History
Formation of the Alliance
After Stormwind City's fall, Terenas receives Anduin Lothar and Prince Varian Wrynn in Lordaeron. He sends supplies to Stormwind's refugees, offers Varian protection and summons neighboring rulers to hear Lothar's warning about the Horde 35 36. Their conferences culminate in the founding of the Lordaeron Alliance, with Lothar appointed supreme commander 37 40.
Horde invasion
Alterac's ruler allows the Horde through his territory, leaving Lordaeron exposed to an attack on its capital 81 82 83. Terenas hastily gathers city guards and conscripts, while residents outside the walls evacuate what they can 85. The defenders hold the gates despite heavy pressure and insufficient manpower; Alliance forces move to reinforce them 84 86 87. Lothar later returns to a warm reception in the city 91.
Fall and contested control
Arthas later kills Terenas 200. Lordaeron City subsequently appears under Grand Marshal Garithos, while the wider region is contested by the Crimson Crusade, the Scourge and Demon Lords 259 322 338. The Forsaken consider taking the capital but question whether they could hold it against the Crusaders 433.
Forsaken occupation
Nathanos's forces attack the capital and overcome its Crusader defenders 733. As the city is rebuilt, its occupation prompts concern from the Argent Crusade and diplomatic approaches from both the Alliance and Horde 751 755. Nathanos prioritizes Forsaken independence; a later agreement has the Horde recognize Forsaken-held territory and permits Horde passage through Silverpine Forest and Tirisfal 755 761.
