Background / History
Family influence
Shi Long belongs to an influential family within the Martial King Manor. His father manages the distribution of cultivation resources, while his grandfather is a clan elder. According to his father, earlier victims avoided pursuing grievances even when Shi Long beat them half to death, out of regard for his grandfather’s authority 3 4.
His bullying also serves the manor’s factional struggle. The confrontation with Shi Qingyun is intended to suppress the younger generation of Shi Hao’s lineage and test the limits of the elders protecting them 4.
Confrontation with Shi Qingyun
Shi Long leads a group of children to block Shi Qingyun’s gate, seeking to provoke a fight and seize his cultivation resources. When taunts fail to unsettle Shi Qingyun, he challenges him to spar and invokes the ancestor’s support as a reason he should not refuse. Shi Qingyun accepts, evades Shi Long’s attempt to drag him away, and heads to the Dao Demonstration Platform himself 2.
Under an enforcement elder’s supervision, Shi Long opens with a powerful charge but repeatedly fails to land decisive blows. Shi Qingyun dodges his punches, kicks, and elbow strikes, then sends him flying when he demands a head-on exchange 3.
Unable to stand, Shi Long swallows an unidentified substance and returns to the fight with greatly increased strength and speed. His attacks become openly murderous. One blow shatters Shi Qingyun’s blood-colored defensive membrane, but Shi Qingyun catches the next punch and uses his Taiji technique to redirect Shi Long’s momentum into a two-palm strike against his chest 3 4.
The counterattack breaks bones and leaves Shi Long motionless after brief convulsions. The supervising elder immediately feeds him a medicinal pill and carries him away 4.
Aftermath and suspected retaliation
While Shi Long lies injured on a jade-like bed, his mother demands revenge. His father warns that escalating the dispute would give elders already dissatisfied with Shi Long’s conduct an opportunity to act against their family. His attempt to cut Shi Qingyun’s cultivation resources is subsequently stopped by the Martial King 4.
Shi Qingyun later interprets his inclusion in the Qilin Cave expedition as an attempt by Shi Long’s faction to lure him beyond his protectors’ reach. He also suspects that Rain Clan prodigy Yu Tian has been recruited against him because Shi Long’s mother appears to belong to that clan. These remain Shi Qingyun’s suspicions rather than confirmed actions by Shi Long 10 11.
Appearance
- Build: Taller than Shi Qingyun during their first confrontation, casting a shadow over him when standing close 2.
- Enhanced state: Bloodshot eyes, black aura, and creaking sounds throughout his body after ingesting the unidentified substance 3.
Personality
Shi Long combines intimidation with calculated politeness. He shifts from aggressive taunts to an affectionate elder-clan-brother act once Shi Qingyun accepts his challenge, ensuring that the surrounding children witness the agreement 2.
He enjoys public praise and initially treats victory as assured. When Shi Qingyun repeatedly forces him back, embarrassment turns into rage: he targets vital points, demands a direct clash, and eventually attacks with murderous intent despite the match being presented as sparring 3.
