Fleecing the Goddess
In the Original Novel, Azik introduced two methods to Klein.
Lorry has lost the "Curse of Knowledge," making it impossible for him to roam the Spirit World in search of suitable creatures, but he can still attempt to summon them through rituals.
The Incantation's format comes from Azik, the "Death Archon," which essentially eliminates any danger; the worst outcome would be nothing more than a wasted effort.
Following his memory, Lorry prepared the ritual to summon the Spirit World Creature, then lit the candle that symbolized himself and began his first attempt.
He took a deep breath and whispered in Ancient Hermes:
"I!
I summon in my name:
"A spirit that roams the upper realms, a friendly creature that can be commanded, a swift being capable of storing items."
Ugh!
A cold wind picked up, and the atmosphere suddenly turned eerie.
Lorry saw a phantom creature appear before him that looked exactly like a treasure chest from a novel, but had Distortion facial features.
It raised its eyes, as if asking a question.
"..." Lorry looked at the other's palm-sized body and asked in Ancient Hermes, unwilling to give up, "Can you store it?"
He felt the Spirit World Creature were bizarre and fantastical; perhaps they could change size at will, and he worried about missing out on a suitable "Messenger."
But Lorry was soon disappointed.
He saw the "Treasure Chest Monster" glance at the vase and begin to shake its body.
This means "I can't"... Lorry sighed silently, abandoning his previous wishful thinking, and expressed his apology in Ancient Hermes.
He interrupted the ceremony, and the "Treasure Chest Monster" vanished quickly and transparently.
"The uncertainty of ritual summoning is still too great, but there doesn't seem to be a better way. We can only figure it out slowly." Lorry muttered to himself, his eyes flashing.
He rested for a few minutes and then tried again.
The Incantation remains the same, mainly because Lorry needs to balance the functions of "storage" and "message delivery," and couldn't think of a more suitable description for the time being.
A moment later, he saw a huge creature.
The creature resembled a dog, lying on the ground nearly three meters tall, its body engulfed in Burning blue Flames, and its stark white bones covered in frost.
This seems plausible... Lorry asked in Ancient Hermes, "What's the maximum amount of stuff you can store?"
The Bone Creature glanced down at the summoner, then looked at the desk.
Lorry's heart stirred, and he asked again:
How's your speed?
The Bone Creature lowered its body and charged towards the rest room on the other side.
Seeing a blur flash past him, Lorry's eyes lit up, and the thought of signing a contract with the other party arose.
At this moment, the Bone Creature opened its mouth and transmitted a thought:
"I have a very strong digestive system, and it's rare for anything to last more than three days in my stomach. Do you mind that?"
Lorry's smile froze instantly.
Of course I mind!
He thought to himself irritably, and quickly interrupted the ritual to send the other party back to the Spirit World.
Over the next half hour, Lorry made several more attempts, even slightly altering the description in the third paragraph, but all of them ended in failure.
With his Spirituality having only one last chance, he chose to give up resisting and simply copied the Incantation that Klein had used to successfully summon him.
"I!
I summon in my name:
"A spirit wandering in illusion, a benevolent being at my beck and call, a unique being willing to be my Messenger."
Call!
The candle instantly Burning flames, emitting a light as deep as the Evernight.
A beautiful woman with a good figure, wearing a black Cleric's Robe, blonde hair and blue eyes, stepped out barefoot, her expression calm, giving people an immediate sense of tranquility and peace.
She looked Lorry up and down:
"I sense the aura of Goddess in you; are you Believer of Her?"
This Spirit World Creature can actually speak Hermes and communicate normally with its summoner, and it even calls itself Goddess? Lorry suppressed his surprise and nodded gently.
As for the Goddess aura the other party mentioned.
He recalled the "Parasite" ring, imbued with "Concealment" power.
The beautiful woman's expression instantly turned pious, and she traced Crimson Moon on her chest. "What do you want from me?"
Lorry's heart skipped a beat, and he quickly stated his needs, cautiously asking if the other party could meet his conditions.
"It's very simple," the beautiful woman said calmly. "My home in the Spirit World is large enough to store as much as you want."
As for delivering the message...
She took a barefoot step forward and instantly appeared at the other end of the office.
The beautiful woman glanced back at Lorry, then took a step back. "You want to sign a contract with me, to have me help store things and deliver messages, right?"
Lorry nodded vigorously, his eyes filled with anticipation:
"Right."
The beautiful woman nodded slightly and said:
"Can.
"But as a condition, after each time you ask me to help, you need to pray to the Goddess in my name, either in Church or your own Prayer Room."
With no reason to refuse such a simple request, Lorry readily agreed and took out the contract designed according to the Original Novel.
He glanced at the beautiful woman, quickly replaced the parchment with another piece, changing the witnessing God from "Death" to "Evernight Goddess".
Then, sign your Real Name at the end.
The pretty lady waved, and the parchment floated slowly over, as if supported by a table below, hovering at a convenient height for writing.
She stretched out her fair right hand and forced out a drop of crimson liquid.
Clatter
Blood surged rapidly, slowly transforming into words:
"The Exiled."
The Exiled? Lorry muttered to himself, wondering if the other party's use of a name that resembled a nickname would actually establish a contract.
The beautiful woman tilted her head to look at Lorry, seemingly sensing his doubt, and said calmly, "I am not worthy of a name until I receive His forgiveness."
The words had barely left his mouth.
Lorry then realized he had been overthinking things.
The dark Flames Burning, quickly igniting the parchment.
The beautiful woman watched the firelight quietly until the contract turned to ashes. Her deep gaze flickered slightly, revealing a faint glimmer of hope.
She gently closed her eyes, sketching Crimson Moon on her chest.
So many years have passed...
I finally saw hope of returning...
A moment later, Lorry finished the ceremony, saw off his "Messenger" lady, and lay down on the Long Sofa to recall everything that had just happened.
Believer of the Goddess... The Exiled due to certain Error, hoping for forgiveness... She came seeking a "Concealment" power...
Perhaps if I study the Goddess's Holy Bible carefully, I can find out her true identity... He stared at the Ceiling, thinking silently.
Suddenly, Lorry remembered something and couldn't help but smile.
In a sense, was I taking advantage of the Goddess by being able to sign the contract with the "Messenger" so smoothly this time?
With that thought in mind, he quickly and devoutly began to sketch the Crimson Moon.
Praise the Goddess!
at the same time.
Vera nodded slightly to the few colleagues who were walking towards her, stepped aside to let them pass, and then walked along the long corridor to the end, heading straight for the door.
The revival of Romeo and Juliet was a great success, and the theater organized a celebration party, which Beyoncé, a minor actress, couldn't refuse.
Therefore, he no longer needed to rush there by carriage, but instead chose to stroll home as before, checking several contact points along the way.
