Arrival
Kronos slept extremely well, from a little after 7 a. m. the previous day until noon the next day. Although he didn't completely relieve all his fatigue, he at least returned to normal.
After washing up, Kronos left his room, but instead of going to find Gner right away, he went straight to the dining room, because he was so hungry he could eat a whole cow.
Coincidentally, Gner happened to be eating at the restaurant.
"Klein, over here!" Gner didn't forget to call out Kronos by his alias.
After Kronos approached, he asked with a puzzled look, "You're usually surrounded by people when you eat, aren't you? Why are you all alone today?"
Gner usually ate with a group of Sailor; he was quite popular. Kronos, on the other hand, always ate alone in a secluded spot.
Gner said mysteriously, "I wouldn't dare give them this stuff I'm eating."
Kronos wasn't stupid; he immediately guessed what Gner was eating.
The ship only had ordinary food, with the most special Cured Meat before. But now, the meat of the Evil-Patterned Black Panther was in Gner's hands. This was probably the only food that Gner was reluctant to part with.
Kronos didn't say much, immediately sat down, and began to eat heartily, saying between bites, "Remember, you can't eat this every meal, it will increase the risk of Loss of Control."
"And if you encounter Paranormal Creature in the future, remember that eating some meat is fine, but you must be careful with some key ingredients that can be used to make Potion, and never eat them unless absolutely necessary."
Gner was not lacking in the spirit of learning; what he lacked, the mysterious knowledge, was naturally firmly memorized.
After that, there were about two days of travel. Kronos once again locked himself in his room and continued experimenting with his materials.
He was a bit skeptical; with so many materials, surely there wasn't a single one suitable for the power of time?
Because Kronos rarely left his room, he was unaware that Gner, who usually enjoyed drinking beer and chatting with the Sailor, had changed!
This trip to Tiana Island made Gner realize that if he continued to drift along, he would completely lose the opportunity to follow Kronos.
So Gner began training himself. Although the most important thing for an Beyonder is to improve their Sequence, Gner's experience told him that skillful techniques and a strong physique could, to a certain extent, help him fight beyond his rank.
According to the planned itinerary, the Fleet should have arrived in Bayam after two days of sailing, but unfortunately, plans don't always go as expected.
After a day's Fleet, a medium-sized Storm struck at night. Although this level of Storm was not expected to cause too much damage, the Fleet decided to temporarily anchor on a Deserted Island to avoid the Storm.
They continued their journey at daybreak, but this prevented them from reaching Bayam as planned.
When the Fleet entered Bayam Harbor, it was the morning of the fourth day after leaving Tiana Harbor. Gner knocked on Kronos's door and called Kronos to come up to the deck to see what was happening.
In his words, can the Bayam he saw on the Bayam be the same as the Bayam he saw on the deck?
That's certainly true. Standing on the deck, watching the ship slowly enter Bayam Harbor, and seeing the buildings along the coast, it was indeed a unique experience.
Bayam truly lives up to its reputation as the capital of the Rorsted Archipelago. Just looking at it from the seaside, while it may not be as large as Backlund, it is certainly no smaller Constant City.
Previously, the stops on those colonial islands were only temporary, but this time in Bayam, they would stay for a while. Benjamin would have to sell at least half of the cargo in the Fleet and fill the cargo hold.
Bayam was a place of sorrow for Benjamin; every time he came here before, he left empty-handed.
Goods brought from Backlund sold very well, but it was difficult to buy some rare spices.
Upon closer examination, it becomes clear that Bayam, and indeed the entire Rorsted Archipelago, are divided into three major factions: the nobles and politicians led by Thaddeus Ross Governor George Negan, the military Admiral by Amyrius Levitt, the "Weaver of Laws," and the church led by Cardinal "Sea King" Aarn Kottman of the Church of Storms.
Benjamin had no connection with any of these three parties, so how could those valuable resources possibly end up in his hands?
So Kronos also had his own mission in Bayam: to visit George Negan and Amyrius Levitt.
There's no need to tell them anything about buying things; they're all seasoned veterans who will naturally understand. Given the relationship between the Argel Family and the Negan and Levett Family, they'll definitely give them face.
But there's no rush. I need to rest and recuperate before considering these things.
For some time now, Kronos has been sleeping either on the ship or in the wild. Although the rooms on the ship are decent, they can't compare to high-end Inn. Now he can finally find a place to stay.
After disembarking, the two went straight to the best Inn in all of Bayam without saying a word.
After booking two rooms, Kronos went into one of them, not for any other reason than to want a bathtub to soak in, something Kronos had always liked, but he simply couldn't afford it at the moment.
Gner didn't seem to be in a hurry to do anything; he simply put his luggage away and left the Inn, leaving a note for Kronos before he left.
After taking a relaxing bath, Kronos threw all his clothes from the past few days into the trash can. He figured there wasn't anything he particularly liked anyway, and he could just buy new ones later.
The reason we didn't do it this way before was simply because there wasn't a single place to buy clothes along the way—and of course, this refers to the kind of clothes Kronos wanted.
Now, Kronos is considering something else.
Because they are concealing their identities, they are not accompanied by Servants. So, if they want to visit George Negan and Amyrius Levitt, who should deliver their visiting cards?
Kronos didn't want Gner to do this. Firstly, Kronos didn't think of Gner's position as low as he did, and secondly, Gner didn't know how to handle these matters. Was he really going to have to deliver it himself in the end?
As Kronos was pondering this matter, there was a knock on Kronos door. He assumed it was Gner coming to see him, so he casually opened the door.
It turned out that the person standing outside the door was not Gner, but a blond man.
Kronos, completely bewildered, asked, "May I ask who you are?"
The officer gave a crisp salute and said, "Lord Argel, I am Lü Er'an, Secretary to Admiral Amyrius. I Admiral Your Excellency's orders to deliver an invitation."
Such speed! No wonder he's a local bigwig. No, he's not a snake, he's a local dragon.
The Fleet arrived a night later than originally planned, which means that this was not something that was predicted well in advance, but rather something that Rian the hour or so since the ships arrived at the port.
Kronos didn't show any emotion, just smiled, took the invitation from Lü Er'an, and said, "Thank you, Lieutenant Colonel Lü Er'an, I will definitely be there on time."
This time it was Lü Er'an's turn to be stunned, because he hadn't mentioned his military rank, and he rarely even wore a military uniform, yet Kronos had guessed it right away. He hadn't expected Kronos's intelligence to be so accurate.
But in reality, this was just Lü Er'an's own imagination. Kronos knew his rank because it was mentioned in the original work. Of course, Kronos also had some intention of making Lü Er'an misunderstand when he said it outright.
After Lü Er'an left, Kronos noticed the note on the ground, which Gner had slipped in before he left.
After Kronos picked it up, he saw that it was written on it:
"Kronos, you'll probably have some social engagements in the early stages of your time in Bayam. I don't understand them and I'm not interested, so I won't accompany you. I'll go and inquire about the Beyonder, so that if needed later, I won't have to look into it at the last minute."
In fact, Kronos had intended for Gner to do this from the beginning, but he was busy taking a bath and forgot to tell Gner. Unexpectedly, Gner thought of it beforehand and did it.
Kronos smiled, quite satisfied. After all, he had initially recruited Gner to cultivate a right-hand man, and now this person was automatically getting into the swing of things.
Kronos returned to the house, opened the invitation, and was surprised to find that it wasn't Amyrius's party, but a party he and George Negan were hosting tonight, presumably to unite Conservative Party members and increase cohesion.
"Sigh." Kronos sighed, "I feel like I've been tricked again for no reason. My appearance has led me to a Conservative Party gathering. What a headache."
However, he had no choice but to attend the gathering. If he didn't show his face at this point, it would definitely affect future developments. Therefore, the only option was for his father to do the work behind the scenes in Backlund.
No sooner said than done, Kronos immediately prepared to go out and find Telegraph to Telegraph home, and also to buy a few more sets of clothes while he was at it.
The Inn where Kronos was staying was the most upscale Inn in all of Bayam, with various high-end restaurants and clothing stores downstairs; the only problem was that the Telegraph was nowhere to be found.
Therefore, Kronos did not go to buy clothes immediately, after all, carrying a large pile of clothes while Telegraph seemed inconvenient no matter how you looked at it.
So after he went downstairs, he first asked the Inn staff for directions to the Telegraph, and then headed straight for Telegraph.
