Taking it slow was faster
Inside a Four-Wheeled, Four-Seater carriage.
Amandina sat opposite Lumian, gazing excitedly at the Intis Plane Trees lining the street, the still brightly lit shops, the beautiful Arcade, the gentlemen and ladies walking their tortoises, and some citizens in outlandish costumes. She exclaimed from the bottom of her heart, "Trier is truly amazing, even more beautiful than I imagined!"
"I hope you won't take back that assessment after you've been here a while." Lumian wanted to make a sarcastic remark, but there were too many things about Trier that were worthy of ridicule, and he couldn't find the most representative one at the moment, so he could only respond to Amandina in this way.
Amandina turned her gaze away from the carriage window and said with some regret, "Unfortunately, I have to return to Port Pylos at dawn."
She plans to apply for entrance exams for some universities in Trier after graduating from grammar school.
Amandina glanced at the Coachman's seat ahead and asked Lumian in a low voice:
Why don't we just ' Teleportation ' Past directly?
Lumian smiled leisurely and said, "You're a guest, so of course I have to show you around Trier."
Amandina scrutinized Lumian twice:
"I feel like you're lying to me."
"Your feeling is correct," Lumian laughed without any attempt to hide it. "Slowing down allows the Convergence Law of Beyonder Characteristics to take effect."
If he had taken Amandina and "Teleportation" to the entrance of the Catacombs, heading straight for the "Samaritan Woman Spring" at top speed to complete what needed to be done, then Harrison, the Resurrection Island Visitor, might not have had time to react, or been affected by the Law of Convergence, before deciding to sneak into the "Samaritan Woman Spring" again at night. Everything would have ended then, and the intended purpose would have been impossible to achieve.
Sufficient time must be allowed for the Convergence Law of Beyonder Characteristics to take effect!
Taking it slow might be faster.
"What... what do you want to Aggregation?" Amandina, having witnessed Lumian's performance in the "Dream Festival," immediately tensed up.
"We're tracking a target." Lumian leaned back against the wall and replied with a smile, "Don't worry, your safety is absolutely guaranteed."
Upon hearing this, Amandina quietly breathed a sigh of relief.
Louis Berri was a very trustworthy man; he kept all his promises.
What she didn't know was that if Franca or Jenna were here, they would definitely ask in return, "Is it just about safety? Will we not get hurt, tortured, or suffer any psychological or emotional impact during the process?"
Amandina glanced again at the Coachman's seat across the side of the carriage and whispered, "Aren't you afraid the Coachman will hear what you're saying?"
I wasn't lowering my voice at all!
Lumian chuckled and said, "He can't hear."
Amandina paused for a moment, then tried to understand it using her knowledge of Mysticism:
"You, you quickly created a ' Spirit Wall '?"
"You can think of it that way." Lumian was too lazy to explain to Amandina what the "Fictional Bottle" was.
Amandina relaxed and asked with a smile, "Were those two Lady your Lover?"
Lumian chuckled.
"Shouldn't you have asked this question to their faces?"
"That would be so embarrassing, they'd definitely be angry!" Amandina's emotional intelligence was quite good.
"Won't I get angry?" Lumian asked, amused.
Amandina chuckled.
"You don't seem like the type to get angry over something like this."
She suddenly pointed out the window and said, "Is that the Trier Higher Normal College?"
"Your attempt to change the subject is really clumsy," Lumian mocked Amandina without any politeness.
And so, the Four-Wheeled, Four-Seater Hired Carriage arrived at Inferno Square at a normal speed.
As Lumian descended the stairs, he took out a White Candles, tossed it to Amandina, and told her about the various taboos of the Catacombs.
Amandina listened attentively and lit one of the Candle by rubbing it against her spirit.
"I've seen it in some magazines, but none of them have described it in as much detail as you have today."
"Do these taboos really have to be followed? What will happen if they aren't? For example, what if I don't light the Candle?"
As they spoke, the two arrived at the giant stone gate inscribed with the warning, "Halt! The Empire of Death lies ahead!"
The Catacombs Administrator, with gray hair and wearing a blue vest and yellow trousers, glanced at Lumian but did not stop the two from entering the Catacombs at night.
Lu He*Tu*Shumian gazed ahead, walking among the piles of skeletons by the roadside, and said in a calm tone, "Then you will disappear from this world. Your parents will forget they had such a daughter, your former fiancé will forget he ever had such a fiancée, your friends will forget you, your servants will forget you, and perhaps only I will remember you."
Although Amandina was Beyonder equivalent to Sequence 7 and had witnessed some of the tragedies that occurred during the "Dream Festival," and her former fiancé was particularly skilled at summoning the Undead, she still couldn't help but feel a little apprehensive and afraid Catacombs the dark, gloomy catacombs filled with skeletons and permeated with the atmosphere of death.
This, combined with Lumian's explanation, made the hairs on the back of her neck stand on end, and she gripped the White Candles even tighter.
"The first time I entered the Catacombs, I thought, 'This is a perfect place to tell horror stories.' Unfortunately, even now, such opportunities are rare." A smile appeared on Lumian's face.
Amandina paused for a moment:
Were you telling a scary story?
"Yes, the scariest thing about this horror story is that every single word is true," Lumian replied with a laugh.
"..." Amandina was startled once again.
She quickened her pace, afraid of being left behind by Lumian.
The two made their way to the Fourth Level of the Catacombs. Along the way, several skeletons would suddenly move and try to trip Amandina, almost making the girl scream.
Finally, Lumian led Amandina to the enormous, decaying Tomb Chamber containing the "Samaritan Woman Spring".
He glanced around and muttered to himself, "This time I didn't encounter any Shadows that resembled Krismona..."
"He wandered around the fourth level of the tomb in search of a Women ' Witch,' and after achieving his goal, he no longer had that Lingering Obsession?"
Lumian withdrew his gaze and tossed a Mirror to Amandina:
"Take it and wait for me here."
"Wait here?" Amandina looked around in slight panic.
The surroundings were dark and deep, with numerous rotten and dilapidated tombs, and who knows what lurked in the shadows.
"Soon." Lumian offered no Soothing, and went straight through the half-open stone door into the Tomb Chamber.
He hadn't walked far when he encountered the Catacombs Administrator, whose deep wrinkles made him look more like Corpse than a living person.
The elderly administrator, also wearing a blue vest and yellow trousers, did not stop Lumian, but stood quietly in place, letting him pass.
Upon reaching the gentle, downward slope, Lumian took out a Mirror and a "Black Tear" Forehead Ornament had been burning for over half an hour from his "Traveler’s Bag."
Outside the massive Tomb Chamber, by the yellowish light of the White Candles, Amandina saw Lumian's face reflected in the Mirror, and heard his voice in her ears:
"Handle on the Mirror."
With her experience, Amandina quickly pressed the hand holding the White Candles against the mirror.
Once again, she passed through the icy water, and once again felt the familiar terrifying suction and weightless descent. Amandina soon found herself beside Lumian.
Lumian put away the "Black Tear" and the Mirror, and pointed Depths the slope, saying, "It's down there."
It is located in the crevice between two ancient Tomb Chamber, about 20 or 30 meters away from the huge Tomb Chamber containing the "Samaritan Woman Spring".
Holding White Candles, Franca cautiously peeked out and glanced towards the target location.
She immediately pulled back and muttered to Jenna, "These Candle are really annoying; we can't Concealment well at all."
How can we ambush Harrison now?
The dim, yellowish light of the White Candles stood out starkly in the deep, pure darkness.
Jenna looked at Franca and smiled, saying, "The reverse is also true; Harrison can't get close silently without us noticing."
"Furthermore, hiding in this corner effectively reduces the effect of the candlelight; it can't travel that far."
Franca knew all this; she was just making a casual complaint.
She suddenly remembered something, and asked with a slight twitch of her lips, "Have you seen Anthony?"
"Uh..." Jenna was also stunned.
At that moment, Anthony's voice came from outside the crack:
"I've always been here."
With his voice in hand, Franca and Jenna finally saw their companion.
He stood openly on the road outside, holding a lit White Candles, unnoticed by the two "Witch".
"' Psychological Invisibility ' is amazing..." Franca exclaimed enviously.
The principle behind "Psychological Invisibility" is completely different from other "Invisibility" abilities. It mainly involves placing oneself in the psychological blind spot and consciousness dead zone of those around him, causing them to ignore the situation. Therefore, whether or not he has a lit Candle, it does not prevent Anthony from achieving Invisibility.
Anthony simply replied:
"Candlelight is a powerful draw to attention here, but it also reduces the effectiveness of my ' Psychological Invisibility,' so I have to be very focused to maintain it."
Franca and Jenna fell silent, hiding in the crevice between the Tomb Chamber, listening to the sounds around them.
Before the thin, Grayish-White Fog that was gently contracting and expanding.
Lumian re-examined his own condition:
The chill that erupted from within him took hold of his body, causing most of his emotions and desires to wither away. However, the malice and irritability stemming from the negative effects of the Contract remained, growing ever stronger.
He's in pretty good shape now, and he's endured it without relying much on the "Ascetic's" abilities.
Amandina had a similar reaction; one side of her face was "frozen" pale, while she clenched her Teeth, trying to prevent the unfamiliar version of herself from emerging.
Lumian grabbed her arm and extended his left hand, which was holding the White Candles, into the Gray-White mist.
With a warm sensation in his chest, the two of them smoothly entered the mist.
Everything became even quieter.
