Old Sha did not stop Su Ping from entering the potion workshop.
Before Su Anyong left, he had told Old Sha that from now on, this young master would have the final say at Woodheart's Pet Beast Breeding Base.
Having watched Su Ping grow up, the old wolf was already the elder who doted on him most.
The potion workshop was arguably the cleanest place on the entire Manor. Its white walls, floor, and ceiling were spotless.
Only the smell of disinfectant in the air made him frown a little. Xiao Qing, perched on his shoulder and tugging at his collar, sneezed several times in succession after being irritated by the smell.
Su Ping rubbed Xiao Qing to soothe the little one's discomfort, then finally placed Xiao Qing inside his Beast Taming Space.
Inside a Beast Taming Space, a Beast Tamer's Mental Strength soothed their pet beasts, keeping them comfortable at all times while also accelerating their energy recovery and healing.
Xiao Qing was still a little too young, after all.
After fiddling with some instruments he had seen and studied at school but never used in practice, Su Ping opened the cold storage room with practiced ease.
Sure enough, the ingredients for the Woodheart Potion were there. Unreliable as his dad was, he had definitely tried making it himself many times over the years, so some ingredients remained in cold storage.
That made things much easier.
Su Ping's eyes lit up. Then, under Old Sha's bewildered gaze, he dashed out of the potion workshop and patted the old wolf.
"Old Sha, there's Wolf Smoke Grass growing by the Spirit Creek River behind our base, right?"
Old Sha nodded, then watched his young master jog straight toward the Spirit Creek River behind the base.
Without daring to dwell on it, Old Sha hurried after him.
How had this little troublemaker only just come home and already started giving a wolf so much to worry about?
Wolf Smoke Grass?
Didn't that stuff stink even worse than the Wolf Dung those little fellows left in the woods?
Old Sha was much faster than Su Ping.
While Su Ping had been attending school in Linzhou City, he had been the undisputed best in his year at meditation classes, perhaps because he had lived two lives.
After awakening his Beast Taming Space and talent, he was already an ordinary fourth-rank Beast Tamer. But his speed still fell far short of Old Sha's, who had reached the commander tier.
Seeing Old Sha catch up, Su Ping grabbed his mane with practiced ease and swung himself onto his back.
Their breeding base was sizable. Crossing the entire property to reach the bank of the Spirit Creek River was still quite a journey.
"Awooo..."
With the young master he had watched grow up riding on his back again, Old Sha grew immensely excited and let out a ringing howl.
The sudden wolf howl was remarkably loud and piercing in these suburban outskirts.
As though they had sensed the Wolf King's howl, the others stirred.
At once, howls rose one after another from the vast woods within the base, as though answering him.
Clearly, although this was the outskirts, and although the Wood Heart Pet Beast Breeding Base occupied an enormous area, there were still people living nearby.
Not far from the base stood another enormous Manor.
A huge sign also stood above the main entrance to the Manor:
"Cloudsky Pet Beast Battle Resort"
Compared with the Wood Heart Pet Beast Breeding Base, however, the grounds of this resort Manor were far nicer.
Not only were they adorned with a distinctly beautiful garden, but they were also exquisitely maintained.
A row of small villas and an eight-story building also stood within the Manor.
On the top floor of the central building, in a huge living room spanning two floors, a graceful figure stood before the window.
She looked to be around thirty. Her ordinary loungewear did nothing to conceal the devastating allure and appeal of a woman in her prime.
At the moment, however, this woman, whose looks and figure were both exceptional, had a slight furrow between her brows as she gazed into the distance with displeasure.
The piercing wolf howls drew her gaze across the distance. From her elevated vantage point, she looked down at the rushing Spirit Creek River several miles away, and at the Wood Heart Pet Beast Breeding Base hidden beneath the trees.
She also saw the figure riding a wolf toward the riverbank.
Finally, she spoke.
"That's the young owner of the breeding base? Our little landlord?"
A man stood a short distance behind her, his manner cautious and deferential.
Had Su Ping been here, he would certainly have recognized this timid man as the rich fool who had rented a large stretch of their vacant land.
He was also the man who had built a pet beast training ground and resort in this location, something both Su Ping and his dad considered rather idiotic.
Yet now, facing the woman standing imperiously before the window, he did not dare so much as step a little closer, let alone steal a glance at her shapely figure from behind.
At her question, he wiped the sweat from his forehead before replying.
"Yes, Chairwoman."
The woman turned and glanced at him.
"It's been two years, and you still haven't made the slightest progress on the task I gave you. How do you have the nerve to stand before me?"
Faced with her rebuke, the man did not dare offer even the slightest defense. He could only lower his head further.
Seeing her subordinate's spineless display, however, the woman said nothing more about it. After a pause, she continued.
"Never mind. You said Su Anyong has temporarily left Linzhou City, and this youngster now has the final say over the Woodheart Breeding Base and the deeds to this entire stretch of land we're using, correct?"
"That should be the case. Old Su... Su Anyong said before leaving that he was taking a trip to Beihan City up north. He definitely won't be back for a while. Su Ping is handling everything at home."
The woman nodded in satisfaction, a faint smile appearing on her striking red lips.
"In that case, our battle arena has been running short on Elite Tier and ordinary-tier wolfhound training beasts lately, hasn't it?
"In a little while, the graduates from those schools in Linzhou City will have spent some time raising their pet beasts and will want some actual sparring practice. We'll probably be short on low-tier training beasts then.
"When you have time over the next few days, invite the youngster over for a visit. Discuss a partnership to rent the Forest Wolves at their base."
"Yes, understood, Chairwoman."
"Go attend to your work."
After giving that casual instruction, the woman paid no attention to her subordinate's departure.
She actually understood that this subordinate of hers was probably very curious too.
The Skycloud Group was one of the foremost conglomerates in all of Jianghai Province.
Why would it care about a fairly unremarkable parcel of land on the outskirts of Linzhou City?
The property was indeed large, and after changes to Linzhou City's urban planning, it was not particularly far from the city proper.
But surely that was not enough to warrant such attention from her, the chairwoman.
The door closed. In the enormous living room, only the woman remained, standing at the window and gazing toward the distant Spirit Creek River, lost in unknown thoughts.
In the silent room, only her murmured words to herself rang out.
"I wonder whether the Celestial Observatory has received word and sent anyone over. I'll have to find a way to move faster.
"I can hardly wait. I wonder which senior left behind the Mystic Realm that will appear here in the future..."
