Hunting
"How about it? You pick one too, they're all very fierce," Philip said, pointing to the Hound in front of him.
Kronos looked at the Hound, which were taller than a person when they stood up, and shook his head. "I'm not very interested in hunting. Compared to these powerful dogs, I prefer the kind that I can keep by my side all the time."
Philip looked at Kronos helplessly, "Why don't you like any exciting activities? You just like doing research in the Laboratory?"
Kronos chuckled, "I love collecting, especially Demigod- level Sealed Artifact. Want to sell me a couple?"
If someone said this to another person, it would definitely be a joke, but it's certainly true within the Negan.
"Forget about it. I'm not even qualified to use something of that level, let alone sell it. You'd be better off going to my father."
"If I dared to go to the Duke, why would I need to come to you?" Kronos said with a disdainful look.
Upon hearing this, Philip objected, "You make it sound so convincing, but do you have the authority to access and sell your family's Demigod- level Sealed Artifact?"
Kronos shamelessly said, "I don't have any!"
Philip didn't believe it at all. "I heard from my father that your ancestors had two Record of killing Demigod, and that you were on good terms with the Church of Steam and Machinery, so there must be at least two."
Indeed, the Argel Family has produced three Demigod. Apart from the last one Ancestor, who was constantly fighting against the mad Wisdom Abner, the other two have killed Demigod.
The Founder, Ancestor Abel, killed a Demon Hunter, and the restorer Botu Ancestor, killed a Iron-Blooded Knight. These were the greatest honors of the Argel Family and were naturally easy to know.
These two Beyonder Characteristic naturally became part of the Argel Family's foundation.
Beyonder Item at the Demigod level are indeed different from those below the Demigod. Before the Demigod, Beyonder Item can be crafted by Artisan. Even though Sequence 5 Astronomer doesn't provide much of a boost to Artisan's abilities, their experience can still help them complete the crafting.
However, this doesn't work at the Demigod level. Even Angel on the Paragon Pathway can only guide the formation of Beyonder Item to a certain extent, rather than creating them at will.
Therefore, at this level, it is more appropriate to call them Sealed Artifact.
Every Sealed Artifact of Demigod level or above is formed naturally; even if guided by Paragon Pathway or Beyonder being, that only accounts for a very small portion.
This is how the Argel Family handled these two Beyonder Characteristic.
The Beyonder Ability of the final Demigod- level Sealed Artifact were indeed impressive, but the negative effects were quite severe.
One of the two Sealed Artifact is carried by the Marquis Argel, while the other is sealed away in the Manor of Backlund.
As for the Old Man, he also possessed a Sealed Artifact, which was brought out by Ancestor Abel from the Moses Ascetic Order.
Thinking about it this way, if it weren't for the protection of the God of Steam and Machinery, and if the Hidden Sage hadn't lacked a strong Consciousness of self, his family might have been wiped out long ago.
Our Ancestor used the resources of the Moses Ascetic Order to ascend to Demigod, then defected, taking with them a vial of Angel Level Elf Blood and a Demigod- level Sealed Artifact.
No sheep can withstand being sheared like that!
But this was definitely not something I could say to Philip, so even though Philip was talking about history directly.
Kronos simply said, "I don't have any!"
Philip was so angry that he didn't even bother to talk to him anymore.
Hearing the eagle's cry in mid-air, Kronos asked, "Don't you keep any other animals?"
Philip was still angry and didn't respond at all.
Kronos chuckled, "Why are you still acting like a child?"
Philip glared at him and said he could tolerate everything except acting like a child. He was the one who was to carry the Negan banner; how could he act like a child?
Kronos clearly knew this, so he used this statement to provoke him.
"Yes, there are others, but none are as easy to raise as Hound. Don't be fooled by the fact that I've found so many people to raise Hound; they're actually the easiest to care for."
"As for those Felidae pets, they're pretty useless. They're only good for keeping at home as pets. Ladies and young ladies might like them a bit more, but they're not very useful for networking."
Kronos pointed to the sky, "I was referring to those."
Philip looked up, and then he understood.
"I had considered eagles before, and I even hired a lot of professional Hunter to collect them. The ones pictured above are the ones I had them collect back then. They're very powerful, and many people like them."
"But eagles are different. It's best to train them yourself, and even a trained eagle needs a long period of companionship to develop sufficient chemistry. The people I want to befriend don't have that time, so it's best if I release them all into the mountains."
Kronos was speechless. "I suspect you're being sarcastic. Fine, I'm just a nobody; I'm not worthy to associate with Young Master Philip."
"Hahahaha." Philip laughed heartily. He really didn't mean it that way, but accidentally injuring Kronos had at least avenged what he had just done.
After laughing, Philip asked, "You're interested in eagles? Want me to get you one? You have plenty of free time, you could train one and keep it at home, it'd be very cool."
Kronos was extremely indignant at the assessment that he had too much free time. He was clearly very busy, making Scroll every day, but it wasn't appropriate to talk about this with him, so he could only keep quiet.
Philip felt relieved to have silenced Kronos.
Then he continued, "Do you need it? I'll have them catch it for you, so you can take it when we leave after the hunt."
Speechless, Kronos had no choice but to nod. "Find a prettier one."
"No problem. I once received a particularly beautiful eagle. Have them capture it and bring it back. You'll definitely be satisfied when you see it."
Since they arrived at the Manor quite late, the two of them naturally rested there before heading into the Manor the next day.
The next morning, Philip knocked on Kronos's door early in the morning. Kronos was surprised that Philip was up so early.
It was still pitch black outside when a team of people, fully armed, entered the mountains and forests.
This group consisted of experienced Hunter, hired by Philip to guide his hunts.
In fact, the hunting of nobles was more like the hunting of ancient emperors. First, a large army would clear the area, removing all the animals from the Royal Hunting Grounds. Then, some docile deer, rabbits, and the like would be captured and released back into the wild. Only then would the emperor come to hunt.
But Philip didn't like that kind of unexciting gameplay.
Although the Manor and the hill behind it were the private property of the Negan, Philip himself had always been in charge of managing them, so he had never had any wild animals cleared out, making this kind of hunting even closer to the life of a hunter.
In Philip's own words, if the Duke Negan hadn't forced him to lead a group, he would have preferred to go hunting in the mountains by himself.
Kronos didn't say anything, but he made up his mind that he would never go hunting with him again. This guy goes a little crazy when it comes to hunting.
Philip brought three dogs, while Kronos brought no animals at all.
Each of them carried a bow, a Hunting Knife, and other items. Kronos also secretly brought a gun just in case.
Although Kronos had experience being alone in the wild, his experience was far inferior to that of these veteran Hunter, so he observed their Hunter and learned little by little.
Philip, on the other hand, seemed extremely excited, gripping his bow and looking around intently.
Kronos patted one of the Hunter beside him and asked, "Is this how he always is when he comes?"
The Hunter chuckled. "Yes, Mr. Philip always seems rather excited. Perhaps it's because his daily life is somewhat repressed, so coming here is a way for him to vent, which sometimes leads him to overdo it."
Kronos nodded knowingly. Although Philip didn't know about the Apocalypse like he did, the responsibilities of the Negan often weighed heavily on him.
He always behaved properly and was gentle and refined in public, so he could only vent his stress in this mountain forest. Perhaps Duke Negan knew this, which is why he never interfered with the affairs of this mountain forest over the years.
Kronos dared not imagine what would happen to his friend if everything unfolded as it did in the original story, with Duke Negan assassinated and Philip forced to take over all the responsibilities of the Negan.
Kronos has always been wary of arbitrarily changing things in the original story. Even if he accidentally ended up with the Black Emperor Card, he still planned to return it later.
It was precisely because she was afraid of affecting Klein's growth trajectory that she realized if she herself was not capable of becoming the hope of this world, then she would still have to rely on Klein.
But at this moment, Kronos still genuinely wanted to save Duke Negan's life.
Although he didn't know what impact it would have, these people he had already met—his Parents Younger Sister, Philip, Portland, Kask, Amyrius —were no longer just words in a book to Kronos; they were living, breathing people.
Kronos wanted to give these people a better Fate and ending, within his power.
Having always disliked works of art with tragic endings, Kronos naturally didn't want his own life to follow the same path. Therefore, he needed to work even harder and become stronger to have the right to change other people's Fate and protect his own happy ending.
