Background / History

Family Losses and Ye Qing’s Recovery

Ye Feng lost his son, then his grandson, who died fighting Evil Soul Masters during a Shrek Inspection Corps mission. His great-grandson Ye Qing became the last surviving descendant of his family line and his only remaining relative. Ye Qing’s parents were killed on the same mission as Bei Bei’s parents, by the same Soul Douluo Evil Soul Master 1 3.

After Mu En diagnosed Ye Qing with a congenitally incomplete soul, Ye Feng sought help at the Golden Tree. In recognition of his longstanding service to Shrek, Mu En allowed the child to remain near its healing radiance. When Ye Feng returned from academy business and found Ye Qing behaving normally, he tearfully credited Lord Sea God with a miracle 1.

Ye Feng continued using valuable resources to strengthen Ye Qing’s body before his martial soul awakening. He also recognized the Golden Tree leaves Mu En had supplied for the boy’s tea 3 9.

Martial Soul Awakening and Apprenticeship

Ye Feng personally conducted Ye Qing’s awakening ceremony. Seeing a winged white tiger with golden eyes, he identified it as the Radiant Sacred Tiger and was astonished that his Shadow Tiger lineage could produce such a powerful martial soul 9.

The awakening gave him hope that the Ye Family could rise beyond his own limitations. After confirming Ye Qing’s innate full soul power, he enthusiastically encouraged the boy to accept Mu En’s offer of discipleship 10 11.

While Mu En took responsibility for advanced instruction, Ye Feng taught the foundational material supplied after the apprenticeship ceremony. He guided Ye Qing through Shrek’s advanced meditation method and assessed his first cultivation session to plan suitable training and resources 12 13.

Soul Hunting and Continued Training

Ye Feng supervised Ye Qing’s first two soul hunts and much of his early conditioning. His involvement combined direct protection, resource preparation, and carefully selected opportunities for practical combat 14 15 27 28.

Appearance

Personality

Ye Feng is deeply attached to Ye Qing, whose survival represents both his remaining family and the continuation of the Ye lineage. He cries with joy at the child’s recovery and again at the discovery of innate full soul power. Even Ye Qing’s shift toward a quieter personality alarms him, making him fear another collapse of the boy’s soul 1 9 11.

His pride does not override his concern for safety. Although he privately considers Ye Qing capable of reaching the highest ranks, he avoids publicizing that potential before the boy matures. He initially refuses the 6,800-year second ring because the possible benefit cannot justify losing his great-grandson 14 23 27 28.

He is strongly loyal to Shrek and recognizes how its resources enabled his own cultivation. He eagerly welcomes Ye Qing’s closer connection to Mu En, though his expectations of formal respect are stricter than Mu En’s: he is dissatisfied with the simplicity of the apprenticeship ceremony but does not object in front of the Pavilion Master 10 11 12.
