Power Progression

The following progression belongs to Ye Qing’s female companion, not the separate Light Spirits hunted for Soul Rings.

Biology and Habitat

Light Spirits are elemental Soul Beasts comparable in essence to the Heavenly Snow Woman. Unlike that unique, nature-born being, they can pair up and reproduce; the narration associates this reproductive capacity with lower individual potential 26.

• Habitat: Heavenly Dawn Peak’s unobstructed sunlight and moonlight allow them to absorb radiance continuously 25.
• Distribution: Stronger spirits occupy the better-lit areas near the summit; weaker spirits live farther down the mountain 26.
• Concealment: Their unusual forms let them hide in rock crevices, making even a known habitat difficult to search 26 30.
• Mating: Once they choose a mate, they do not choose another—even after that mate dies. This limits population growth despite their ability to reproduce 26.
• Age identification: Below one hundred thousand years, appearance and size provide no reliable age distinction. Powerful individuals can change size, so age must be estimated from Soul Power fluctuations 26.
• Reported elder: Mu En believed a hundred-thousand-year Light Spirit lived on Heavenly Dawn Peak, but failed to locate it when seeking his seventh Soul Ring 26.

Appearance

• The first encountered male has an upright, winding spiral-like body, three pairs of aurora-like light wings, a strange ring of light beneath the wings, and abstract orange eyes 26.

• Although incorporeal, the female companion feels smooth and soft, like silk, when she presses against Ye Qing’s palm 30.

Light-Element Affinity

Light Spirits are effectively tangible light elements, with exceptionally high affinity for their attribute 28.

• Their Soul Power reserves are roughly two to three times those of other Soul Beasts of the same age 28.
• Their Soul Rings and Soul Bones can greatly strengthen a compatible Soul Master’s light attribute 21 22.
• Male spirits can fire barrages of light beams; the young male encountered by Ye Qing attacks immediately upon meeting him 26 27.

Transformation into Light

Light Spirits can turn into streaks of light and flee at tremendous speed 27.

• The first male escapes after discovering that it cannot penetrate Ye Qing’s shield 27.
• Ye Feng states that preventing this escape requires forcible restraint through overwhelming Soul Power 27.
• This ability becomes Ye Qing’s second Soul Skill, Holy Light Shuttle. His version consumes one percent of his Soul Power per second and moves extraordinarily fast, though not at the literal speed of light 31.

Elemental Durability

Their incorporeal bodies make ordinary physical combat poorly suited to fighting them 27.

• Ye Qing infuses his fists with Soul Power to hurt the young male; he judges that unenhanced punches would probably pass through it 27.
• To secure a Soul Ring, a much stronger expert must wear down the spirit’s energy until the intended recipient can personally deliver the killing blow 27.
• Darkness-attribute Soul Power is particularly effective at eroding their light-attribute energy 27 28.

Soul Bone Enhancement

Ye Qing’s female companion can inhabit his Light-Breaking Right Arm Bone and enable it to grow stronger 30.

• She and the Soul Bone absorb part of the Soul Power circulating through his right arm 30.
• The bone’s growth stops when she leaves it 30.
• This permits the age of an otherwise non-growing conventional Soul Bone to increase 30.
• Her ongoing consumption of Soul Power contributes to Ye Qing’s slower cultivation 33 35.

Energy Refinement and Mental Connection

The female companion establishes a mental connection with Ye Qing through his right-arm Soul Bone 30.

• She communicates through a hazy consciousness and responds immediately when he calls her out 30.
• During his third Soul Ring absorption, she and the Light-Breaking Soul Bone use ultimate light to cleanse violent energy, retaining a portion before returning the remainder to his meridians 37.
• Absorbing Ye Qing’s Soul Power reinforces her attachment under Light of the Holy Hall 30 31.

Background / History

Mu En’s Earlier Hunt

Mu En obtained his sixth Soul Ring and the seventy-thousand-year Light-Breaking Right Arm Bone from a male Light Spirit. Its Soul Ring also enabled him to develop Radiant Sacred Dragon Combat Technique: Dragon Emperor Domain-Shaking Realm. Three Titled Douluos took turns weakening the spirit before Mu En could kill it 21 26 27.

Ye Qing’s Second Soul Ring

After researching light-attribute Soul Beasts, Ye Qing selected a Light Spirit for his second Soul Ring. Mu En supplied a map of their habitat, allowing Ye Qing and Ye Feng to search Heavenly Dawn Peak 21 23.

Their first encounter was with a hot-tempered male no more than five hundred years old, which fled during Ye Qing’s sparring attempt. They later found a 6,800-year spirit—older than Mu En’s recommended limit—but Ye Qing insisted on attempting the absorption. Ye Feng eroded its power, and Ye Qing killed it with a Soul-Power-infused punch 26 27 28.

The spirit produced a purple Soul Ring and a left-leg Soul Bone, which Ye Qing gave to Ye Feng. With assistance from his existing Light-Breaking Right Arm Bone, the ring pushed Ye Qing’s light attribute into ultimate light, awakened Light of the Holy Hall, and helped bring him to level twenty-five 28 29.

The Female Companion

Shortly afterward, a timid female emerged from a rock crevice. Ye Qing’s pure light aura and Light of the Holy Hall drew her to him despite her fear of Ye Feng. Once Ye Feng stepped away, she approached Ye Qing and made a home inside his right-arm Soul Bone 30.

Ye Feng warned that a Soul Beast might eventually resent a Soul Master who hunted its kind. Ye Qing trusted their bond: her daily absorption of his Soul Power continually strengthened her attachment, provided he did not abuse or torment her 31.

She later helped refine the Dark Gold Terrorclaw Bear’s Soul Ring and advanced to the thousand-year tier from her share of its energy 37 39.

Relationships

• Ye Qing — The female companion’s host and partner. She shows affection, obeys his summons, and helps strengthen his Soul Bone 30 31.
• Ye Feng — The female companion initially fears his strength. He identifies her approximate age and cautions Ye Qing against assuming permanent Soul Beast loyalty 30 31.
• Mu En — Previously hunted a seventy-thousand-year male and later guided Ye Qing toward the species as a Soul Ring source 21 23 26.

• Ye Qing compares the first male’s appearance to Puni from Seer, noting its lack of seven rune-bearing sealing stones and its more realistic appearance 26.
