
  • Roland teased Alice and removed her shoe while she urged him to take her back to school before Aoko returned.
  • Roland told Alice that she and Aoko had been spending less time together, prompting Alice to worry that she had neglected their friendship.
  • Roland proposed a plan that would let Alice preserve her friendship with Aoko while including him, and Alice objected but silently resolved to help.

Ch. 233The True Magic User Who Snuck Into the Base

Aoko returned home and, after Roland suggested they rest early, confronted him that night about their agreement. She admitted she could no longer hold back, leaving Roland and Aoko on the verge of giving in to their desire.

  • Aoko came home and learned Roland had ordered takeout, while he concealed that something had occupied him during the day.
  • Aoko and Alice exchanged awkward excuses about returning home early, and Roland broke the silence by announcing the takeout had arrived.
  • After dinner, Roland read in the living room before heading to his room in the East Wing.
  • Aoko pulled Roland into her room and, after hesitating, said she had new thoughts about their agreement.
  • Roland offered to scrap the agreement and warned that Alice might notice, but Aoko said she could no longer hold back.

Ch. 234Aoko, I'm coming in

Alice Kuonji worried that her distance from Aoko had made the True Magic User feel rejected, so she decided to visit and make amends. She arrived just as Aoko and Roland were getting intimate, leaving Aoko scrambling to hide him.

  • Alice Kuonji reflected on her guilt over distancing herself from Aoko and feared their relationship would end badly.
  • Alice closed her book and decided to go make up with Aoko.
  • Aoko Aozaki embraced Roland and grew bolder as they teased and kissed each other.
  • Aoko straddled Roland and prepared to take the lead, but the mansion door creaked open.
  • Alice called out to Aoko and announced she was coming in, while Aoko used Mana Burst to lift Roland and search for a hiding place.

Ch. 235Sneaking a Taste Right in Front of Her

Aoko Aozaki hid Roland in the bathtub when Alice Kuonji came to talk and asked what Aoko thought of him. Alice invited Aoko for tea the next evening, and after she left, Roland suggested Aoko should get used to sharing him.

  • Alice Kuonji entered Aoko Aozaki's room and asked what Aoko thought of Roland while Aoko hid him in the bathtub.
  • Aoko admitted that Roland was a bastard but that she liked him a little, and Alice said she did not dislike him either.
  • Alice invited Aoko to her room for black tea the next evening and left after asking her not to blame her afterward.
  • Roland revealed he could have turned invisible and asked why Aoko had delayed Alice's departure.
  • Aoko recognized that she had felt pleased when Alice sounded sorrowful, and Roland urged her to start getting used to sharing him.

Ch. 236Do you believe in gravity?

Aoko Aozaki and Alice Kuonji reconciled after Roland brought them together, and Roland then traveled to France to meet Kirei Kotomine. He found Kirei at a turning point in his life and asked whether he believed in gravity.

  • Aoko arrived at the Kuonji Residence, where Alice apologized before Roland appeared and the night ended with Aoko and Alice together.
  • Aoko and Alice discussed Alice's magic potion and admitted their shared involvement with Roland, then gradually returned to their close friendship.
  • Roland paused Made in Heaven's acceleration and went to keep his promise to someone whose fate would emerge in the new universe.
  • Kirei Kotomine prayed in a French church, reflecting on his nature, his dying wife, and the fate he believed he could not escape.
  • Roland met Kirei outside the church, said he had stopped by the hospital, and asked him whether he believed in gravity.

Ch. 237A bewildered Lord El-Melloi II

Alice Kuonji and Roland prepared to leave for London, where Roland intended to gather information and visit an old acquaintance. Ten years later, Lord El-Melloi II discovered that his student was describing a different Holy Grail War from the one he had fought in.

  • Alice Kuonji regained the experience and power she had accumulated in the accelerated timeline, then kissed Roland before Aoko reminded him to prepare for the next stage of his plan.
  • Roland said he had bought a map of London and planned to visit an old acquaintance there.
  • Lord El-Melloi II taught his students about magecraft foundations and reflected on his precarious position, his debts, and his efforts to preserve the El-Melloi name.
  • A student asked Lord El-Melloi II about the Holy Grail War and described a contest with ranked Command Spells and an upcoming Fifth Holy Grail War.
  • Lord El-Melloi II realized the student meant a different Holy Grail War and was left confused.

Ch. 238Waver, Take a Seat

Waver questioned reports that Marisbury Animusphere was entering a Fifth Holy Grail War in Tokyo, then met Roland, who confirmed the Grail was real and revealed that the war was a conspiracy driven by selfish desire. Waver realized Tokyo’s Grail might be the original Holy Grail, the cup that received the blood of God.

  • Waver doubted the reports of a recreated Holy Grail until his student said Marisbury Animusphere was preparing to enter the war and establish Chaldea.
  • Waver warned his student about the dangers of the Holy Grail War, ordered them not to spread the news, and checked Marisbury’s movements.
  • Waver returned to his office and found Roland waiting; Roland startled him by repeating Waver’s earlier words and asking him to take a seat.
  • Waver asked Roland whether joining the war would get him killed, and Roland said Waver would likely die before being revived in another form.
  • Roland confirmed that Tokyo’s Holy Grail was genuine but said the war was a conspiracy, prompting Waver to recognize that it might be the true Holy Grail.

Ch. 239She is a woman who could become your mother

Roland and Waver discussed the genuine Holy Grail and the Holy Church’s failure to identify it, while Aoko and Alice’s rivalry over Roland led to a chaotic reconciliation. Aoko explained that Roland needed to devour his other half to mature as Beast VI and revealed that the woman who could help bring it forth was someone who could become his mother.

  • Roland told Waver that the Holy Grail was genuine, that the Holy Church had failed to recognize it, and that a girl had taken it from them.
  • Alice grew unsettled watching Aoko’s closeness with Roland, then followed Aoko to Roland’s room and discovered her wearing Alice’s uniform.
  • Alice confronted Aoko over borrowing her clothes, and the three reconciled after Alice punished Aoko and joined Roland.
  • Aoko explained that Roland remained incomplete and could mature Beast VI sooner by devouring his other half.
  • Aoko warned that Roland could not consume the other half without a woman who possessed the necessary qualification, then said the woman could become his mother.

Ch. 240Professor Lev

Roland met Lev Lainur Flauros, a talented researcher who had joined Chaldea to pursue his family's Grand Order of restoring magecraft’s former glory. Lev agreed to contact Marisbury, and Roland planned to use Marisbury’s need for money to persuade him to withdraw from the Holy Grail War and give up his Master authority.

  • Waver told Roland that Marisbury was difficult to reach, but that a highly regarded researcher from the Department of Archaeology could contact him.
  • Lev Lainur Flauros entered Waver’s office, agreed to pass along Roland’s request, and explained that he joined Chaldea to pursue his Grand Order.
  • Lev described his ambition to use an Anomaly History in which King Arthur never returned the Sacred Sword to restore the flourishing of Mystery.
  • After Lev left, Waver asked what Roland intended to do with Marisbury, and Roland said he would offer him a reason he could not refuse because he was short of money.

Ch. 241You'll have to pay more!

Roland negotiated with Marisbury for ownership of Chaldea and Marisbury’s Master position and Holy Relic, then agreed to provide enough wealth to fund the project after Marisbury demanded more. Roland received the Command Spells and revealed his own Holy Relic, while Sajyou Ayaka searched for her older sister and found Sajyou Manaka in the garden.

  • Roland offered to fund Chaldea in exchange for ownership, oversight rights, and Marisbury’s place as a Master in the Holy Grail War, along with his Holy Relic.
  • Marisbury demanded more money, and Roland agreed to support Chaldea with his treasure; Marisbury transferred his Command Spells and Holy Relic to Roland.
  • Waver saw Roland’s new Command Spells and the ancient ring he planned to use as a Holy Relic, while Roland said he needed to prepare for a particular Master.
  • Sajyou Ayaka waited until her father left, then entered the Sajo Family garden to look for her sister.
  • Sajyou Manaka appeared behind Ayaka, who greeted her idolized older sister.

Ch. 242The Root Princess of the Sajo Family

Sajyou Manaka revealed that her connection to the Root had awakened into love for Roland, giving her purpose and driving her to prepare a betrothal gift for him. Meanwhile, Rin Tohsaka arrived in Tokyo to enter the Fifth Holy Grail War with a borrowed Holy Relic and confidence in the Heroic Spirit it would summon.

  • Sajyou Ayaka noticed Sajyou Manaka's new radiance and questioned the Command Spell marking on her chest, which Manaka called a ticket to a happy betrothal.
  • Sajyou Manaka told Sajyou Ayaka that Love's True Magic had given her a reason to live, then began practicing cooking for Roland.
  • Sajyou Manaka's connection to the Root had made her an all-powerful Root Princess, but meeting Roland had awakened her feelings and made her future uncertain and meaningful.
  • Sajyou Manaka prepared gifts for Roland and hoped the remaining mages would arrive so she could offer him everything.
  • Rin Tohsaka arrived at Tokyo Airport carrying a borrowed Holy Relic and resolved to win the Fifth Holy Grail War, believing its Heroic Spirit would secure her victory.

Ch. 243Fran-chan's great victory!

Sakura Matou considered summoning a Divine Spirit for the Holy Grail War before encountering Francesca, a veteran observer who proposed an alliance. Roland appeared, reunited with Sakura, and ordered Francesca to stay and watch the war with him.

  • Sakura Matou realized she could not interfere with the Holy Grail System and considered using her compatibility as a vessel to summon a Divine Spirit.
  • Francesca emerged from Sakura’s imaginary-number shadows, introduced herself as a Master, and offered to help Sakura win with fusion material.
  • Sakura rejected Francesca’s offer, and Roland appeared to take Sakura’s hand and reassure her.
  • Roland recognized that Francesca had inferred the Holy Grail War’s true purpose and warned that she would be dead if she had harmed Sakura.
  • Francesca accepted punishment without fear, and Roland ordered her to stay with him and watch the Holy Grail War through to the end.

Ch. 244Solomon of the Nine Rings

Roland let Francesca go and learned that Sakura wanted to join the Holy Grail War, while Sajyou Manaka confronted Francesca aboard her airship and pressed her to help advance the ritual. Francesca then received guidance from Solomon, who urged her to push the war beyond recovery, and learned his identity as the King of Magecraft.

  • Roland explained to Sakura Matou why Francesca could not be restrained by a contract, then told Sakura to kill Francesca whenever they met.
  • Sakura Matou chose to participate in the Holy Grail War, hoping to prove she had grown strong enough for Roland.
  • Francesca returned to her concealed airship and planned to remove her Command Spell by repeatedly dying and restarting.
  • Sajyou Manaka appeared aboard the airship, warned Francesca not to cause her trouble, and ordered her to work harder in the Holy Grail War.
  • A man wearing nine rings urged Francesca to exploit the war and push the world beyond recovery, then identified himself as Solomon.

Ch. 245Heroic Spirits descended one after another

Rin summoned Saber, believing she had called King Arthur, while Manaka summoned Karna as Archer and assigned him to handle the Holy Grail War’s threats. Roland completed a separate summoning, bringing forth a regal figure wearing ten golden rings.

  • Rin used King Arthur’s scabbard as a catalyst and summoned a petite Saber, whom she mistook for Arthur Pendragon.
  • Manaka asked Ayaka for advice about choosing a sacrifice, then decided to summon a powerful, obedient Heroic Spirit.
  • Manaka summoned Karna, recognized him as the son of the sun god, and named him Archer.
  • Manaka noticed a Grand-class being had descended, and Karna promised to fight without fear before she left the battles to him.
  • Roland completed his ritual and watched a regal, pale-haired figure appear wearing ten golden rings.

Ch. 246Scáthach

Bazett Fraga McRemitz summoned Scáthach instead of Cú Chulainn in a Tokyo hotel, and the two formed a contract. Scáthach revealed that she had come to the Holy Grail War to vanquish a goddess of beasts who should not exist in this era.

  • Bazett prepared a summoning circle in her hotel room and used her earrings as a relic to summon Cú Chulainn.
  • Darkness interrupted the summoning, and Scáthach appeared as Lancer, explaining that she had borrowed the opportunity meant for her pupil.
  • Bazett recognized and revered Scáthach, who accepted her as a compatible Master and told her to call her Lancer.
  • Scáthach explained that she had no wish for the Holy Grail but hoped the war might offer a chance to fulfill her deepest wish.
  • Scáthach told Bazett that her mission was to vanquish a goddess of beasts who should not exist in this Holy Grail War.

Ch. 247The Savior of France

Roland and Solomon discussed the modern era and the unusual Servants in the Tokyo Holy Grail War before Roland took Solomon to try strawberry cake. In Fuyuki, Caren Ortensia received a Command Spell and unexpectedly summoned Jeanne d'Arc as a Ruler, then began scolding her over Medea's summoning circle.

  • Solomon told Roland that he admired the modern world and could see only the immediate future, then identified several powerful Heroic Spirits and foretold that two remaining participants would be outside the usual seven classes.
  • Roland invited Solomon to try strawberry cake, and Solomon followed him despite his uncertainty about the food.
  • Caren wondered whether she could join the Holy Grail War, then discovered a Command Spell shaped like a black longsword on her hand.
  • Caren went to the summoning circle at Roland's residence, where it activated without an incantation and summoned Jeanne d'Arc as a Ruler.
  • Caren warned Jeanne not to damage Medea's treasured summoning circle, and Jeanne apologized nervously while Caren decided she was worth training.

Ch. 248The True Worth of the Three Golden Targets

Rin Tohsaka and Saber encountered Archer, who challenged Saber and overwhelmed her with powerful fire attacks. Though injured and badly outmatched, Saber refused to retreat and declared her intent to defeat him.

  • Rin Tohsaka accepted that her Saber was the female King Arthur, while Saber resolved to win the Holy Grail after recalling the losses of her previous war.
  • Saber sensed a powerful presence near Central Park, and Archer appeared above Rin and challenged Saber to a fight.
  • Rin left the battle to Saber, who charged Archer as he unleashed a storm of fiery arrows.
  • Saber cut through the arrows and reached Archer, but he answered with a massive torrent of flames that injured her and transformed the street around them.
  • Archer revealed that his flames came from Mana Burst and told Saber she had no chance of winning, but Saber declared that she intended to take his head.

Ch. 249Rin Tohsaka Dropped the Ball Again

Saber pushed through Archer’s flames and reached close range, but Archer’s Golden Armor turned her decisive strike aside and left her exposed. As Archer prepared to finish her, a crimson spear flew toward him, while Rin Tohsaka’s fight with Bazett was interrupted by Roland’s arrival.

  • Saber endured Archer’s barrage by relying on Instinct, then used Avalon to emerge unharmed from his concentrated Flame Arrow and charge him.
  • Archer revealed that his fully powered Golden Armor could absorb Saber’s attacks and exploit the disparity between their Masters, then knocked her back and readied another shot.
  • A crimson spear flew toward Archer as he prepared to strike Saber again.
  • Bazett shattered Rin Tohsaka’s jewel barriers, explained that her Servant had gone to fight Archer, and prepared to defeat Rin as another participant in the war.
  • Roland appeared on the shopping street, greeted Rin, and asked whether she had dropped the ball again.

Ch. 250Fragarach

Roland intervened when Bazett attacked Rin, and Rin secured his help by offering to work for him until she repaid her debt. Roland overwhelmed Bazett and defeated her Fragarach, then claimed her as his own, leaving her unconscious.

  • Rin asked Roland to save her from Bazett and offered her labor until she repaid everything she owed him.
  • Roland made a deal with Rin, but Bazett refused to withdraw and warned that she would treat him as an enemy if he joined the fight.
  • Bazett attacked Roland with her reinforced strength, but he shattered her arm and used martial arts to inflict severe injuries.
  • Bazett activated Fragarach, hoping its causality-reversing strike would kill Roland, but he overrode its priority and the Noble Phantasm pierced Bazett instead.
  • Roland healed Bazett, claimed her as his own, and watched her lose consciousness.

Ch. 251This woman knew a thing or two

After defeating Bazett, Roland healed Rin Tohsaka and brought her along to stop the Servants’ battle, while Scáthach and Karna faced Saber. Roland arrived above the battlefield and declared that the fighting would end, or every Servant there would die.

  • Roland defeated Bazett, reflected on her Noble Phantasm, and healed Rin Tohsaka’s broken arm with the Horse Talisman.
  • Rin Tohsaka realized the approaching battle could destroy much of Shinjuku, and Roland decided to intervene; he caught Rin in the shadows and made her accompany him.
  • Scáthach’s surprise Magic Spear wounded Karna and interrupted his duel with Saber, after which Scáthach and Karna prepared to fight both Saber and each other’s opponents.
  • Scáthach told Saber that her Master would lose to Scáthach’s Master, and Saber resolved to defeat Lancer quickly to protect Rin.
  • Roland descended onto the battlefield, identified himself as the victor of the previous Holy Grail War and Caster’s Master, and threatened to kill everyone if they did not stop fighting.
