Background / History

Parentage and Childhood

Ke Xialing was born after her father, Ai Sheng, had been taken away from the Immortal Realm by his lineage. Ke Meili had not yet told him she was pregnant, and their daughter received her mother’s surname 450 452.

Raised by Ke Meili, Xialing repeatedly asked as a child why she had no father. Her questions upset her mother, whom she sometimes saw crying alone afterward. As she grew older, she stopped asking, although her longing to meet him remained 450.

The Cloud Glow Sect protected her closely as its young mistress. Her early expeditions exposed her to dangers she had never previously experienced and helped mature her Dao Heart 179.

Meeting Li Dalong

While training in the Red Cloud Mountain Range, Xialing and her fellow disciples were pursued for days by men in black. When Li Dalong intervened, she refused to remain passive: she joined his battle and directed the other disciples to support them. Together, they killed their attacker 167 168.

Xialing offered Li Dalong the enemy’s weapon and Storage Ring, but he returned the spoils for the disciples to divide. Grateful for his rescue and trusting him after their shared battle, she invited him to continue traveling with them 168.

Her concern for him soon became personal. After he rescued two junior sisters from a lake monster, she hurried to check his injuries and called him “Big Brother Li” 170.

On the return journey, masked attackers ambushed the group near a waterfall. Xialing helped protect the wounded, suffered two broken ribs after becoming distracted by Li Dalong’s injury, and continued fighting. During a subsequent attack, she exploited an enemy’s carelessness to pierce his Dantian with her flying sword 172 173 176.

Ke Meili eventually arrived to help defeat the Universe-Suppressing Tower attackers. Mother and daughter then persuaded Li Dalong to join the Cloud Glow Sect as a Guest Elder; Xialing also hoped his presence would allow her to see him regularly 177.

Travels and Romantic Commitment

After reaching a cultivation bottleneck, Xialing obtained her mother’s permission to travel with Li Dalong. Their journey took them through the Extreme Cold Icefield, where repeated battles improved her combat experience 184 185 188 191.

After more than two months in the icefield’s southeastern region, her approaching breakthrough became difficult to suppress. Li Dalong brought her outside the dangerous area, lent her the Starry Sky Divine Shield, and prepared a formation for her tribulation. She successfully entered the Heavenly Immortal Realm, becoming second only to her mother within the sect at that time 193 194.

Learning about Ye Wuxia left Xialing anxious and regretful that she had not met Li Dalong sooner. Nevertheless, she greeted Ye Wuxia politely, and the two spent several days shopping together in Wuling City 196 197.

During the Wuling Peak expedition, Li Dalong remained behind against a powerful black panther while Xialing led the others away. Afterward, he finally acknowledged his feelings for her. She accepted that he already loved Ye Wuxia and expressed her willingness to face their future together 206 211.

On their return journey, Xialing and Li Dalong met White Stone Daoist. His overnight discussion of cultivation and Immortal Realm legends deepened their understanding before he vanished at dawn 214.

Work for the Cloud Glow Sect

Xialing regarded the sect her mother had founded as her home. Whenever she acquired cultivation resources, she prioritized bringing them back to support its growth 213.

Her administrative responsibilities included arranging assistance for endangered disciples, helping manage the aftermath of the Dark Forest incident, and supporting relations with other sects whose members Li Dalong had rescued 214 218 219 220.

At Li Dalong’s request, she persuaded Ke Meili to admit thirty rescued women and children who had lost their families. She accompanied the collection party and later arranged accommodation and admission formalities for Yun Yao and Zhou Tianlong 227 230 231.

While traveling to collect the survivors, she was repeatedly obstructed and harassed by Murong Tianjiao, the Wind Thunder Pavilion’s young master. After Li Dalong drove him off, she warned her mother about his threats of retaliation 227 228 230.

She also organized personnel for the proposed joint development of the Flame Mountain Underground World with the Limitless Immortal Sect 260.

Poisoning and Recovery

Li Dalong eventually entrusted Xialing with access to the Creation Cultivation Tower, allowing her to cultivate far more efficiently. She later addressed the relationship between herself, Li Dalong, and Ye Wuxia directly, asking that they build a home together. Ye Wuxia accepted her, and Xialing promised to respect their existing bond and preserve the family’s harmony 232 233 235.

During a later coastal journey, Xialing was poisoned. Li Dalong stabilized her at the Joyful Arrival Inn in Blue Sea City but could neither identify nor safely expel the poison. Ye Wuxia requested help from her father, who sent Yang Qingyang 237 242.

Yang Qingyang forced the remaining toxins out through Xialing’s left middle finger. Li Dalong watched over her recovery and brought her back to the Cloud Glow Sect after half a month 247 248.

Enlightenment Tea and a Heavenly Dao phenomenon triggered by Li Dalong accelerated her healing and improved her understanding of cultivation and the sword Dao. After another half-year, she had fully recovered and resumed cultivating in the tower 250.

Marriage and Netherworld Secret Realm Expedition

Ke Meili approved Li Dalong’s proposal to marry Xialing. Their wedding took place at the Cloud Glow Sect three months after his marriage to Ye Wuxia 283 285.

The three subsequently cultivated together in the Creation Cultivation Tower. After twenty years inside, all had mastered the second level of the Longevity Dao Scripture but could not comprehend its third level 285.

After reaching the Golden Immortal Realm and spending decades in seclusion, Xialing joined seven junior sisters on an expedition to the Netherworld Secret Realm. She led them out of a Soul Devourer Beast encirclement and onward to Plum Ridge, where they hunted beasts and gathered medicine 315 321 322.

Old Immortal Nangong later ambushed the party and captured two junior sisters. Xialing maintained their defensive formation, coordinated counterattacks, and secretly summoned Li Dalong. He arrived as the defenders were nearing exhaustion and killed Nangong. Once reassured, she immediately urged him to find the missing women 324 325 326.

The experience renewed her determination to become stronger, and she returned to seclusion 327.

Motherhood and Reunion with Her Father

Following their advancement to mid-stage Taiyi Golden Immortal, Xialing and Ye Wuxia accompanied Li Dalong toward Penglai Island. Their journey was interrupted by an attack at Ten Thousand Islands Lake, after which Ye Wuxia suffered a miscarriage. Xialing protected her during the fighting and stayed beside her afterward to provide comfort 420 421.

Xialing was also pregnant. She agreed to delay announcing the news out of concern for Ye Wuxia’s grief. Li Dalong later remained beside her through her pregnancy, and she safely gave birth to their son, Li Chenxi 422 423 452.

Much later, Ke Meili revealed the circumstances of her separation from Ai Sheng. Xialing supported her mother’s decision to seek him and asked her to tell him how deeply his daughter wished to meet him 450.

Ai Sheng returned to the Cloud Glow Sect with Ke Meili. Father and daughter joyfully met for the first time, and Xialing introduced him to Li Dalong and Li Chenxi before the family shared a reunion meal 452.

Personality

Xialing is courageous even when outmatched. In her first battle alongside Li Dalong, she chose to attack rather than wait helplessly, despite recognizing that her cultivation was insufficient. Experience gradually tempered that courage into steadier judgment: by the Plum Ridge expedition, her companions relied on her ability to decide when to attack and when to avoid stronger opponents 167 322.

Her sheltered upbringing leaves room for playful curiosity. Seeing the icefield’s snow-covered landscape for the first time, she flew through the falling snow laughing. Even encounters with robbers excited her enough that she began looking forward to them 188.

She is openly affectionate toward Li Dalong but also attentive to others. Immediately after their mutual confession, she urged him to prioritize healing. She deliberately sought harmony with Ye Wuxia, treated his relatives as her own family, and supported Ye Wuxia after her miscarriage 211 230 235 421.

Her commitment to cultivation is closely tied to responsibility. She trained harder to relieve pressure on her mother after the sect lost an elder, and later returned to seclusion after Nangong’s ambush exposed her vulnerability 224 327.
