"I sent out several waves of scouts, but none of them could get through the Horde's lines and reach Near the Dark Portal..." Danath Trollbane said, his expression grave.
"Among those scouts were the finest rangers under my command. They all possessed the finest stealth skills, yet not one of them returned alive..." A trace of sorrow showed on Alleria Windrunner's face.
"We can't even approach from the air!" Kurdran Wildhammer shook his head. "The Horde's headhunters are watching the skies very closely. As soon as we fly within a few miles of the Dark Portal, we come under fierce attack!"
"What should we do?" Danath asked gravely. "Right now, we have no idea what the Horde is planning!"
"The Horde must be plotting something!" On that point, they agreed.
The Garrison at Nethergarde Keep had been trapped in the fortress for a full week. Over the past week, they had been able to do almost nothing except monitor the Horde's movements from afar and guard against a possible "surprise attack."
And the Horde certainly had some scheme in mind... Although they had not attacked Nethergarde Keep again, they remained on guard against the human fortress, allowing not a single scout to approach them. Meanwhile, they seemed to be carrying out some plan in secret.
The remaining reinforcements still had not arrived, as though they no longer existed... The two sides had settled into a stalemate.
Yet compared with the anxious commanders, the two mages from Dalaran seemed much calmer.
They even discussed teleportation spells in their spare time... drawing sidelong glances from their colleagues.
"Karin, do you know what the Horde is planning?" Khadgar asked, deliberately lowering his voice.
Karin blinked lightly and said quietly, "A little, perhaps... We may have to prepare to cross the Dark Portal!"
