Background / History

Rain Clan Assignment

Yu Tian belongs to a branch family of the Rain Clan, which limits the treasures available to him despite his reputation as a prodigy. His family instructed him to establish a good relationship with Shi Yi and also sent him into the secret realm to find an opportunity to kill Shi Qingyun 21 22.

He first appears beside Shi Yi before the Qilin Cave expedition. Shi Yan identifies him to the other juniors as a Rain Clan prodigy. Because Shi Long’s mother is connected to the Rain Clan, Shi Qingyun suspects that Yu Tian’s participation is part of a plot against him 11.

Rescue by Shi Qingyun

After entering the Qilin Secret Realm, Yu Tian uses a treasure supplied by the Rain King Mansion to locate Shi Yi. He stays with him until Shi Yi’s confrontation with the Primordial Divine Mountain forces separates them. Their enemies subsequently target Yu Tian, believing that capturing an apparent follower could help them deal with Shi Yi 22.

When Shi Qingyun arrives during the attack, Yu Tian briefly considers using him as a distraction to escape and fulfill his assassination assignment. He rejects the idea as repaying kindness with enmity, warns Shi Qingyun to flee, and prepares the Rain Clan’s Nine Heavens of the Rain Path at considerable physical cost 21.

Shi Qingyun freezes the attackers and their techniques before Yu Tian can strike. Unable to cancel his own technique, Yu Tian releases it into the ground instead. The effortless defeat of several Cave Heaven cultivators overturns his understanding of Shi Qingyun’s strength 21.

Starfall Mountain Range

After receiving restorative medicine, Yu Tian tells Shi Qingyun about the enemy plan to ambush Shi Yi in the Starfall Mountain Range. Wanting to find Shi Yi himself, he insists on accompanying Shi Qingyun despite suggestions that he remain outside 22.

The journey repeatedly exposes the gap between their abilities. Yu Tian exhausts himself trying to keep pace and panics when Shi Qingyun carries him down a sheer cliff. Inside the range, the unexplained disappearance of flesh from beast remains leaves him increasingly dependent on Shi Qingyun for security 22 23.

When a beast tide approaches, Yu Tian initially flees without warning his companion. Shi Qingyun catches up, and the two fight together until Shi Qingyun clears an escape route. They subsequently enter the range’s hidden core 23 24.

Despite being told to stay behind, Yu Tian joins the battle against the beasts, unwilling to accept being treated as helpless. He continues fighting as the defenders approach exhaustion, until Shi Qingyun returns with the Beast King’s severed head and drives the horde away 25 27.

Withdrawal and Realm Instability

After the battle, Yu Tian openly praises Shi Qingyun as Shi Yi’s equal. While tending his injuries, he learns that Shi Qingyun intends to explore the deeper forbidden area alone and sends him and the Martial King Manor youths out with Jin Wanwan’s party 28.

Yu Tian later survives the destructive storm caused by three powerful beasts attacking the realm’s barrier. He watches the devastation with growing concern for Shi Qingyun, then sees the emergency entrance open and the clan elders waiting outside 31.

Appearance

  • Wears blue robes at his introduction 11.
  • Has an honest-looking face, which Shi Qingyun contrasts with his sudden flight from danger 23.

Personality

Yu Tian has a moral boundary that conflicts with his family’s assignment. Although he considers sacrificing Shi Qingyun to escape, he cannot accept betraying someone he believes has come to rescue him. He instead prepares to fight to the death while urging Shi Qingyun to leave 21.

His pride as a prodigy coexists with pronounced fear under pressure. He conceals the limitations of his branch-family background, makes bold promises of support, and resents being underestimated; nevertheless, he panics during the cliff descent and flees instinctively when the beast tide arrives 22 23 25.

His attitude toward Shi Qingyun develops from hostility and apprehension into trust. After traveling together, he finds Shi Qingyun approachable rather than domineering. By the later battlefield encounter, he trusts him completely and publicly acknowledges his strength 23 27 28.
