"Messenger"
Lorry agreed without hesitation:
"You say."
"It's still uncertain, we'll see how it goes in a while," Vera casually changed the subject. "Oh, by the way, I have some good news for you."
He paused, then smiled and said:
"Altair is no longer with Backlund."
"The news has been confirmed by one of our Deputy Director and senior officials from the Three Great Churches, so it should be accurate. You can breathe a sigh of relief."
"At least until Advancement to Sequence 6, don't go looking for your own death."
"This guy is extremely dangerous— the Deputy Director and his team suspect that Altair may have received a new blessing during that ritual."
"Have they already escaped?" Lorry nodded slightly, a hint of regret in his voice.
But he quickly felt relieved.
That's fine too.
My own strength is still too weak. Even with the "Curse of Knowledge," I am no match for Altair, whose abilities are bizarre and whose level is at least Sequence 6.
Otherwise, he wouldn't have needed to hide in the Face Mask Factory for a while.
Vera glanced at the Informant expression was unpredictable, and chuckled softly:
What, you're not satisfied?
I remember you once advised me, "Only by living can you realize your greater value," and now I'm returning that advice to you.
Lorry exhaled slowly and nodded:
"I see.
"Distance won't make me give up my hatred; instead, it will become my motivation to advance my Sequence as quickly as possible, until one day I personally send him to hell."
"It's good that you're keeping your head up." Vera shrugged, then suddenly asked, "By the way, is the price for using that old guy paid off yet?"
Lorry's eyes flickered. "Still a little short..."
"Really?" Vera leaned back against the soft Sofa Cushion and smiled playfully. "Then give it to me, and I'll pay the rest of the price for you."
"..." Lorry chuckled dryly.
"What I was actually going to say was that we still have some opportunities left to use."
"Lieutenant Colonel, could you...?"
Vera exclaimed "Oh?", her eyes suddenly lighting up. "That's even better! Consider them as interest on the Sealed Artifact I borrowed from you."
Having said that, he stretched out his right hand, seemingly not having heard the rest of his sentence at all.
Lorry's lips twitched slightly as he tenderly removed the White Bone Ring.
He understood the principle; he knew the "Curse of Knowledge" applied to Lieutenant Colonel. But the problem was that this Sealed Artifact was so useful that it was inevitable he would feel reluctant to part with it.
At this moment, the White Bone Ring said with a disdainful tone:
"What are you doing, kid?"
"Why would you give me back to that cunning Vera kid for no reason?"
Vera chuckled, "Old man, haven't you forgotten something? It seems I'm your true master, aren't I?"
"Have you forgotten who went through all that trouble to save you?"
Seemingly having its weakness exposed, the White Bone Ring immediately shut its mouth sheepishly, its miniature features displaying a reluctant expression, and turned back to give a word of advice:
"Kid, you've pretty much mastered the basics of ancient languages. You can learn the rest on your own. Don't slack off when you're alone."
"Also, that Ritual Magic from the other day, you were actually just one step away from success. You can find the solution yourself by looking it up in the book."
"Don't worry, I understand." Lorry nodded.
"I don't need anyone to urge me; I'll do these things myself. Once you've mastered the knowledge, it's yours to keep, and you never know when it might come in handy."
"Hmm." The White Bone Ring showed a relieved expression, then turned to glance at the Lieutenant Colonel, its look of disdain seeming to say, "Look at him."
It sighed and reluctantly transformed into a streak of white light and flew away.
Vera said irritably:
"You're quite clever, aren't you? You know how to please the old man."
Lorry raised his head blankly:
"What do you mean by pleasing the Old Gentleman? Lieutenant Colonel, what are you talking about? I don't understand a word of it. I learned all this on my own initiative."
"Knowledge is power, Lieutenant Colonel, don't you know that saying?"
Upon hearing this, Vera's expression stiffened, as if recalling some unpleasant memory. Her face darkened, and she began waving her hands to shoo him away.
"Let's go, let's go. We're not on the same page anymore. Don't come here as often as possible, it's inconvenient, understand? If you need anything, contact me using the same method as before."
"You don't need to take the Beyonder Characteristic; I'll have someone deliver them directly to the Factory."
"And stop calling Lieutenant Colonel Lieutenant Colonel all the time. Don't you know I've been promoted for ages? Get out of here, I don't want to see you these next few days."
Lorry stood up, nodded, and said:
"Yes, Lieutenant Colonel."
Before he could finish speaking, Sofa Cushion flew over. He quickly turned around, displaying the agility of a "Marauder," and darted towards the door with nimble steps.
Click, the door slammed shut.
Vera slowly walked over, picked up the Cushion, and said with a sullen laugh:
"That damn brat..."
Lorry's withdrawal symptoms were more severe than he had imagined.
Over this period of time, he had gotten into the habit of chatting with "the Curse of Knowledge" whenever he had a spare moment, and the sudden lack of response inevitably made him feel uncomfortable.
Furthermore, having lost both the "Curse of Knowledge" and the "Warrior's Glory," Lorry found his life suddenly empty.
Although I still study ancient languages and practice fighting skills every day, the frequency has decreased and the efficiency is far less than before.
What surprised him most was Albert.
Knowing that the "Curse of Knowledge" hadn't returned, Indulgence excitedly for two days, but quickly returned to its original rhythm.
Eating, sleeping, patrolling the "territory" morning and evening, and reading in a corner.
This made Lorry feel ashamed. With the thought that "I can't be outdone by my own dog," he gradually regained his previous busy state.
Given the current less-than-ideal economic situation, he began to conceive of a new book.
The third episode, "The Great Detective Sherlock," was a relatively important part of Lorry's plan, with earning royalties being just one of the reasons.
Another purpose was that he intended to take the opportunity to emphasize the dangers of air pollution in the book, raising everyone's environmental and health awareness.
Since the two worldviews have commonalities, it's not difficult to learn from each other.
So, after some revisions, Detective Sherlock's main mission in the third episode became investigating a corrupt Factory owner who caused serious pollution and colluded with officials to escape legal punishment. In the end, he successfully brought the bad guys to justice and restored a sky where everyone could see white clouds and the Star.
Such rewriting was quite labor-intensive, so much so that several days later, the third episode of "Great Detective Sherlock" was only half completed.
However, Lorry was not in a hurry. After learning the Ritual Magic called "Flesh and Blood Substitute," he did not use the free time to write.
He began to study the Incantation to summon the "Messenger" by referring to the Original Novel text.
This is because the number of Lorry's Sealed Artifact is constantly increasing, and it is impractical to carry them all on his person, while leaving them at the Face Mask Factory is inconvenient for use.
He desired a "Messenger" capable of storing extraordinary items and materials, of moderate speed, and able to deliver messages.
With this in mind, in the evening, when Albert went out to patrol the area, Lorry locked the office door and began his experiment.
