"A reminder"
"If that one or more ' Person in the Mirror ' infiltrate Morola, what will they do?" Lumian pondered for a moment, then put the book back in the "Traveler’s Bag," and walked down the stairs into the hall.
It was dinner time, and the Bar was bustling with activity. Julie, carrying a tray, moved like a butterfly between the different small round tables, placing glasses of alcohol and dishes in front of the respective customers.
The customers were all well-behaved; no one took the opportunity to pat Julie's butt or rub against her chest.
It's not that they're morally upright or Civilization; everyone who enters Morola is a hardened Serious Criminals with blood on their hands. The reason they've become docile is because someone recently set Error example:
Julie's emotions have been unstable these past two days. She's often absent-minded and no longer as nimbly avoids hands and arms that try to take advantage of her amidst laughter and chatter as she usually does. In the evening, someone found an opportunity to pinch her buttocks hard.
Julie's suppressed ferocity and mania suddenly erupted.
If Lumian hadn't intervened in time and reminded her that this wasn't a legitimate duel, the drunkard would now be in the kitchen, missing a vital part of his body.
Ultimately, after repeated "negotiations" by everyone, and with the drunkard insisting on not accepting Julie's duel invitation, he "voluntarily" chopped off his hand as an apology. Otherwise, he might have lost control of his emotions and attacked the foul-mouthed and detestable Bar Boss, forcing him to defend himself.
Lumian glanced at Julie, whose face was devoid of a smile, then strolled to the kitchen, where he saw Lies finally finishing his work and enjoying his dinner.
He forked a finger that had been cooked to Caramel, put it in his mouth, and began to chew it with a crunching sound.
Lumian sighed silently and said, "I need to go out for a bit. Keep an eye on Julie."
"No problem." Lies pointed to the mutilated hand on the plate. "Boss, would you like to try some? I've found a new cooking method: deep-fry first, then put it in a prepared sauce and steam for twenty minutes."
"No need." Lumian turned around and left the "Carnivore" Bar, walking towards the Knowledge Church in the dark, unlit environment.
He found a corner where he could see the Cemetery and the entrance to the Underground Mausoleum through the window, and pulled over a wooden chair with a backrest.
Patting the back of the chair, Lumian sighed and remarked, "The Church of Knowledge is becoming more and more considerate..."
There had never been a chair placed next to the Brass Book before.
"Unfortunately, there's nowhere to put my feet." Lumian down, casting his gaze upon the Cemetery outside the Stained Glass windows, and using the light of the Crimson Moon high in the sky, examined the area near the entrance to the Underground Mausoleum.
According to his knowledge, Sallys, who has been on duty at the Underground Mausoleum for two days, will return to the surface at 9 p. m. tonight.
Lumian's task was to make others believe that he was ostensibly there to study at the Knowledge Church, but in reality, he was there to observe the Underground Mausoleum and the activity patterns of the Experimental Subjects.
But he only had one real purpose:
That is, using the observation of Underground Mausoleum and the activity patterns of Experimental Subjects to mask their own love of learning.
With this reason, he wouldn't waste time wandering around the "Carnivore" Bar, drinking and bragging, and he could finish reading the rest of the books a little earlier.
By the dense, bright candlelight of the Knowledge Church, Lumian would read for a while, then force himself to look up and observe the entrance to the Underground Mausoleum for two or three minutes.
After repeating this behavior several times, he suddenly thought of his Older Sister.
At that time, Aurora would always urge him to study, but every now and then she would drag him away from his Desk and force him to look at the trees outside the window and the mountain Ranch not far away.
Now, he can only rely on his own initiative.
As time ticked by, the Church bells began to toll.
A group of law enforcers shrouded in Black Robe left the Knowledge Church with blank expressions, turned into the Cemetery, and arrived at the entrance to the Underground Mausoleum.
Before long, the group of law enforcement officers emerged from the Gray-White stone steps leading to the Underground Mausoleum, walking out slowly but in a very orderly fashion.
With the help of the "Hunter's" eyesight and the Crimson Moonlight, Lumian saw that the leader was Sallys, who was wearing a black cloak and blindfolded.
The "Witch" walked slowly out of the entrance area with a blank expression and no emotional fluctuation, removing the black cloth covering her eyes.
The procession behind her stretched out in a long line, with each person carrying Hurricane Lantern.
Just then, Lumian felt a moment of disorientation, as if the deep darkness of the Mausoleum entrance had suddenly come alive.
The darkness instantly engulfed the last Experimental Subjects.
Lumian blinked and found that there was no wriggling or other abnormal activity in the darkness; the anomaly he had just witnessed seemed to be just an illusion.
He frowned slightly and began counting the team of Experimental Subjects led by Sallys again.
Soon, Lumian came to a conclusion:
"One person is missing... and so is a Hurricane Lantern..."
Lumian watched Sallys and the others until they returned to the Knowledge Church.
As she approached the stairwell, Sallys casually turned her head and glanced in Lumian's direction.
Lumian crossed his right leg over his left knee, leaned back in his chair, and accepted the other person's scrutiny with composure.
He sensed that Sallys must have noticed him watching.
This suggests that she most likely still retains a certain degree of individuality.
"Phew, for now we don't have to worry about Julie self-destructing..." Lumian quietly breathed a sigh of relief, watching Sallys and the team of law enforcement officers disappear at the stairwell.
He had been worried for the past two days that something happening to Sallys would cause Julie to Loss of Control of her emotions, so he started taking action before he was fully prepared.
That would affect his reading and studying!
After looking around for a while, Lumian noticed that Archbishop of Morola Heraberg of Morola was walking past the Brass Book in a patrolling manner.
He pondered for several seconds, and when the other person approached, he suddenly spoke up, "Your Archbishop, I have a question I would like to ask you."
Heraberg, wearing a plain white Robe inlaid with brass threads, revealed a kind and approving smile:
"Go ahead and ask."
Holding the book in his hand, Lumian asked earnestly, "The taboos in the Underground Mausoleum seem to be aimed at the living. What if a dead person and an Undead go in?"
Heraberg gave Lumian a deep look, then smiled and replied, "The dead should sleep forever, don't you think?"
So, it means that once Undead enter the Underground Mausoleum, they fall into a permanent slumber? Sure enough, "0-01" has characteristics related to death and darkness... That means I can't exploit the loopholes using the Aegis Family's Golden Mask... Lumian sighed regretfully, "I think so too."
With his graying hair and beard, Heraberg said in a Teacher -like tone, "While studying, you must also pay attention to your physical health and mental well-being. Don't stay up late studying; just maintain your current pace."
"Is this... to prevent my condition from deteriorating, to prevent me from being overwhelmed by the inherent Corruption of knowledge from books? Is it to control the rate at which I'm being Corruption?" Lumian thoughtfully rose and replied, "Yes, Your Archbishop."
He immediately stuffed the books back into the "Traveler’s Bag" and walked out of the Knowledge Church under Heraberg's satisfied gaze.
As Lumian crossed the large Square outside, he caught a glimpse of Julie emerging lightly from the side door of the Church, radiating a sense of ease.
He came to check on the situation immediately... Lumian watched Julie turn into another alley and headed back to the "Carnivore" Bar on his own.
As he approached his destination, he heard a piercing, Pain scream suddenly erupt from not too far away.
"Julie did this?" Lumian chuckled to himself. "She cuts one when she's in a bad mood, and she cuts one when she's in a good mood. Can't she just take a break and find some other form of entertainment?"
Fortunately, there are enough Exiles in Morola.
However, Lumian was also certain that since they arrived, the daily death toll had increased several times over.
In other words, they cannot stay for too long, otherwise the Exiles replenished will definitely not keep up with the consumption, Morola will eventually face a crisis of not having enough people to seal.
The Bar was already closed. Lumian went behind the bar, poured himself a glass of Lenzqi, and sipped it slowly, as if waiting for something.
After an unknown amount of time, Julie appeared in the doorway, wearing a shirt and Long Dress.
With a lingering blush on her cheeks, she glanced at Lumian and asked with a smile, "Boss, were you waiting for me?"
She was toying with a Blood-Colored object frozen in Frost in her hand.
Lumian took a sip of Lenzqi and, instead of answering, asked:
Do you know my name?
Julie walked to the bar, shook her head, and said with a smile, "All I know is that you're my Boss."
"But Sallys, as a member of the Law Enforcement Team, should know the name of every resident of Morola," Lumian stated directly, pointing out Sallys's existence.
Julie's expression changed slightly, then she smiled and sighed, "But she said the name Louis must be fake."
"I don't believe you haven't communicated with the outside world, haven't asked them to help investigate my true identity." Lumian rested one hand on the bar counter and leisurely took a sip of strong liquor.
Julie pouted, not directly answering whether she had investigated Lumian's true identity, but simply said, "That's not important."
"Indeed." Lumian nodded with a smile. "I previously captured a ' Person in the Mirror ' from Trier under the Earth and the Map. He told me that some of his companions had gone to Lenburg to find Morola. Now, according to new intelligence, that 'Mirror Man' or those other ' Person in the Mirror ' may have already entered."
Julie's smile gradually faded, and her expression turned serious.
Lumian finished the rest of the Lenzqi in one gulp, put down his glass, left the bar, and headed upstairs.
After sitting silently on the bar Bar Stool for a while, Julie left the "Carnivore" Bar.
Morola, inside an empty house.
The "Witch" put on Gold Ring inlaid with Blue Gemstone and sat down in front of a half-length mirror.
Her reflection in the mirror suddenly swayed slightly, a Change occurring.
