Personality

Mu En is affectionate toward his descendants and generous toward promising students. He worries that Bei Bei’s isolation after losing his parents will damage both his emotional development and his future cultivation. Recognizing that an elder cannot replace a same-age friend, he introduces Bei Bei to Ye Qing and is relieved when the boy becomes happier 3 4.

His attachment to family can challenge his fairness. When Zhang Lexuan offers anything in exchange for revenge, he briefly considers making her Bei Bei’s child bride. He rejects the idea, acknowledging that killing Evil Soul Masters is already his duty, and later insists that her life belongs to herself rather than to him 6.

Mu En’s generosity also serves his long-term plans for Shrek. He seeks to make Ye Qing both a future protector and someone closely connected to the academy through shared support. Ye Qing appreciates his kindness but recognizes this effort to secure his loyalty 21 22 25.

He values respect without demanding excessive submission. Ye Qing’s apprenticeship requires tea and a bow, not kowtowing. History

Ye Qing’s Recovery and Bei Bei’s Childhood

Mu En diagnoses Ye Qing with a congenitally incomplete soul and recommends exposure to the Golden Tree’s light. The child’s eventual recovery surprises him, since he had been certain of his original diagnosis. Over the following years, he spends time fishing with Ye Qing and Ye Feng and supplies Golden Tree tea leaves 1 2 11.

He subsequently brings Bei Bei to meet Ye Qing. Their friendship gives Bei Bei the companionship Mu En has been unable to provide himself, easing his concern over the boy’s withdrawn temperament 3 4.

Tianyue City and Zhang Lexuan

After receiving Demon Wolf’s whereabouts, Mu En travels to Tianyue City seeking revenge for the deaths of the children’s parents. He arrives after the destruction of the Zhang Family estate, restrains Demon Wolf, and discovers Zhang Lexuan alive beneath the ruins 3 5 6.

Mu En kills Demon Wolf without imposing any obligation on the girl. He allows her to grieve, then offers her a home at Shrek. During their return, he discovers her exceptional talent and dismisses his uncertainty about possible Sun Moon Imperial Family ancestry as irrelevant to her new place in the academy 6 7.

Preparing Shrek’s Future Protector

After Ye Qing awakens his martial soul with innate full soul power, Mu En accepts him as a disciple. He gives him the Light-Breaking Demon soul bone and begins preparing a cultivation path intended to produce a ten-thousand-year third soul ring 11 12 21.

With his own lifespan running short, Mu En identifies Ye Qing as Shrek’s best long-term prospect. He convenes the Sea God Pavilion, secures treasures from its elders, and wins unanimous approval for early access to the Fear Demon Dragon chamber. The support is deliberately offered in Shrek’s name to deepen Ye Qing’s ties to the academy 21 23 24 25.

Ye Qing’s acquisition of ultimate light allows Mu En to witness the attribute he had pursued unsuccessfully. He then oversees further conditioning and spiritual-power training, delaying use of the dragon chamber until Ye Qing can safely endure its pressure 23 32 33 35.

Despite his worsening health, Mu En personally captures a twenty-thousand-year Dark Gold Terrorclaw Bear for Ye Qing’s third ring. After the successful absorption, he teaches Ye Qing Shrek’s ultimate-attribute cultivation method and leaves further training largely to the boy until Inner Court entry 36 37 38 40.

Later, he intervenes when Ye Qing and Bei Bei’s spar threatens the grounds near the Pavilion. He declares a draw and directs them to use the Soul Fighting Arena for future matches 44 45.
