Transmigration and Recovery

Ye Qing wins a “revival match” and selects the Dark Demon Evil God Tiger as his reward, expecting to arrive in the Douluo I era. Instead, he enters the later era as a child from Shrek Academy's Ye family. The original child's congenitally incomplete soul had prevented normal speech and movement; merging with that soul restores him without constituting body possession 1.

His great-grandfather, Ye Feng, is his only surviving relative. Ye Feng's son had died, and Ye Qing's parents were killed during a Shrek Inspection Corps mission. Mu En had permitted the impaired child to remain near the Golden Tree in hopes that its radiance would help his soul recover. Ye Feng interprets the sudden recovery as a miracle from the Sea God 1 3.

Ye Qing spends a year learning the local language and another year and a half studying the Douluo Enlightenment Record. With no cultivation available before awakening, he turns to fishing at Sea God Lake 2.

Life on Sea God Island

Mu En initially joins Ye Qing's fishing sessions to investigate his unexpected recovery, then comes to enjoy fishing himself. Ye Qing recognizes him from his wheelchair and deliberately cultivates a relationship with Shrek's strongest protector. Mu En's gifts of Golden Tree tea strengthen Ye Qing's constitution, while prolonged exposure to the tree changes his body and soul toward light 2 3.

Mu En introduces him to Bei Bei, whose parents died on the same mission as Ye Qing's. Their games help draw Bei Bei out of his withdrawn state. Ye Qing later spends less time with him when Zhang Lexuan becomes his constant caretaker and Bei Bei begins cultivating 3 4 8 9.

After Ye Qing awakens his martial soul, Mu En accepts him as a disciple. Ye Feng builds his physical foundation through expensive soul-beast meals, gravity training, swimming, and combat drills. Mu En subsequently secures treasures and special training access from the Sea God Pavilion elders, positioning Ye Qing as a potential future leader 11 14 23 25.

Independent Cultivation Research

After reaching Soul Elder, Ye Qing learns Mu En's method for cultivating ultimate attributes but continues seeking a faster approach. He studies multiple meditation manuals, using their different routes to locate and develop unused meridians. Early experiments repeatedly rupture meridians and fail to establish additional Soul Power circuits; his healing abilities allow him to continue 39 40 41 42.

He also plans to attract Electrolux through his martial soul's sacred–evil duality when Huo Yuhao encounters the Sky Dream Ice Silkworm. This remains a future plan rather than an acquired power 41.

Outer Court Enrollment

Although reluctant to leave the Golden Tree's cultivation advantages, Ye Qing accepts Outer Court enrollment because distance from Sea God Island's elders will let him experiment more discreetly. Mu En permits him and Bei Bei to enroll early because both are already Soul Elders 45.

An Inner Court recommendation earns him favorable treatment during registration and a place in Room 234, which he shares with Bei Bei. He also recognizes the Outer Court as a starting point for building the connections and reputation expected of a future Shrek leader 47 48 49.

After meeting Tang Ya, Ye Qing detects an unusual attraction around her and suspects Tang San's interference. He keeps his distance, refuses her invitation to join the Tang Sect, and nevertheless gives Bei Bei a discreet assist in pursuing her 46 47 50.

Appearance

Ye Qing initially has black hair and a delicate, approachable appearance. His awakening makes him taller and more muscular, replacing much of his childish softness with the sharp, dominant bearing of a tiger-type Soul Master 1 10.

Personality

Ye Qing is outwardly friendly and often smiles gently, but his internal commentary is sarcastic, irreverent, and sharply critical of institutions he distrusts. Returning to childhood revives his enthusiasm for play and showing off, though prolonged solitude later makes his smile more formal and restrained 4 9.

He is pragmatic about patronage: Mu En's protection and resources are valuable, but he will not sacrifice his comfort or independence merely to maintain access to them. He avoids unnecessary danger and values his regained life, yet accepts calculated risks when he believes his preparation and healing abilities can support them 2 5 8 27 41.

His gratitude toward Shrek does not amount to unquestioning loyalty. He recognizes how much its backing has enabled his growth while remaining wary of ideological pressure. Rather than become a devoted follower of the academy as it stands, he hopes eventually to reshape it 22 34 37.
